  • he reminds me of dennis chambers a lot!

  • yall need to shut the fuck up and go practice!

  • does anyone knoe the name of this song there playing and where i can get it

  • Ok, for those of you saying that he's not an pretentious prick, just look at his shirt. It says, "Yes, it's really me." No more need to argue about his body language and how he threw his damn sticks, huh.

  • fuck yo couch!

  • wonderful Talent, thanks for posting

  • Yeah, he is an arrogant, drama queen! He could play though. A bit too busy for my ass. Could stand NOT to use every lick at every moment. Starts sounding non-musical and more soloish... play for the SONG!

  • He has a fast bass drum foot. All these gospel drummers do. Is this like a prerequisite !!!!! I never ever hear Metal drummers do single bass craziness ............ well except for Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden !!!!

  • @STIXAHOY Most gospel drummers play single pedal..... cause the genre doesn't demand double pedals like metal.... and maybe to some extent gives gospel drummers that edge.... seeing that metal drummers most times just flying into double pedal stuff..... But Check out Mario Duplantier from Gojira and Tomas Haake from Meshuggah dem boys feet KICK! :p

  • that was just SICK.

  • Falta de Humildade dele em ?

    pra que fazer isso ? se acha dms . Sou muito mais o Tony Royster Jr ; FOREVER ;

  • nothing wrong with feeling proud. imagine the adrenaline rush you get after playing something like that.

  • I agree he's not arrogant as a person. I know this because I've talked to him on at least six different occasion. Twice before joining Stanley band and at least four times after joining Stanley band. I've ran into him at a few jam session around L.A. and twice at Catalina, seeing Billy Cobham and Marcus Miller bands. He even stopped at my table of fellow Drummers. Every time he was pleasant and approachable, HOWEVER, when he get on those DRUMS ....HE.... goes from Clark Kent to SUPERMAN!

  • well when you play a song as intense and as fast as he did you'll throw your sticks for two reasons. 1) your tired and 2) your pumped as shit from playing such a badass song.

  • I also trow my sticks away. because sometimes its just to intens

  • A modern day cross between Narada Micheal Walden, Cobham & Tony Williams !!!

    Slammin !!! Heavy !!!

  • I heard him last week in NYC with Kenny Garrett, and it was quite inspiring!

  • this guy has the cleanest rolls ive ever heard, seriously.

  • what kind of ride is that?

  • @drumboi29 Zildjian 19" Z3 Trash Ride, I suppose

  • Now That Was Nasty!!! Two Thumbs Up Love The Kit To!

  • See more of Ron Burner, Jr. on SoulDrummers . com.

  • amazing!!! the job in the drums of people like them ( tony royster, thomas pridgen, eric moore, aaron spears and ronald bruner jr) its greate, the other planet!!!

  • has a tony royster jr sound, but they each have their own style. nice clip

  • Ronald Bruner=This generation's Billy Cobham (Powerhouse,Taking risks,etc)

    Tony Royster=This generation's Dennis Chambers(Clean,Speed,Power)

both can groove if they choose to.

  • @Moog167

And Thomas Pridgen = A style all of his own, making him better than both.

  • @PoeticJustice05 That is very very biased....Bruner,Royster,Pridgen has definately shedded together and learned a lot from each other also they have VERY similar backgrounds theres no one better here. It's all preference

  • This is so tight!!

  • Put's que la merda !

    toca de mais ...

  • This drummer's awesome...period

  • That is a funky looking ride.

  • amazing...

and i love his selection of symbols, but i cant quite tell what the ride is - could someone help me there??

  • @88MapeX88

    Zildjian Z3 19" trash ride

  • @88MapeX88 Me too!

  • after hearing a guy like him play, who goes to their drums trying to sound at least half as good, and you only realize how bad you r ??lol

  • Tad unconventional for the music, but still awesome

  • dayum!! someone throw a towel over this nigga's shoulders and walk him out like James Brown! fiya!

  • Of course he's a tit, most people are. I am. I'm an enormous self obsessed cock of a man.. Marvelous.

  • " ok i have nailed the dc thing, i have practised 20 years constantly.. now i am gonna threw my drumsticks away and sit on the ground 4 some rest finally... "

  • in terms of overall, speed, power, technique, control etc. who do u guys think is better? tony royster jr or ronald bruner jr??

  • @princeofwoodbridge ....tony royster jr. , by far.

