  • Rick Allen is naked at 3:48.

  • oh yeahhhhh!

    2:43

  • written by "steamin Steve Clark!!!!" this is his song!!!!!!

  • For anyone who thinks Def Leppard sold out, watch Ultimate Albums: Pyromania. They didn't sell out. What they did was try making Metal appeal to other Rock fans because Pop was dominating the music industry and Def Leppard tried and succeeded into making Metal popular again. What they did was mix Glam Rock (Also one of the genres of music they grew up to) and Heavy Metal into something everyone can listen to. Also this music wasn't popular at the time anyway so how did they sell out?

  • The improvised solos are very cool!

  • FK Collins gimme back my FKN Willis !!!!

  • Steve "Steamin" Clark

  • man im wasted too. hahahahaha

  • i seen them in early 90`s at lacrosse wi.,i didnt think much of the concert,no opening band, just them.

  • This is fucking great! They kicked ass for this whole Dortmund '83 concert. Wasn't the line up something like Quiet Riot, Def Leppard, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Scorpions, and Iron Maiden? That has to be the concert line up I've ever heard of!! Anyways, it's hard to believe that Def Leppard was once this great. Joe Elliot sounds incredible and the move he does with Steve at 2:43 is one of the coolest stage moves I've ever seen.

  • What a class act these guys are. They could have easily ditched the drummer but rather stood by him and did everything they could to get him playing again.

  • wonder why Elliott's voice is shit these days? the answer is in the opening seconds of this vid: he screamed the velvet off it back in the day!

  • It seems like Joe Elliot gained a wider range in his voice (which tends to happen) over the course of 6 years, and that's when they started leaning more towards poppy love songs.

  • @CaptainPerverto very true. i wish they kept there first 4 album sound :( i would be soo much more happy

  • It might piss some people off that folk say Def Lep sold out, but seriously I've never seen any band sell out as quick. They were the brightest freshest rising stars of NWOBHM - and went to being powder puff tinsel popsters almost overnight.. Sad.

  • @northernhecklet

i think during hysteria, steve didnt want to be a panzy, and they wouldnt let him write what he wanted, this could be the reason he drank so much off the road, causing his death, of course they wouldnt tell you something like that.

  • Raw. This reflects their 16-year old mentality, which is about the age each of them were when they wrote it.

It's loud and driving, but an immature composition.

    As they aged, they improved.

  • @TruthAxe by "Improved" do you mean "suck ass"?

  • @sargentD808 Something like that.

  • This is a savage riff. The kind I like to crank up in my 2003 Pontiac! hahahaha......not serious. Well about the song not the car.

  • "Let's get wasteeeed!" :D Great tune, RIP Steve...

  • I was listening to them recently and I love their first 4 albums for different reasons.

After that their albums got so lush it was gross. They miss Steve Clark. Me too.

  • They did sellout, they also dissed their fan base that put them in the position to be able to have the privilege to make a living on the stage.

They went from being a part of The NWOBHM to media darlings. As much as they like to try to distance this fact during those days they were not saying anything to the contrary.

  • why they stop to do song like this ? i mean this is great but put some sguar on me is fucking gay

  • This song should end EVERY concert that Def Leppard does for the encore, AC/DC would never do a show and ignore HIghway to Hell. Def Leppard and Joe Elliott in particular forgets where it all started.

  • It looks like this was one of their best concerts. I wish they would have released a live album of it.

  • Def Leppard was one kick ass rock band during this time period.

  • Iron Maiden was far better in this show.

  • There is no doubt that this is def leppard at its best! Joe sounds awesome, steve too!

I only wish joe still could sing like this and steve still was alive, rip mr clark

  • Excellent solos! Def Leppard with an amazing firepower!

  • nice vid, one of the best songs of old good DEF LEPPARD

hey i also have a tribute vid to def leppard,:

    naruto def leppard rocket_0001.WMV

  • Best tune with Def Leppard in my opinion. This live version is really heavy & raw!

  • This was the first track I heard by the guys (not the album version). Still a fav - a really great rock song. Love the video - when they were still a rock band...

  • who can fuck with them.nobody.the best fuckn rock group ever.the vocals, the music.and a one armed drummer.he beating the shit out of those drums.thanks for postin the fuckn great def leppard.

  • I suddenly want a white blazer with the sleeves cut off and a red neckerchief.

  • Comment removed

  • Make that a black neckerchief with white polka dots.

