FINALLY IFOUND A PLACE WHERE EVERYONE FEELS THAT THE REAL HERO DIED!
MANHATTAN OLE "I have transcended the need for clothes" self... Should have just stay drinking the prespiring glass of water and left rorsharch alooonne...you know I rewatch the watchmen oping that ending will change...and everytime I see him being decimated into little pieces I want to punch something REAL hard. lol
I understand why Rorschach had to die but c'mon, he was the only true hero in the entire Watchmen. On a completely unrelated note though, what was the deal with his mask? I'm not talking about the 'Hollywood Magic' effect, but what was the movie explanation of the ever-changing mask? Emotions or something? And if so, how'd he make it?
@geckoguy555 thats something I always ask myself, Rorschach must be a scientific genius or his power is that the mask really is his face, like The Question
@jgotcha88 The only theory I have is that he made the ink react to heat in some way, so when he's angry and exhaling more forcefully and more often than he normally does, the mask takes on that 'pattern' if he's curious, he's holding his breath slightly longer than normal and the mask picks up on that absence of heat. It doesn't make perfect sense with all of the other emotions, but that's the most realistic thing I can come up with. Aside from, you know, *whispers* He's Chuck Norris >.>
The mask shifts are caused by the changes in body temperature, er... heat that is.
Rorschach didn't make the material, it was ordered by a girl, and when it got to the tailors shop she decided she didn't like it, he took it cause no one else wanted it, and he played around with it, etc., eventually forgot about it. Some years later a girl got killed, he remembered the material, and as he put it; made a face I could bear to look at in mirror.
@jgotcha88 Nope! His mask is composed of a fabric that was made by Dr.Manhattan. When Rorschach was younger he worked as a tailor, primarily with women's clothing and he stumbled upon a dress made of the signature black and white ink blot pattern fabric. He used the fabric to make his mask after the girl who ordered the dress said it was too ugly. The fabric is composed of some kind of oil between two layers of latex..or something like that. Hope that explanation helped.
@jgotcha88 From what I've read, his mask is just made out of a special fabric that reacts to changes in temperature - in this case, body heat. There was no explanation of that in the movie. You have to either read the comics (which I didn't) or be intrigued enough about the character to look it up on Google (which I did ^^).
@jgotcha88 Its explained in the book that his mask was actually a double layer of latex with black and white fluids floating in between which would never merge to create Grey and would respond to pressure and heat.
In the GN a journal entry says that it's made from two layers of fabric with fluid inside. He sewed in a sweatshop and picked it out of the garbage. So it moves as his features move.
@jgotcha88 The mask is made of a special material designed by Dr. Manhattan himself, and the efect is a reaction to temperature and facial expression changes, and Rorshach is not a scientist, he barely have knowledge of political and historical themes due to his time studying on the orphanage. all of that is explained in the original comic book.
@jgotcha88 Rorschach's mask (which he refers to as his "face") consisted of a specialized fabric, one that was actually two layers of fabric with viscous black and white fluids trapped between them. The fluids remained in constant motion, being affected by heat and pressure, however the black and white colors never combined to form gray. The patterns formed by the fluids also maintained a constant symmetrical pattern down the midline of whatever shape the fabric had been formed into.