  • @princeofwoodbridge U guys are killing me w/ this dumb ish!!!!!!! WHO CARES who faster/cleaner/power/etc...., they're both great players doing what they do..........now go do what YOU do, work on your Own thing, Jeez!!!!!

  • By the looks of things, most of the people calling this man arrogant don't even understand the meaning of the word. Which means to make assumptions.

So no he's not arrogant is he - unless he says "I am the best drummer"

he's just passionate and it's ok to know when you are fucking good at something!!

  • what is this style of music?

  • I don't give a fuck if he's arrogant or not; he's better than anyone who is bringing that up. For the record... No he isn't.

  • MAn u guys are crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!! this dude is freakin amazing! I grew up thinking there was no body better than chris coleman who was my drum teacher, I'm good but this dude is freakn phenomenal. I dont know if he can get Chris but he can give hima run for his money no dat!

And by him throwing his sticks showed a sign that he is passionate about his playing and he is showing it from the beginning to the end of the song, Real musician would have seen that duh!

  • WOW! Where did this guy come from?

  • I love his style and the set up

  • those drums sound very sexy....

i have finished like 4 gigs the way he did...feels awesome

  • hes the best

    full stop

    .

  • this is beautiful.

    & what's the name of the song ? it's catchy !

  • if you don't like this you are stupid!!!

  • love hes set, what kind of drum set is that ???

  • @dgkk2 i think its a tama, cause he was in the promotion video for superstar hyperdrive...

  • @dgkk2

    tama

    starclassic bubunga

    ronald bruner signature

  • @TheMASDrummer

  • the end was pretty sick

  • Does anyone know the name of the group he's performing with?

  • How have I never heard of this guy before? Holy crap he's great!

  • huau!

  • BEAST,if i was this much of a beast i would get up and jump the fuck around

  • This guy would kick tony roysters ass

  • the chords a raw on this vid

  • this dude is too good to have a soft.smooth jazz backing rhythm instruments

  • I like how on his 8 10 and 13 inch toms there are different heads than on his 12 inch and floor toms

  • cant stop klicking at 0:54...watch those boobies shakin'

  • what ride is that??

    someone please tell me!!!!!!!!!!!

  • All I could do squint, smile, laugh and say daaammmmn lol yo I dig ronald jusa great drummer all around, deff one of my favs

  • Funny to see how Ronald Bruner was cocky to drop his sticks, but Chris Dave was the MAN when he did it playing Flashing Lights @ an Erykah Badu soundcheck. ... just an observation ....

  • first of all, why is someone deemed a "hater" if he/she didnt like what someone did? Its called having an opinion. I'm not a hater, and although a guy like bruner can do what ever he wants after a show, --- still makes him look cocky and arrogant after throwing his sticks, it was distastful - no doubt about it, -- i've seen so many drummers live Weckl, Steve Smith, Marcus Baylor, Cobham, Lathham, Chambers, Garibaldi, Beauford, & many more, never have i seen them arrogantly thro sticks like that

  • That was awesome! It's like, " Game Over ".

  • wow!!!!!

  • This drumset sounds amazing.... does anybody know what drumset this is??ß

  • @MusicmanVF.... It's a Tama Starclassic kit...Most likely a african bubinga shell

with the outer finish.. maple...I have a set and they are the best drums I have ever

    played!!!!

  • Saw him last night with Stanley Clarke, Hiromi and Ruslan Sirota! Amazing! Amazing! They're on tour right now. Check Stanley's website for tour info if you want to see them. All killer musicians! I don't think there was one single person in the audience eho wasn't absolutely blown away. Oh, and about the "arrogant" comments that someone posted? I met him, and he seemed like a nice guy, and seemed excited about playing.

  • bassist is?

  • Can't wait to see this guy with Stanley Clarke and Hiromi here in Toronto in a couple of weeks! As much as I like Stanley's "Jazz From the Garden", I'm hoping this lineup will do some heavy-handed killer fusion live, which they obviously excel at!

  • @JoeSzilagy

REally?? where at? I live just north of the city

  • I know Ronald. He's always thrown sticks and stuff like that. On a jazz concert of mine, he stood up at the end and held his throne in the air. (Funny to watch the video now.) He's always been good, too. It seems either people love or hate him, but you have to admit he's got ridiculous chops. I miss playing straight ahead jazz with him- you can't help but be fire up by his energy. You could never get him to play a ballad without looking horribly bored though! Haha!