  • que potencia que hijueputa

  • @rocdocdave505 I sort of agree, but Pyromania was pretty fantastic. Even though it started to get into commercial territory, it was still very hard rock, and it was even harder rock live as proven by this video, even though Phil's playing. Look up the rest of their Dortmund performance or the audio from the Great Western Forum 1983 performance and you'll see what I mean.

  • I dont get why people complain about on how they think they are bad now just because steve died, that does make a difference they are still good either way...RIP Steve Steamin Clarke <3

  • @SteveClarkRockGod First off you spelled his name wrong CLARK (no E) and second it looks like now they tossed Steve instead of hiatus like the band said. The bnad got rid of Steve just the same way they got rid of Pete only Steve died first. Steve had all the talent THAT's why they are not the same.

  • @TrueSMCfan Right on! Production can only take you so far. Musical talent is still required.

  • @TrueSMCfan It was an accident I just do it sometimes, didnt catch it and Im just a huge lepp fan along with steve clark fan and hes my idol so....

  • @SteveClarkRockGod Well there is a difference in the music. I don't hate on the band but they were better and did more organic rock with Steve. I mean The Steve years rock out. Sorry but these past albums in the last twenty years while ok just don't rock out as hard.

  • this one is better than today's version of this song because it is steve and phil and on the new one it is vivian and phil but it sucks. there are some fun in steve and phil not vivian and phil

  • steve and phil version is better than vivian and phil's

  • joes voice is much higher than the vid of this song in 79 big difforence

  • Do you have any idea how much of a chore it is to play a Les Paul at dick level like Steve did? Screw all the new panzies who think they're the cat's ass; watch this guy and learn.

  • I've tried playiing my Les Paul at dick level and it aint easy. But I'm gonna keep practicing until I get it right. Also I gotta learn some of his stage moves. That guy was what a true rock star should be.

  • @nwbritt yeah i hear ya bro ,ive done the same,i just got a cramp and shaggers back!...clarkey was a god indeed.

  • yeah, but he made it look so easy, and then all of the stage moves he could do with it just blows my mind. Alot of people rag on Les Pauls because of there weight but Steve didnt seem to have any problems slinging his around.

  • Steve Clark was a true bad ass of metal, hands down. But the band's last worth while album was Pyromania. RIP, Steve. We miss ya.

  • This is Heavy Metal!

  • When Metal was Metal............

  • Totally agree with D7J7W7

  • Thank you my friend of hard rock/metal

  • i love the guitar riff in this song!!

  • its actually a pretty easy riff, just fast as hell and thats what gives it that super cool sound.

  • fucking beautiful

  • DEF LEPPARD 4LIFE !

  • collin in that flimsy t-shirt

  • anyone know if collen or if it was still willis?

  • that song is amazing one reason steve clark wrote it and other stuff rest in peace riffmaster

  • Reminds me of Barb H and myD..k

  • best fuckin tune on OTTN

  • It really pisses me off when people say that Def Leppard sold out in the 80s. They never did anything that they didn't want to. You can tell that they really love all of their songs and they continue to work their asses off on new albums every few years even though they know they aren't going to sell anything like Pyromania and Hysteria. Def Leppard is the complete opposite of a sell out. They are as passionate about their music as any lousy garage band that no one cares about.

  • Well said!

  • i saw them in brisbane last november for the second time in my life and have been a maiden/leppard junkie since 82.neither of these amazing bands have waned,in fact they now have an aura of craftmanship that only decades of experience creates...............ROCK ON!!!!

  • i agree with you without steve and phil crazy style there wouldn't be pyromania or hysteria and they still make good style music it's different tho and vivian isn't steve clark but vivian can nail most of the tones i hope they continue the career there wouldn't be another hysteria it's a classic because of rick thunder god allen car accident and i think they are going to play billy gotta gun for a tribute of steve clark r.i.b

  • Sorry dude but Def Lepard sold out in the mid-80's after Pyromania. They were THE BEST, then went bubblegum. I can't sugarcoat the truth....

  • So what?! Sold out to what?

    Hysteria after Pyromania was awesome.

Gotta grow up sometime and earn a living.

  • tbart - they sold a lot of records from Pyromania, they could've stayed with the hard rock but they went for the $ and got softer. Just thinking of what could've been...I still listen to albums 1-3 a lot but they can pour some sugar on someone else!

