  • were you using circle hooks?

  • @jawsflounderace I used them on and off. I think this fish was caught on a Striper Bass hook. I actually caught my biggest Fluke this year on a Striped Bass hook the beginning of June near the Statute of Liberty. 7.5 Pounder.

  • @jawsflounderace Not on these fish.

  • I know. Thanks and have a good weekend.

  • where was this. where i am blues dont come till june. what bait?

  • Staten Island, New York. April seemed early to me and I was really suprised when we hooked up...

  • well u r lucky u caught em then

  • @FishOnFishing Never saw your note sorry. I was using Bunker that comes into the Staten Island area.

  • Blues are my favorite fish to catch. Nothing fights like them pound for pound. But every time I try to take my kids out to catch them they get seasick.

  • They definitely are great fighters. Too bad your kids get sick when you go out. Did you try Darmamine at all? Thanks for writihng and have fun fishing.

  • The small ones are good to eat. When they get too big, they get a bit oily and fishy tasting. Some people like the big ones too.

  • never heard of blues before, maybe cuz we don't have it here. haha but wow are those good to eat?

  • i caught an eel once

  • We use eels to catch Striper Bass so you know.

  • Nice size fish.I live in Staten Island.

  • Cool place. Thanks for your comment. We have been fishing the Kills by boat for the past 10 years. My kids love it there. That was April and pretty early for Blues this year.

  • Thats alot of years you have been fishing there.

  • Tons of Stripers, Weak Fish, Fluke and Blue Fish there. Great spot to fish.

  • Do you know the name of that brownish-orange fish that look like a flying fish?

  • The brownish fishing is a Sea Robin. We catch tons of them on squid. They love it on the bottom. When you fish for Fluke they seem to show up a lot.+

  • Thanks for the name!I didn't know fish like squid.

  • Well Jighead is the only thing that work for me.:).

  • Fluke and Sea Robins love spearing and squid.

  • she did a good job what bait was she using

  • Sorry I just noticed your comment. She was using bunker. We caught some and threw it out.
