well they have been always nu metal, cause if u go listen to other nu metal bands u will fell familiarized with the tunes and also the rapping part. im not a nu metal big fan, but i can distinguish nu metal from trash or any other kind of metal, so if ur opinion is that they are other style i respect it but i can tell u for sure they are nu metal. :)
