@leMazbas I played Classic and TBC. PvP gear was just time spent, not skill, and a baddie could get carried through a raid. I didn't see him take out a single player who played intelligently in that video. There were plenty of ways to counter a mage. You don't see him deal with a paladin who FoL's himself to keep his health out of 2-shot range and cleanses off the slows and roots. You don't see him fight a warlock with a felhunter out, etc. He's got much better vids than this.

@ronaldsauce obviously when you see him 1vX (where x > 2) it means that his enemies are not exceptionally good and dont utilize their class to the max. Vurtne himself if you ask him he will never claim that is the best mage ever skill-wise, however he is a highly skilled mage that became famous because his movies had very high entertainment value, a good sense of humor and very good pvp content

Back then you had to think about your mana level rather than just smacking ice barrier and such as soon as the cooldown ended. It added an element of skill that no class has anymore since Wrath.

Vurtne videos still my fav pvp videos...people that joined wow during wotlk and cataclysm season should take a look at this vanilla and pret-tbc videos...this was the pure pvp with ranks!...although i like the current pvp system with machines and catapults and all that stuff.

@Kewld00d137 actually if you look at it from a non nostalgia point of view wotlk was far more balanced than bc ever was at least in terms of arena, in BC to be successful in 3v3 u had to either play WLD or RMP this left no room for shamans and paladins to succeed and the same could be said about 2v2 where the top comps were warrior Healer or rogue healer

@Kewld00d137 however in WOTLK to be successful in high end arena play u just had to be better than your opponents, while some comps were superior to others it could turn in the others teams favor if they were just purely better, also PvP was more like Vanilla wow in Wotlk than it was in BC where it was quick obvious damage that was easily avoidable if played well where as in BC it was mostly tunnel vision till something crits or someone ooms. I think we can all just agree that Cataclysm sux ass.

This video is definitely one of the best from Vurtne, but his use of engineering in first 2 videos, which was OP at that time makes him pretty bad. Anyway, have fun dueling while I sheep into ring of frost at 2745 rating ;DD I can't believe how easy arena has gotten. Give TBC back ;(

@MrAssassinful Sheep and RoF share DR. And when mages get trained in 3vs3 they can't do much casting so yeah, it's mostly ice lance spam. If you got good peels you can freecast into them but you could do that with any class. Most of the skills specific to mages is counting sheep DR and planning your cooldowns/snap more methodically than other classes need to.

@MrAssassinful Although PvP been getting worse since WotLK with so much instant CC and gibs, it's still playable imo. My main gripe with WoW is adding flying mounts and huge zones nobody ever uses, completely killing world PvP. To anybody who remembers Vanilla, even though it had some glaring balance issues, they remember the thrill of world PvP and I think it's what they're yearning for when they remember "the good old days".