  • @bauerforprez .lol. I saw them on the pyromania tour, and before. as regards a sell out, lets talk about willis who co-wrote 50% of the 1st 2 albums (brilliant btw). steve clark wrote pyromania, and wat av the sucessors done, well phil collen has managed to get bald and write shit, campell slagged off ronnie and ripped off sweet savage, rick lost an arm, the other rick played with his hair... the leps were pete W and steve C, the 1st 2 albums testify to this.

  • @bauerforprez Have you listened to thier first two albums? All I can say is that was real Rock n Roll. DEF LEPPARD ARE SELLOUTS! They sold out their original style for the mainstream pop crap. They completely sold out their original fans. They fucking sucked after Steves death. Moron, the real Def Leppard is the workings of Pete Wilis and Steve Clark. After 1983 they went right downhill, anything before was classic, true to their roots Rock n Roll...and that won't be forgotten by their real fans

  • @ultrachasersfan Def Leppard always wanted to be a pop band they hated the first album and considered High N Dry there first proper album, they were never sell out and Pete Willis got fired because he had alcohol problems he was sometimes walking off stage in the middle of a show and other stuff thats why they replaced him(I like Pete no offence). Def never wanted to be rock or metal.

  • @TheWho58 Def Leppard always wanted to be a pop band huh? So in 1977 Def Leppard formed and entered the NWOBHM scene while secretly planning to one day kick out their original guitarist and be the marvelous pop band they always dreamed off.....please, they sold out for the record sales!

Def Leppard 1977-1983, the Rock N Roll years.

  • @ultrachasersfan Yes they always wanted to be a pop band Def leppard never liked how On Through The Night was produced they said it wasn't there style of music which is understandable since the guy's in Leppard were into Glam rock/ pop bands like Sweet, Slade, Bowie etc while Saxon, Maiden, Diamond head & the rest of the nwobhm bands were into Sabbath, priest, ufo, totally different influences. Pete had drinking problems and Leppard couldn't handle him.

  • Pete Willis formed Def Leppard, that album released in 1980, consisted of material written during their formation in 1977, can be heard on earlier E.P. I doubt there was any problems during production, they went in that studio with the Rock N Roll they played for the last 3 years. What was heard on that album was Def Leppard. Pete was kicked out "alcohol problems", went on to play in other NWOBHM bands. Def Leppard will be remember for their sellout candy coated crap.

  • @bauerforprez Yeah I know they set the trend for 80s pop metal. They did not follow trends.

  • @bauerforprez

I agree *comming from a loyal Def Leppard fan*

  • Awesome riff

  • I wish I could time warp back to 1983 and go to this concert. Joe's voice sounds awesome.

  • IM SO WASTED, Just kidding. what a cool song....

  • im not im soo fuckin high right now

  • you have to admit though, anything from Pyromania or Hysteria would still kick the balls out of most of the excuse-for-music on the top 40 airwaves today!

  • agreed,i try to keep an open ear to what my teen daughter calls music, luckily my kids willingly like metal, but i cant help feeling like they are missing the magic of arena rock.whats out there NELLY?,JONAS BABIES?

  • Rock and particularly Metal, used to be the music of expressing anger and rebellion. With Glam metal, it became a party time image, which was fine, until it became overblown and overused.

Thats when Gangsta Rap came in, it became that new expression of anger and rebellion, and it too, became overblown and overused. and just like Glam...is now a stagnant party-time scene. except even worse.

this would be a prime time for metal to take center stage again, but stupidly, no one is trying.

  • mhm exactley

  • DEF LEPPARD 4LIFE !

  • 100000000000000000% NWOBHM

  • I guess i cant argue with that smithwayne100. i Was just bummed back in 83 when my favorite band went pop. but i do agree it would be hard to not want to make all that money. and there not the only band that went soft for hard cash. REOSPEEDWAGON once rocked also. and they went even softer then defleppard did

  • They don't make 'em like this anymore! Def Leppard without Steve Clark is a very different animal.

  • Beautiful. Thanks for posting. 17 stars!

  • wow, one of my favorite def lep songs!

  • well their first 2 albums were some of the best hard rock recorded. after that it was just radio friendly crap. but i know alot of people liked it. i dont when I listen to deflepard. its the first 2 albums I want to hear.not the pop music they produced after that

  • i nearly agree, there was some good stuff on pyromania, then it went all American, over produced.

Still they made the correct decsion they made millions. But musically for me went the wrong way.

  • Well, just have a listen to the bonus CD on the 2009 Pyromania reissue or look for the videos from In The Round In Your Face here on YouTube... at least, they still rocked while playing live. The material was often very good, but I have to agree that it was overproduced... I prefer listening to the live version of the songs from Pyromania and Hysteria rather than the studio ones.