  • I personally dont mind the stick throwing. Being a showman is a part of what makes the successful people in this artform successful. If everyone did it the same, we'd never know who did it better right?

  • WTF's with all the hate? I bet if were there live you wouldn't have said "good solo but you ruined it with how you threw your sticks on the floor". Also the whole point of playing chops is to show off, you need to be a bit arrogant.

  • WOW

  • ignorance! that's what it is.. he is great!!! wow!

  • maangas na malupet!..haha..

  • it was awesome

  • The world is full of haters. Someone will hate what you do until the day you die but its our job like Bruner to not let it phase you. The people talkin smack now have haters so its nuthing new.

  • everyone is hatin on him!!! so he throws his sticks, did you ever think being so fast ur hands might hurt or cramp? you deffinantlly aint no drummer. I throw mines down when I go to fast.. So get a bigger cup for your HATER-O-RADE...I bet ur not as fast as ronald

  • well you have to remember that everyone posting negatively of Ronald are all globally known world class drummers that have themselves been invited to appear on DC and have all made huge discoveries and contributions to music as a whole. And we all know that all drummers are to behave accordingly and alike as stated in the drummers code of conduct handbook. I thank them for their infinite wisdom and knowledge that could only be gained in mastering all percussion over their very very long careers.

  • this is fast and sloppy.... about it

  • no question an absolute beast i dont care if he throws his sticks down that dont mean he is arrogant

  • 1 star cause of what he did at the end

  • @ColdToiletSeats He's just having fun man. Doesn't mean he's being cocky. I see that stick throwing thing as more of a personal high five or a burst of energy. Nothing wrong with a little excitement.

  • hey if most of you were this good you might end it the same way. I don't get how you think he's an arrogant asshole because he threw his sticks. I throw my sticks all the time for no fucking reason, it's something you don't really need to bring up. just listen and enjoy, stop making assumptions.

  • lol.

  • @arobdrummer

he is, certainly, an arrogant asshole. not because he threw his sticks, listen to to how he talks about himself, arrogant as fuck. it's not like we're telling you new information, it's common knowledge he's arrogant as hell.

  • @disgustopated He's the opposite from arrogant. I had the chance to meet him and he was totally the opposite. He's a great drummer and you shouldnt post shit like this if you dont know it for a fact.

  • @arobdrummer - it's the WAY he threw it after the show ... it was like he was saying - Yeah, I'm the shit lol - it's one thing to be good - but after that display at the end - it's called BODY LANGUAGE ... he could of bowed instead, right? we already knew he is good... but he apparently, thinks he's better LOL great drummer yes, and apparently, he very much KNOWS IT as well, or atleast the BODY LANGUAGE tells us so...lol - I throw sticks too, but not like that lol

  • @robdrums69 hey man i mean no offense by saying this, first and foremost, im just giving my take. being a serious percussionist, especially one thats far too overly critical of myself, i feel like the stick throwing he did there was not out of arrogance, but out of disappointment. the look on his face and the way he dropped the sticks, to me, looked like he wasnt pleased with his playing, as all drummers are at some point in their careers.

  • @arobdrummer have u ever met him ?

Trust me, hes a great drummer, but also an arrogant prick....

  • @daonpa how?

  • absolutely gorgeous set.

  • Ronald's an A Grade KNOB!!

  • Agreed. The man reeks of arrogance

  • oh and its his signature, he does it after like every solo.

  • Lose the attitude Ron, you don't need it. It is showing your immaturity. Bring your level of wisdom up to your level of playing ability.

  • @pissjar this is the best comment here

  • jaw droppin but why he get off the drums and throw his sticks. He also need to change the haircut

  • @586roddy

    why you got to hate?

let the man be an individual....golly

  • he was just sad indeed the song ended

  • i wanna slap u badly

  • i agree with you dude,he thinks"oh im soo bad ass to do that"but he made it look like he have attitude prolems....

    awsome drumming though!!!

and im giving you a thumbs up for your comments!!!

  • yeah but who gets off there throne like that at the end? egomaniac. his drums even hide him from the camera in the end

  • Billy Cobham Jr.

  • reminds me of king crimson. nice drumming indeed

  • I always enjoy a solid roll: 0:30.....Sounds like a machine gun.....precision

  • This set is crazy nice

  • haha... great ending !!!

  • Great Drummer....But is stealing the style of Lenny White. Great player the what he is playing is nothing new.