The fluids remained in constant motion, being affected by heat and pressure, however the black and white colors never combined to form gray. The patterns formed by the fluids also maintained a constant symmetrical pattern down the midline of whatever shape the fabric had been formed into.
@jgotcha88 Rorschach was based off the Question. Alan Moore wanted to use the Question, but DC wouldn't let him, so he made up his own Question-esque character.
It's a black liquid suspended between two semitransparent layers of latext fabric, one of may new fashions introduced by Dr Manhatten in the mid eighties. It being his face is purely metaphorical. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
@jgotcha88 After leaving the Home for Problem Children when he was 16, Kovacs took a job as a garment worker in a dress shop, which he found "bearable but unpleasant" partly because he had to handle women's clothing; it was here that he acquired the fabric that he would later fashion into the mask he wears as Rorschach. The fabric, inspired by Dr. Manhattan, contained two heat and pressure-sensitive viscous fluids between layers of latex
in the comic they explained it. there is a special black liquid between two layer material. it moves always but it keeps the symmetric figure. if i remember well he made it from a woman dress when he worked in a tailor shop.
@geckoguy555 The mask is a kind of cloth that changes color based on temperature, making the blood in his face change the pattern. There's stuff like that now, but no where near as advanced. If I recall correctly, the reason for it's creation was that it was made by Dr. Manhattan. It was supposed to be the dress for Kitty Genovese (based on the real person) but she was murdered before she could get it. Rorschach took the dress and cut it into a mask and decided to fight crime.
@geckoguy555 He used to work in a clothing shop first discovered the fabric when he worked for a dressmaker. The fabric was originally made into a woman's dress and the marketing of such a product would be linked to Dr. Manhattan
@geckoguy555 It's explained in the Watchmen comic book that the mask is made in a specific way that I do not remember now and that's how it seems like magic.
@geckoguy555 It acually explains the mask in the comic book. He used to work for a synthetic fabric company, one day a woman wanted something that could change it's pattern, they had it made from a three layer insulated fabric with a ink like substance inbetween the layers. The woman did not want it so the boss went to throw it out but Walter [Rorschach] saw something interesting about it, something drew him to it, and the rest is history.
@geckoguy555 Dr. Manhattan (when he got his powers) made a dress with the chemicals inside it. Rorschach worked at a clothes store (yeah, i know, wierd) and no one wanted it, so he took it for his own and made a mask from it. Something like that anyways.
@geckoguy555 Befor Roschach became Rorschach, he had a job at a womans clothing department. Unbearable he said. I think Dr. Manhattan made a dress with the moving ink blots and some Itailian lady named Kitty ordered it but returned it and called it ugly. But Rorschach called it beautiful and made it his own.
@geckoguy555 back when he was 16, Rorschach worked in a woman's clothing department. Bearable but unpleasant. And Manhattan made this dress for reasons i dont know and this girl named Kitty was going to buy it but she thought it was ugly. And in the motion comic, Rorschach said it was beautiful and he made himself a face that he said he could bear to look at in the mirror
@geckoguy555 Well since Rorschach is a word to define those ink plot test psychologist use. The ever changing ink plots were to represent how the world could be in black and white most of the time. And that his emotions aren't things that couldn't be deciphered by a certain Rorschach test.
Oh and btw: Im pretty sure that the ink is inside the mask and when he wears it, it bends around the shape of his facial muscles.
@geckoguy555 when he was younger, to earn some extra money, he worked at a clothing store sowing and making outfits. one day, a women ordered a certain dress, but his boss (the girl who made it) got it wrong, and the lady said it was ugly and to throw it away. he thought it was beautiful, so he cut it and stitched it into a mask
@geckoguy555 the mask itself actually has 2 layers to it. one layer is pure white, while another is pure black. in the middle is some type of ink, or liquid. this liquid would move around and sway, but never mix with the white layer. it IS however, drawn (or attracted) to heat, which is why it always changes because the heat from his face is constantly changing. the mask is always symmetrical because of the way he cut and sowed it back up, and it changes because of the heat
@geckoguy555 however, on a side note (thought i should add this) the reason why he donned the mask as his face was because it reflected his entire personality (and relationship with Dan, interestingly enough). to him, everything is black and white, crystal clear, right and wrong, just and unjust. same with the mask. it's always white and black, never compromising, never mixing, never turning into something different. always white and black, just like how he see's the world
@geckoguy555 Its made of material that has two layers with ink in the middle so it constantly moves, but only when contacted with heat so it dosnt move if he isnt wearing it. Dr manhattan created it for a womans dress. The woman didnt like it because it was ugly so she threw it away. Rorshach picked it up and turned something ugly into a face of fear and punishment. Its in the book, but not the movie.
@geckoguy555 Created by Dr. Manhattan, containing two heat and pressure-sensitive viscous fluids between layers of latex, creating a shifting black-on-white color effect without mixing to form gray, the material was for a dress that had been special-ordered by a Kitty Genovese (real person). Due to Genovese's fate, Kovacs made "a face he could bear to look at in the mirror" from the dress's fabric, becoming Rorschach. Read about him and Kitty Genovese on Wikipedia. The movie ignored all this.
@geckoguy555 The Comic's Explanation is that the mask had two layers, Rorscach made clothing as a child so he was skilled at using a special ink that is always moving.
@geckoguy555 in the comic book he worked as a " seemstress" and filched the material the mask was based on , it was a short run fashion. impregnated in between the layers was a shifting material Alla oil n water.
@geckoguy555 Old post and I have no idea if you've read the comic but they should have included how he came across his mask in the movie. It's a very important part of his story in the comic. Rorschach is appealed to the mask because it never mixes gray - he views the world as black and white, the good and bad, with no neutral. If you'd like, I can type up everything he says in the comic about it (if you haven't read it! LOL)
@oncemoreintothefray You don't have to do that, but thanks. I probably should read the comic some time lol. I'm still amazed I'm getting all of these replies lol.
@jgotcha88 Sorry for pretty much derailing all the comments lol, I didn't expect so many people to answer.
Awesome video! Absolutely love it. Rorschach was the best character in Watchmen, hands down. I don't think the film would have been watchable or even enjoyable if it hadn't been for his character. It sucks that he was killed though. Love this video! Great song choice!! Fits Rorschach perfectly!!
Wow! This is awesome! You did a really good job matching Rorschach to this song! It's got an awesome beat, and you did a really good job matching up scenes to lyrics. Also your editing is good. :D 5/5
Dude, there not going to compromise dramatic intensity and good storytelling just to save a fanboy favorite. No offense, but killing Nite Owl makes no sense.
I know I'm gonna get alot of hate for this, but I like Nite Owl better. But this song matches Rorschach so well that I appreciate him. In fact, he should be in a sequel to MK vs DC Universe.
I think when you attain godly power like Dr Manhattan has you kind've don't seem to care about what people think of your wedding tackle since you're capable of changing your body whenever you want :P
you could say the same about Wanted but theres a sequal comming out, plus alan moores a jerk and didnt want to be connected to the movie in the first place
For a reason, it was made for a comic. End of every issue was a clock on it's way to "doomsday 12". Also at the end was a treat like the published "Under the hood" pages on the first two issues, which supposedly one of the characters "Mason" made. It's so much more then what the movie showed, even if it was actuate
Dude, Alan Moore has been screwed over so many times when his books have been adapted to movie. V for Vedetta, LOEG, thats not being a jerk, thats being smart. Besides, It was never meant as a movie, it was meant to show what comics can do that television or film cant.
Besides, Wanted isnt art. Its a fairly well made book, but its not art. Making a sequel to Watchmen Is like making a sequel to A Clockwork Orange, Its not supposed to happen.
what? thats crazy...like just a movie sequel? the thing that made rorschach who he was those was his ideals. idk if they could match that haha still cool though
well its about silk spectre and nite owl who are married because it takes plae some time after the original movie, and their son becomes the new rorschach
this song fits Rorscach so well.

