I'd like to just point out that crane flies, while they're physically similar in appearance, don't share anything else in common with mosquitos, in fact, they EAT mosquitos. Crane flies are larger, they share a habitat, they both are flying insects, and they both go through the same metamorphasis but crane flies don't suck blood and cause no harm to humans or any mammals and carry no diseases..
Well given that the crane fly couldnt actually fly in that tiny box it didnt really stand a chance, you can use crane flies to kill red backs and funnel webs if you spot them, the crane fly is able to land on the spiders back and inject its deadly venom.
Isn't that the same as a "mosquito eater"? I know there's all kinds of names for those things...but I heard that they actually do bite, contrary to popular belief...
Yea, I know....it's not like I am sticking my hand in there and playing with it. She was just interesting to watch. I think I would have been a little more worried if it was a brown recluse....thanks for commenting.
dude black widows are way more poisonous than a brown recluse i have brown recluse every where were i live especially in my dads work shop a ton of them my brother has been bitten by a brown recluse too though but he got medicine before it got to bad
I called it a cranefly...can't you read. I only said super mosquito because that is what most people think they are...A flying insect vs. a Black Widow--I'll give it to the Black Widow 100% of the time...One of the Black Widows main nightly course is a mosquito...
I recently found out that the bug my spider was eating is called a "crane fly". Sometimes known as a Mosquito Hawk....looks like an over-sized mosquito to me...
Thats a crane fly not a super mosquito