  • yeah I bet they do sound alot better live. I have a friend who went and seen them.He didnt even like the group but his wife wanted to go. He said it was a pretty good concert. He said they rock the songs alot harder live

  • It is really saddening.. One would think the songs would prove to be good life lessons for them to avoid that kind of addiction. Who knows? Rick maybe would still have both arms to kick butt away on the drums even more so and Steve would be around to jam like he did in this concert video today. SAD...

  • yeah i got tons of comments people telling me how dumb i am. that pyro was their best album. yeah right, def leppard is considered an 80's nostelgic hairband. not because they dont have talent.its because they sold out and went for the big money in radio friendly pop tunes. they would be rock legends had they stuck with the original line up and formula.and i believe the money would have eventually come.look at zeppelin. they only had 2 top 40 hits.but they are all rich and repected by many

  • It is very obvious you haven't researched enough information about Def Leppard to know that they're not a HEAVY METAL BAND, thank GOD! Read up on who their influences were/are. If you want to think 5 men would write & play tunes they didn't like, just for $, for 25 years, then your missing out, I feel sorry for you. Buy the CD "YEAH" that should straighten you right up my dear.

I've been a fan since I was 15 and I'm 42. Keep your heavier music, it's just different. Tabloids, pfftt !

    Peace.

  • To be fair, in this day and age of Rap/R&B and general shit-dominated music industry, EVERYONE within the Classic Rock/Old School Metal community are considered nostalgic jokes! Because society has simply lost touch with music.

  • Lets get WASTED!!! a great song to drag race to, when i was younger.

  • Only time I saw these guys live was when they opened for Ozzy in 81. Yes Randy Rhodes was with Oz then. Awesome Show. Ears rang for 2 days!

  • Thats cuz the drummer had 2 arms then....

  • This is one of the best rock and roll performances I've ever seen!!!

  • kick ass tune...thanks for posting.

  • def leppard or the music industry will never be the same without steve clark

  • Phil looks a bit like Rod Stewart to me in this era, anyone else see it or is it just me.

  • i definitly agree with you on that.

he looks chunkier a bit too.

  • there was a time, when metal was not all associated with cradle of filth.

1983 was one of those times. times change and beliefs change with the times.

def leppard are metal. this song is metal.

  • they wernt has hard rock after this album any ways they melod out a little in high 'n' dry and kept it that way in pyromania to

  • Don't diss them on Steve Clarks Birthday Listen to the MASTER that made Leppard what they once were. Happy Birthday RIFFMASTER

  • you must be a really big fan of crappy pop music then. because pour some suger on me is in my opinion one of the worse songs Ive ever heard. Its a disgrace to what defleppard once was

  • Do you know Steve wrote the riff for that song? Which is what most Steve fans appreciate the song for his guitar riff. Today is his birthday show a little respect for him please.

  • It really isn't that bad. Definatley not one of the worst songs ever.

  • yep... totally agreed. They actually played good music once and most people don't even know it...

  • Once? ugh

  • hail to the guitar MASTER. Steve kicks major ASS.

  • now go listen to "pour some suger on me"then tell that they havent went pop

  • i have listeed to pour some sugar on me. i siad they were great till 92.

  • It's not pop...just not hard rock anymore.

  • This is why I got into Def in '83...this album just blew me away!

  • you right it was pete willis not wilson. i knew that. just typed wilson by acident

  • fukin quality riff

  • First of all, it was Pete Willis, not Wilson, second, yes, some of the later songs do have a poppier edge, but on the whole, most of what they did after Pete was just as rockin', simply more refined, and less complicated, as Pete had a bad tendency to write riffs that were hard to play even for him, and he spent enough time drunk to make it even harder. If you listen close enough, you'll see that the same influences are still there, they just became easier to showcase.

  • the best song they ever did. in my opinion their best stuff was off their first 2 albums. when they kicked out pete wilson their sound went much more pop and i didnt care for it. alot of people liked the albums after that and most never even heard those first 2 rocking albums.they had loads of success but i often wonder what their albums would have sounded like if they had kept the original line up and the harder edge sound

  • metallica was the same way. their first 2 albums were their best work.they started going downhill after mustaine's songs were gone which was in 86. mustaine and willis should talk to each other. metallica and def leppard wrer great till 91/92. now they both suck. try lisening to their new albums. too bad i was born in 89.

