  • Hi AVDJ, beautifull portrait and it is much better narrated as my stuff! we also have a message: get the world connected through a universal thought and music. If you like you can join us It certainly is not a must. we will do music and art with as message: that we are all part of a something bigger!

  • The new Dodge Charger commercial reminds me of your voice.

  • @Truelove777 cool! That's what I was going for! lol

  • Beautiful - vision & observation. Respect!

  • @AnotherArtCommunity Thank you. Change did happen. It's good now.

  • nice

  • @UnidiscMusic Thank you.

  • Wonderful footage.... you really make a great commentator..... Enjoyed this:) jackie

  • @karaokewoman4life Thanks, Jackie. The High Line is getting even better. I went over the other day and they're adding portions where you can put your feet in pools of water while you sit and relax.

  • oh my beautiful laughing city. Hello Bugs i love you. P. s. the insects feel you. if we work together we can laugh more.

  • @wolffenhaus laughing more is a great goal.

  • Hi Mr. X - I want to send you the link but I don't have your e-mail address and I don't want to post it here. Pls e-mail me when you get a chance. Thanx!

    See you next month :)

  • See and observe

    More details emerge

    Insects are such fascinating creatures

  • so much to see... hey, I checked out your other "Chelsea Piers". incredible work, AVDJ.

  • Changing focal length, Static camera with movement though the shot. I love the bugs. They dont even know we're here

  • Beautiful photography! I especially enjoyed the insect close-ups. Very nice, indeed. Looks cold, hope you were bundled up. Thanks!

  • I recall commenting, in regards to the highline here. Came back to see Chelsea, and feel the flowers again. Love the yellows and your crafty focus work , makes them pop out on my screen! Excellent as always!

  • Change keeps it interesting and throws in the new and unexpected:)))

  • Thank You!

    ...n i'm out n walkin

takin some pictures of this area

n i'm wonderin what time it is...

lately, i'm takin pictures of insects but they don't

    even see me...

....i wonder what we could do

    if we work together!....

  • my sentiments exactly.

  • Wonderful.

    Changes. Yeah.

  • heh heh. you're right.

  • You sound like a lost, amused child. lol

I found this very soothing. I never noticed these things even though I've been hanging out in the city over a decade. Love the insect shots. Great vid.

  • Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. The Highline is relatively new, so no worries on missing it. They just opened it to the public this summer. I highly recommend it.

  • I always enjoy watching and listening to your creations. Such talent...and now a change...I patiently wait to see what that might entail:) Thanks for sharing your gifts.

  • thank you. I am waiting to find out what change will mean for me too! I am thinking about it a lot.

  • Gorgeous. Well done. Love your narration. :)

  • thanks, aleishar. :)

  • Stunning work!

i was moved by the images, sounds, and narration.

    very cool

    : )

  • Thank you, Brack3n.

  • I find my self watching your videos and thinking about the shots. As a maker, you get shots that the eye takes in daily and yet sees no artistic aspect to it. You stop, capture it, and transform amazingly benign shots into truly beautiful arrangements that certainly carry the viewer away. I'm jealous of your patience and eye for form. Sometime this winter, I want to do a San Diego vid, ala AVDJ.

Now. Let's talk about that music............ JUST....KIDDING! (not really)

  • Thanks very much, man. In my own opinion, I think it's about the sound. A lot of preparation goes into the soundtrack. If you give it a try, I would recommend that you record several minutes of ambient sound to cover the cuts. Again, many thanks. One day, maybe we'll get to meet and hang. That would be the best!

  • Hi AVDJ, good idea bro, we got to plan changes from time to time exactly what I have been doing the last couple of months too! Love your work man!!!

    cheers D.

  • Thanks, dudean. I am still unsure of where I am going with this, but I think I should shake it up a little. For real, I started thinking about this a long time ago, when you posted "Do Something Different." You got me thinking.

  • this relaxed me so much. i loved it!

  • Thanks, buddy. If only I could be so calming in person, ha ha!

  • Beautiful. Thank you.

  • thank YOU

  • oh wow, this was great! I really liked it!

  • Many thanks for checking it out, Breezy. I hope you're feeling better from your cold now.

  • This is what I like in your videos. You can always capture the beauty of any place you go to and at the same time makes us feel to be there. I am glad I did subscribed to your channel. Thanks again.

  • Thank you for saying so. The feedback helps me greatly. Have a lovely weekend.

  • hmm, when we see some change going on around us it's good to reevaluate how we relate to it case surely we're in the process of change too=)

    thanks for this perspective

Looks like a sweat bee at the end there. bugs are cool sometimes they know you're there mostly not though, the little ones:) such neat ones you found

  • yeah, the little yellow beetle was a great surprise. I never saw one like that before. I was sitting at the river bank and when I looked right in front of me, there it was! I am trying to keep my eye out for the small things around me. Thanks very much for checking it out.

  • your images are like moving photographs, so beautifully composed and it's always clear what the viewer is supposed to be seeing, where our focus of attention is supposed to be. I love getting to hear your thoughts and reflections. I hope we get to meet in the real world. If it's in New York you can take me to the highline park. It looks cool. :)

  • We will meet, for sure. Just a matter of timing, but I am patient. I hope we get to work on a project together one day. The timing on that is a little harder, ha ha. Next year, the highline will be twice as long as it is now. So far, they've only completed about 1/4, but it's going to be a new york landmark, in my estimation. Someday, it'll be famous world-wide.

  • change is important sometimes.

  • Sure is! I gotta change a lot! :)

  • Change is good, but change only the things that need some kind of improvement...

  • now the only problem is deciding which is which.

