This was a demonstration for Inoue Sensei, the previous Kancho(headmaster )of the yoshinkan honbu dojo. A great honour indeed. The idea was to show good, strong Yoshinkan Aikido. It was not intended to show self-defense, or live sparring and was not done with the intention of being posted on youtube! The partners are there to assist the teacher to show strong, dynamic Aiki.Just appreciate it for what it is!
@aikiyondan Yeah, Aikidoist always say, it's a demonstration. I have heard the same excuse for years. That's why I stopped Aikido after years of demonstrations and Japanese philosophy. I grew tired of the CRAP.
@salishaw I'd be interested to know you trained with. Also if fighting is what you were interested in, there was nothing stopping you nipping down to the local karate/jiu jitsu/whatever took your fancy club and testing out your skills. If it took you years to realise Aikido was not for you then (i) either you were training the wrong way or (ii) you were taught the wrong way. As the saying goes, a bad tradesman always blames his tools..
Plenty of classes do - this is a demonstration. Freestyle attacking looks exactly how it's suppose to look.. ugly, wild, but effective. Get educated before you judge.. you know NOTHING about Aikido.. trust me.
@richp860 - Another aikido-fag who can't admit they have wasted their time on this fraud. Nobody is impressed. It's bullshit, and you can't fight your way out of a wet paper bag.
@packoftwenty My primary focus is Jujutsu, which is easily the most effective martial art to ever grace this planet. But as part of our curriculum, we study Yoshinkan Aikido as well.. and Aikido when modified and trained well enough can be extremely effective in many areas. Aikido addresses weapon attacks and over head strikes as good as any art. You're just stuck in your little bubble. Also, I don't train to fight.. I train to DISABLE. Huge difference.
@salishaw - Simple answer - never. Because Fake-ido doesn't work, and is a load of bullshit - anybody who isn't a 'patsy' would easily knock out any 'sensei' of Aikido, and everybody knows it, especially the pussies who pay money to 'learn' this bullshit.
@packoftwenty Jon Marshall studied under Jo Thanbu. Jo Thanbu has been a bouncer for years and run his own doorman training courses for years too. Jo Thanbu is about 110 pounds dripping wet and about 5ft 7inches tall and is 7th Dan Yoshinkan Aikido. He doesn't train to fight - as richp860 also says, he trains to disable. And boy is he good at it! You're great at calling people names on Youtube...you must hit that keyboard of yours pretty hard :-D ..Kent ...October...offer still open.
I wish we have that kind of aikido here in Harrisonburg VA any one want to move here in Harrisonburg to Open a dojo any sanse w/ long experience want nice and friendly city .......Pls