  • nothing like early 80's metallica and def leppard. rock on!

  • Abso-fuckin-lutely RIGHT! Def Leppard after High N Dry was utter shit. I don't care what anybody says, those first two albums were KILLER and pretty much everything after was FILLER. All hail the mighty dollar, eh boys?

Oh, and screw the populace for making them rich with that tripe. They should've made them rich with the first two albums, maybe Def Lep would'nt have turned to shit then!

  • I agree about the first two albums. Musically, I think they deserved more merit. What also bothers me though...is that they wrote and performed three great HARD hitting songs about the price of substance abuse (Wasted, High 'N' Dry and Me and My Wine.) yet that is what led to Rick Allen's arm-losing car accident and later Steve Clark's overdose death.

  • .....They were also teenagers.....

  • Fuking Love The Solo Work ♥

  • Just a bunch of pups kickin' the world's ass.......very, very cool.

  • FUCKIN' AWESOME!!!

  • beautifull

  • one of their best songs

    and great presentation

    one of my favorites bands

    def leppard forever

  • I saw them in 83 @ Allentown Fair...Gary Moore & Krokus opened Good Damn Show!!!!

  • The most metal song they ever did

  • this is classic!!!

    Love Phil's Ibanez Destroyer!!

  • this was the only song written by steve his whole carrer

  • You`re wrong.

  • Yes he co wrote a LOT of other songs...but this is the only song that he himself wrote every lyric, every guitar note, and everything. It says on my def leppard behind the music video.

  • Okay!

And let me say this is one of the most rocking songs EVER!

  • Don't forget switch 625. I think also me and my wine was all done by him. I am not too sure, but I think it was.

  • True!

    He wrote it for me.

  • Steve wrote the song musically but Joe wrote the lyrics, both are listed on the credits. Or thats the way I understood it.

  • Steve actually wrote the song in full, complete.

  • I was going by what it says on the album credits that it says Wasted was written by Clark and Elliott.

  • I would not deny what your saying is true as well. As I was recently going on an interview with Joe stating it was totally written by Steve. Either way him alone or with Joe, great song!

  • This Is WAS the shit early leppard THIS IS MAGIC!! R.I.P. STEAMING

  • "on through the night" best def leppard album for me! this song kicks ass! my opinion, i agree with splat

  • Sorry dude.I love all eras from Def Leppard.

But the Mutt Lange one was the best.

  • Now this is the Def Leppard I used to love. No disrespect to their success later on, this was a lot more "real". No 1,000 tracks of layering BS layed on by Mutt Lange. LOVE THIS!

  • British Steel! I swear that's my favorite music scene of all time. Living in England from mid 70s to early mid 80s would of been awesome. I think that's the best heavy metal produced. I love some thrash and pop metal, but the riffs and that tough distortion but not overdone is just perfect. I'm tired of all this posser metalcore bands that only emphasize speed, unhuman screams and loudness. This is the real deal, nobody f'in gets close to the British Steel!

  • This kicks major arse!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best thing about these guys is that they were "real musicians" unlike so many so-called modern day musicians.

  • I saw these guys open for Ozzy in August 81 and then again on this tour as the headline act. pure awesomeness...

  • That was a good decision I think. lol Wow you have only MISSED them once and I have never seen them ONCE! Aerosmith is my next favorite band and I have seen them several times and was NOT disappointed! I know I would absolutely after seeing those live DVDs!

  • This was an awesome performance! I can't get over Steve. My lord he was so freaking amazing. It's so sad that he was gone at such a young age. I wish he knew how mmuch everyone loved watching him and how great we think he was. The rest of they guys were awesome too. So young with so much energy! I love it. Joe really worked up a sweat, but it was a killer performance. That's why I love Def Leppard. They never fail to please!

  • Joe killed it with his awesome vocals! Steve sounded so dam great! Badass Solo I love it, U gotta love Leppard!

  • this is cool, cant beleive ive never heard before

  • :) way kewel yes?

  • I heard that Steve wrote this song. Look at him, he was sooo amazing. So much fun to watch! I have never heard this song all the way through, it rocks!!! I love it. I love Steve Clark!

  • yeah Steve really rocked.

  • ya it was actually his first real riff! i saw in an interview somewhere that he was in a bus and had this in his head and when he came home he just played it out on his guitar and came up with this. But i cant find the interview anymore :(

  • I believe that! The man was a gorgeous, freakin' genious! The guitar is part of him.