  • Very good drummer.... You can hear in his playing and see it in his set up that he is Lenny White's biggest fan......Do you think he listened to romantic warrior much..... I wonder if he has Lenny in his circle of family and friends call anytime plan . Sounds Very good ... not knocking him just check out Romantic Warrior by Return to Forever if you want to hear where his style came from. An excellent drummer for sure.

  • Anyone know what ride he uses here?

I just can't figure it out.

  • I think its the new Z custom. I know its sum kind of Zildjian rock cymbal.

  • Z3 thrash ride i think. judging by the hammering

  • FUCKING AWESOME DRUMMING

    man you are (siC) xP

  • That snare sounds amazing. And how does he crash that heavy ride so hard!?

  • It's all in the wrists.....Watch Tony Williams and Vinnie Colaiuta they Crash on their rides a lot too.....

  • Come on champ loosin your pants up look like u wearin tights awsome chops dough

  • actually I think in this video he LOOKS like Billy Cobham and Sounds a ton like Dennis (which explains why also sounds alot like Lenny White and Billy Cobham)

  • Sure there's certainly a Billy Cobham influence going on here but if you listen carefully Ronald sounds more like Lenny White.

Check out Lenny White with Romantic Warrior and you'll hear what I mean.

    Ronald is incredible.

  • his setup, style, and look was very billy cobham esque!

  • i love that set

  • He is soooo underated

  • I don't even think I can think as fast this this dudes hands are movin'...f***!

  • Billy Cobham... -_-

  • Yeah, sounds great !

  • Agreed. Totally

  • I said this on another vid of him- I consider this guy the drummer who deserves to be handed the "Billy Cobham torch" so to speak from Dennis Chambers.

  • this guy blows my mind

  • he is sick he even writes the music

  • what do u say to something like dis?? crazy

  • This entire segment on Drum Channel is AMAZING!!! RBJ is a Monster!!

  • Man I tell you....that damn RBJr is a BEAST!!!! He has much attitude butbi have to respect it cause if I played like him I would have the same. I can safely say that he may be one of the most aggressive drummers that has ever lived. I wouldnlive to get a lesson from this guy.

  • Nice playing.....You have to like this!!

  • Bruner is like a very powerful blur! awesome

  • I dont even play bass and i want that bass he got!! lol just so i can pick it up and ACT like i can play. LOL

  • Well the bass is from Roscoe Basses.....

    I want one myself....but I don't play bass either.....lol....

  • YES SPANKY!

  • RB its verry strong and fast player-respect!!!

  • I like how it ended the video by throwing the sticks on the ground!!!

  • That is a great sounding kit!

  • Yea he is good, but still to this day, my fav drummer is Barry Alexander II hands down!

  • You are Barry Alexander II fool!!!!!

  • he's ok my favorite is spanky

  • He's okay?

I got nothin but love for Spank but Ron is like watching Billy Cobham all over again plus his vocabulary is amazing!

  • not bad.

  • is it me or is the quality of this video really freakin' good. and as usual, amazing playing

  • Ron made me laugh and cry at the same time....

  • Mann Those Zildjians sound so Nice!!!

So he's endorsed with them now??

  • Why don't you set the Drumset on fire?? What does it mean when you throw the sticks down??

  • it means you OWN the instrument, the instrument doesn't own YOU

  • That's effing A!

  • 0:43-0:49... i'd probably blow chunks if i tried to do that

  • Now that's a good 1 lol

  • This DC live was hilarious, good to see all the cats, smitty smith, will kennedy and terry

  • graet drummer but ifeel like he over did it and killed the song rather than comped it

  • Yes man dig it drum channal, That is a really nice looking drum kit

  • He normally has 2 more bass drums but his kit never stays the same.....

  • i know hes into it and that's really good but he looks like he's about to jizz man

  • :40 OMFG BLAST BEAT

  • Never liked ronald Bruner before this but he's won me over. Open handed for the win!

  • never liked him before huh?

  • VERY nice Tama.

  • i dont like how he walked away lol

  • Y did he end it like that?

  • ammm

    for fun?

    for try to be interesting?

maybe the last fill hurts XD

  • dude, i have a fraction of his chops( but trust and believe i have chops) and when you finish a monster fill you feel like dropping the sticks and walkin away. it takes a lot outta you. its kinda like running a sprint and when you get to the end sitting down to catch your breath. you gotta shake it off.

  • Blame it on his age.