  • first of all many thanks for this....perspective and feelings

there are so many parallels that I share with this...so I found it truly moving, comforting, revealing and picturesque....it revealed change & HOPE

    many thanks friend for this

    Gary

  • Thank you, Gary. I've been trying to get better at using images to express what would otherwise be a vlog. I appreciate the kind words. :)

  • It's amazing what a little change can do to an unfamiliar place to make if familiar. Change is good.

  • Awesome, quiet peace runs through your work and your voice. I immensley enjoyed this AVDJ! Looking forward to what may come...

  • Thanks for the wonderful video. The photography is really great. You again bring joy to your viewers.

  • I love the bee's at work...

    ---

I'd look to connect with you if I was within 100 miles. Something about 3000 miles that puts a damper on a relationship. :)

    ---

3:05 I love lantana, such a great smell.

    ---

This was a great way to start a Sunday.

  • This was a wonderful video - the unique kind that make online video communities different from television, radio and podcasts. Your individual voice, music, filming and editing really work well together here. 5 starz! :-)

  • Hmm,wondering what the change is gonna be for you, something good I bet.I like the vision of less known New York that your vids give me and your voice over is really cool. The end result is like a wildlife/blog/community/journalism video and I think it works really well. Was a pleasure to watch!

  • Thanks, man. I am still working out the changes, but I think I need a new way to interact here, and it will come with some fits and starts. I intend to keep doing what I have been doing, but I want to add some new elements. I also want to promote some of the great artists I've found on the tube over the years. The art folk seem to get buried as a community. That should change. Thanks again.

  • this was a pleasure to watch.

  • thanks, mariam. maybe mike's told you what i'm up to. we'll see how it goes. thanks.

  • I simply love your crispy clear photography and your style. I loved the details, the insects and also noticed that lovely plants growing in the middle of the railway track!

Your style is like a breath of fresh air! Thank you AVDJ.

    Tara

  • Wow, that is a lovely thing to say, Tara. Thank you so much for the encouragement.

  • Another great one! You're real film maker, excellent timing and edition. I like the words also. 5*

  • Thank you. I was happy with the way the rhythm of the words worked out. It felt more natural to talk this time.

  • I liked the yellow/black spotted bettle.

I may borrow/steal your video style, I liked it.

Thanks for the scenes of the highline. I might take my guest there next weekend.

    Great to meet you!

  • Steal away, buddy. :)

You'll love the highline. Next year they will be opening Section 2 of the line. I can't wait to see it.

  • Gorgeous video. Who knew you could find so many insects hear the Chelsea Piers? The helicopter even looked like an insect. Do you know how to tilt shift? I don't, but it would have made the chopper look more insectivore.

I also love what the clouds did to the light.

    Change is good.

  • I'm not quite sure what you mean by "tilt shift," but figuring it out might be fun. I'll try. :) Yes, helicopters and insects are a good metaphorical match. Besides, there are so many helicopters around, you have to find some way to work them in. (so noisy!)

Thanks again for the summit last night. Some cool folks showed up. It's growing into a thing!

  • sweet man. we went there and filmed. good times. walking to and across the bklyn bridge after that was sweet.

  • yeah, man. I think the highline wasn't even opened yet when you visited. it's brand new, and they've only completed about 1/4 of it so far. I can't wait til it's totally ready. Good to see you making videos again, bro. :)

  • Change can be good! For the most part humans are creatures of habit, but it's exciting and adventurous to leave one's comfort zone now and then! I loved this entire video. Great camera too. Loved the insects. What kind of camera do you use?

  • thank you daligoddess. i use a Canon 2R850. It's a pretty cheap camera, but you can do a lot with it if you turn off the automatic focus and exposure..

  • change can be great... 5*****

    take good care and peace2U

  • thanks. Change is on the way.

  • Beautiful observed and shot short film. For a grey day, you have certainly cast a lot of light on Chelsea Piers, and your experience of it.

  • thank you. I found out that I prefer the diffuse light of an overcast day, when it comes to shooting. Chelsea Piers is becoming a favorite spot for me.

  • we have a botanical garden in my neighborhood here in Antwerp. About, hmmm...2 weeks ago i was walking through the garden (it's a shortcut to the grocery store) and began to monologue the entire walk in my mind. and then i started to laugh because i realized i was just pretending to be you...sans the camera.

change is good. the cocoon gets a little tight when you stay in it too long.

  • ha ha, that's funny! yeah, get this cocoon offa me!

  • change is good...i think we need it.....i love nyc too.

  • yeah, man. you said it.

  • Great job with the video...wonderful job! *****

  • Thanks, cameragirl.

  • ;] :)

  • thank you.

  • I wonder what you're gonna chaaaange..

  • I'm not totally sure myself just yet, but I will keep you posted.

  • Me too. We'll see what happens. Thanks, mandapop.

  • Really great juxtaposition of Manhattan and Nature. Truly lovely and honest. Great job!

  • Thanks, omniscientmoon. There are so many photogenic aspects of this city. I just love it here.

  • Thanks, omniscientmoon. The tricky part is controlling the sounds that are always present, no matter where you go. One day I will live somewhere else, and I imagine it will be quieter, lol. :)

  • This was very nice!

  • Thank you.

  • Really appreciate your reflections and perceptions of the world..And of your sweet home NY.

    ..Gotta change as all change's:-)

  • Thank you much, Boucrate. I will heed your advice.

  • Well look's like you're having disappearing comments also! ô0!

  • yeah, man. Something is up. They usually fix things on Wednesdays, so let's see...

  • change is good

  • You are right about that. Thanks, buddy.
