I used to row out by Heathrow in London. The first few practices, I was horrified by how loud the low flying jets were. A few months later, I wouldn't even notice a plane flying overhead unless it was particularly loud.
I live right by a naval air station, a highway and a busy intersection. I get jets, motorcycles, and emergency vehicles invading my ears at all hours. When we have our windows open to save on electricity, it gets unbearable.
I feel your pain. I once lived close to flight path of a major airport. Couldn't stand it and moved after 3 months. You can hack it for two weeks, especially if you know you can get a reasonable night's sleep,