Watchmen should have been given a limited series, like on HBO or something. Would've been able to do a lot more in an episode.

Rorschach Rules!!!

Unkehz0r 2 years ago
ive heard that theyre gonna make a sequal that takes place like 18 years later and nite owl and silk spectres son becomes the second rorschach
Echo135 2 years ago 2
Impossible. Watchmen was a one time thing. writting another would be an insult to original writter.
flamingzeros1337 2 years ago 23
you could say the same about Wanted but theres a sequal comming out, plus alan moores a jerk and didnt want to be connected to the movie in the first place
Echo135 2 years ago
For a reason, it was made for a comic. End of every issue was a clock on it's way to "doomsday 12". Also at the end was a treat like the published "Under the hood" pages on the first two issues, which supposedly one of the characters "Mason" made. It's so much more then what the movie showed, even if it was actuate
browncoatz 2 years ago
Dude, Alan Moore has been screwed over so many times when his books have been adapted to movie. V for Vedetta, LOEG, thats not being a jerk, thats being smart. Besides, It was never meant as a movie, it was meant to show what comics can do that television or film cant.
theguru234 2 years ago
Besides, Wanted isnt art. Its a fairly well made book, but its not art. Making a sequel to Watchmen Is like making a sequel to A Clockwork Orange, Its not supposed to happen.
theguru234 2 years ago
or like a sequel to scarface
Ubertastic 2 years ago
@flamingzeros1337 Allan Moore considered writing a sequel, but encountered legal issues involving the rights to the characters.

what? thats crazy...like just a movie sequel? the thing that made rorschach who he was those was his ideals. idk if they could match that haha still cool though
ixideliriumixi 2 years ago
well its about silk spectre and nite owl who are married because it takes plae some time after the original movie, and their son becomes the new rorschach
Echo135 2 years ago
That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. Please tell me they aren't making that...

Thanks, I looked them up & the song is actually by All-Insane Kids & I believe used to promote a LEGO Bionicle film.
I can't find much information about them online here.
