Hey dom. I'm getting into worship drumming/gospel and I'm wondering if you have any tips on improving timing and dynamics like knowing my part in the song?
@bigchubby99 Just keep listening to your favourite drummers....that's how I learned. Play along to simple stuff to get your confidence up and take it slow. I used to play to ACDC stuff cuz I thought it was simple. Then I started to appreciate what a solid drummer Phil Rudd was. Listen to some of you favourite gospel drummers, keep things simple to gain your confidence and the harder stuff will fall into place!
dom,How do u get that great sound from your bass drum.I have a pearl setup but dont have that thump that u have.Thanks.You sound excellent.I would love to hear u do rock and roll machine from triumph. That would be so cool.
@OzzyVanHalen Try tuning your kick to just above wrinkle. It helps to use an Aquarian Superkick 2 head with minimum muffling as well. I was never happy with my bass sound until I got that drum-head!
Excuse me? Your piss poor attempt at humor? Any REAL percussionists would dig that, as they would also dig this amazong cover, but, I think "shiza" might be envious of this guy's overwhelming, unpredictable, and downright outstanding talent which he shares with his fellow youtube subcsribers and viewers, and therefore talks down to you with "piss-poor" hat-drawn insults... Just like everybody calls everybody "gay." It's not proper, but it's all an individual could think of, so it becomes their
The snare/crash cymbals licks during Foreplay was always one of my personal favorites to play for some reason. I wore this album (and my drum set) out on this album. The 8-track, too...Showing my age...LOL
@shiza237 I bet you are just some jealous kid...His cover sounded nearly flawless; you're just trying to find some type of error to bring his vibe down, and build yourself because of your pathetic, desperate attempt to boost your ego... Fuck you.
@DemonSemon117 Hey retard, I'm 49 years old, and was trying too be funny, which I already apologized for! So please refrain from telling me too ''fuck you''. Thanks. Where do you get an ego trip from an italian put down?? nevermind, I don't want to be confused with giving a shit.
@shiza237 Ok, well if your idea of funny is using racial comments, than your IQ must obviously be very low. And of course if you say something like that people will think that you're just being a dick. And you're just some imbecile trying to get acknowledgement online for making some dumb ass comment. I'm not gonna waste any more breath with a person like you...
@DemonSemon117 Thanks I appreciate it, Although your breath has nothing to do with typing. btw. Have a happy holiday season, all the same. And again, I said I was sorry, Just not good enough these days, ..........Oh and while I'm at it calling someone Italian is not racist. Had I used sand n9gg9r or just plain n-word. THAT would be racist. However I'm not a racist, Just a casual observer trying too be funny. Which obviously I'm not...................soryy again.. for being insensitvie
you done a great job with your drum set! you are the only one on youtube that does not overwhelm my drum students with a "27 piece" drum set! They are encouraged to try songs like these when they see you do it.
wow, great job!! you nailed it. that is one of my all time favorite Boston songs. They are awesome in concert too!! Aw, those were the days when rock was rock.
Thank you very much for this video after listening to this on vinyl and then CD oh about 1000 times I'd call this a very accurate rendition of how the studio version really sounds. Refreshing to see a pro do this song well THANK YOU.
--I'm marking as a 'favorite' right now. ---freeTim.
Great job ! Man, you must have spent alot on your camera(s) too. Neat fade In/Out. Wish I could play drums. Rhythmically challenged, no foot hand coordination. Still working on the chewing gum while walking. Thanks for this posting . It's always neat to see the music actually played.
Finally, I see someone do their level best to cover the original, in a non-embellished way, and succeed at it.
Excellent Dom!
Just the way I do it. When it works, as the drumming in this song did, hell, as the drumming in all of Boston's songs did, you don't need to try and dress it up with extra frills and fancies, and you didn't.
My hat hat is off to you Dominic, from a fellow drummer.
Awesome man! I would do bad things to have your stick control! I've been a musician all of my life (30 of my 35 years), but I've only been playing drums in a band for about 2 years, therefore I appreciate watching a pro, so I can learn a few things. Your tacets and half beat stops can cut like glass. Great job!
Very well done ! ~ Brilliant to listen to, and to watch your skill ............ and the cool, relaxed way you play the drums ~ This is also one of my favourite's ~ All the very best, Geoff
Domenic, Watched your Gallupi's Gear Guide it really helped. Just one more question well for now, do you play and record your covers with original tracks or drumless tracks. Thanks
I see you mic your kit, how are you recording your audio for the video is it open are or what it sounds really good and Im in the process of doing some covers myself. Ive listened to alot of different covers various drummers and your sound quility it the best any tips???
@gallupi1965 Thanks for taking the time to reply, and the help.... You are a talented drummer the best Ive seen on doing covers the as close to the original as possible!!! Keep on rocking and posting youve been very helpful I will check out your Gallupi's Gear Guide. Thanks again
Just great, Domenic. Your toms sound punchy & warm, and the rest of the kit is tuned so right for this song. That's some very skillful drumming navigating through all those changes. I've been wanting to cover this tune but have procrastinated as it would take me some time to practice it even though I played this back in a cover band in the late 70s. Yea cool artwork too.
@deathrocker0666 Well I do try to push myself to think about what I want to express in place of using cliches and worn out expressions. That's what I admire about the British, is their ability to articulate skillfully.
Superb mate I have been watching all your vids mate and love it. I am just learing to play myself just now at a mid life crisis age of 41 pmsl. They are very educational mate and thanks for uploading them. I come from Scotland and have a big brother who lives in Canada. Its is Canada you live???
That was great! The sound of the drums is perfect! Now I know it is possible to get a good sound with a mixer. Those EC2 heads sound awesome as well. I have G2's right now, but when it's time to change, I may try those. Keep up the good work!
I like the sound of your new heads Dom - you really have them dialed in now. I didn't think it was possible, but your kit sounds even better than before! Keep Rockin' and thank you for sharing another awesome video \m/

So many GREAT memories go along with this album. Not the best band live, but I bought are their albums and CD's after that. I have this one in my car right now.
Absolutely fabulous Domenic! Another great cover my friend. One of the best voices in rock in roll (RIP Brad). This was such an awesome album when it came out - I wore it out and had to buy a second one. Simply perfect Dom - from drumming to editing, you are one of the best on the tube! Sounds like you cranked up the volume on your condensors a little - nice sound on your cymbals! Good luck with your new band... email me info about it would you please?
great great great!!!!! cover loved this i remember being about 6 and someone left a Boston album on the train i didn't see who it was but it was the best thing i ever heard at that age even though i'm only 32 now great stuff mate fantastic
