If you don't want to spend 150 pounds you can get a Susato.  it's a sort of in-between model. plug your ears, thought. susato's are very loud.

I just bought one today in D key, only £5, but it seems good enough to learn on. If I really get into it and keep with it I'd like to get one of those nice whole metal ones.

Yeah, any whistle is fine to learn on, that's the great thing about it!

Just to let you know though for when you want to upgrade, I play a tuneable Overton. Which costs nearly £150. But then I've been playing whistle for nearly 10 years!
