What about if you're a girl interested in parkour? What kind of exercises would be most beneficial? I'm completely new to this but wanna do things properly ^^
@Louve553 ( day 1-3-5 ) push ups + pull ups + sit ups + squats + jumping as high as you can .. and advance workouts : chin up + handstand push ups + leg lifts + jumping squats .. start with 5-10 reps and 3-4 sets .. work your way up 25-50 reps and 3-4 sets .. ( day 2-4-6 ) jog 5 minutes and work your way to 30 minutes .. sprint 100 yard x 2 time .. work your way x 5-8 times .. ( day 7 ) rest .. wish you the best luck :-)
@Louve553 Well, I know a lot of traceuses, and they all seem to do the same workouts as traceurs, and I think mma4life4ever gave you the right instructions if you're only a beginner ;)
I am 15 and i am not too strong in upper body strength but interested in Parkour, can someone give me some pointers on the best way to do these workouts at my age?
@pivotmaster123654 Simple.... Work Out intelligently and Keep Up With It.... Everyone starts from somewhere.... You think that guy was Strong as he is without Working out? No
Hand technique for doing push ups like that is NOT a good thing long term. That isn't a natural hand position (on your palms) and supporting all that body wait over and over again like that could give you problems in your joints. It is much better to make a fist and keep your wrists straight. Correct me if I'm wrong but...
@765highvelocity sounds like u need to improve ur local musclar endurance... which is the ability to performa exercises involving certain muscle groups without fatigue
I don't have most of the tools to do these work outs , I can run mile after mile but can't do more than 20 push ups without getting winded this is goon n all but I need simpler maybe less repetitive movement workouts
Hey man, Liked your vid on Upper Body Conditioning for Parkour, Ive just started my account and uploaded a first vid on the same thing but with some of my own variations. I just need someone to kick me in the right direction, so would appreciate it if you'd check it out give me any tips etc. Hope you like it, and keep up the awesome work. THANKS.
@jlim64 of course im 15 and i started with teh spartan workout when i was 14 skipping some exercisse i couldnìt do at home an im pretty ok now :) even tho spartan almost goes only for upper body
"what does this work on?" This works chest, shoulders, tricepts, bicepts lats, traps, all secondary and minor stabiliser muscle groups associated with the afore mentioned major groups. The work on the rock wall is the major forearm/grip work out. The clean-jerk-press is for overall power and strength. If your not comfortable doing this outside then any gymnastic club will do 90% of these exersises as standard conditioning. Key component not listed flexibility training!!
To be honest, your triceps-pushups are a little bit sloppy - your chin should touch the ground before you push yourself up, or your nose. Whatever you like. I usually just touch the ground very gently with my chin and nose right before I push myself up, and I do them slower than you too.
I used to do them like this but I noticed I got much more out of doing it the way I'm doing them now.
Hey man, nice video, i have a few questions though, first: what difference does it makes to do the pull ups/chin ups with separated hands and do it with your hands close to each other? second: do you have to do the quadra-peding at that rythim or you can do it however you like?
@richs95 Takes a while to be able to get them straight, just condition more till you can build up to train them. They're not something most people can do straight away.
something, in colombia the pull ps infront of the bar are called "Cristos"which traduces Christs, and also there is annother kind of dips, called the "robocops" in which you put your forearm in the paralells (the parallel bars are called paralells, if wrong I'm not) so you have to take them off the parallels by simultaniously lifting your elbows then you do a dip, and when you go down when your elbows are pointing up again, push your forearm to rely at the parallel bars, so they would be on top.
@rexhunter1 no i havent. and where i live there is not to many places to do parkour. i actually make my own obstacles to do most of this stuff on. and u really dont understand the philosophy of parkour if your talking to another practicioner like this.
guys help me i want to start parkour.. i will practice by doing this but i want to ask if i need to practice this everyday or it can be like 3times a week?
@eldaislost you dont want to do it EVERY day, as you need to give your body time to recover and relax, other wise you'll just burn out all your energy and not put on any muscle, id say if you're medium fitness( ie your used to exercise) then give your self two days a week break, ohh and also start eating lots of protein such as fish to help build up the muscles though obviously cut down on junk food and food with high fat as this will just weigh you down ;) hope this helped
@eldaislost generally bout 50-min to and hour with bout 5 min stretching and cooling down, thats probably the most important bit, you really dont want to injure yourself just when you want to start, so yeah, after the first couple a weeks doing steady 1 hour blocks, try varying it a bit, like occasionally throw in a really intense 45 min session or a slow 1 hour 30. Just some ideas, good luck hope it goes well ;)
@eldaislost what type of body have you got btw? you like really thin or quite short? or what? just there's slight differences to how you can train ^^ dont have to answer if you dont want to....
@eldaislost hmmm well it sounds like you'll have a good body for parkour, you'll be quite lean and most of it will be muscle so you'll have a good power/weight ratio if you keep it up, so..... yeah you're a bit like me body wise so do an hour or so training but remember to eat a lot other wise you'll just burn up all your energy and you wont build up muscle. With the exercises like chin up and what not, start by doing 10 at a time and then a short break, then another 10 ;)
@SuperWhitty1 chin up= palms facing toward you when you grab something, arms close together. Pull up= palms facing away. arms spread out. and with a pull up if you want u can put ur head in front of the bar. and they work different muscles
Why can't I do pullups? I'm 13 and I think my shoulder blades are messed up when I do pullups the he does in this vid it feels like my shoulder blades are pulling out of the socket, it hurt. Why? Any other way to train my back without pull ups?
thanks man. your videos are gonna help A LOT! me and some of my frnds around town have started gettin into parkour and ive been tryin to get in better shape for it
Hi, quality vid btw. I was wondering whereabouts in Glasgow are the dip bars you use in the vid? I've been trying to find somewhere with them for ages. I searched previous comments but all I got was about 20 million people telling you some exercise was bad for you're neck, lol@the interent. On a random note I think i worked with you for a month a few yrs back at St Vincent St. It's the earrings that gave you away :) Cheers.
I understand that conditioning is to prepare your joints and muscles for all the demands of Parkour but I've seen some skinny traceurs, so I'm kinda confused, do you have to be SUPER STRONG or just plain fit?
@MrDBounce The conditioning will make you very strong which one of the pillars of Parkour training, but the other main reason is to protect your body from the demands you put on it. Conditioning will make you more strong and resilient, which will decrease your chances of picking up Injuries.
@MrDBounce I'm a tracuer myself and The key in parkour is to be strong yet flexible. Like spider silk steel. Conditioning will make you stronger, but you need to combine it with stretches so you maintain your flexibility.
@MrDBounce Also, you can be strong without having big muscles. I am small for my age and it doesn't look like I am strong at all, yet I have more upper body strength than people older and much bigger than me.
@MrDBounce You just have to be fit. Traceurs use momentum after all to help them get by obstacles. In fact, being to muscular is bad because it makes you heavier.
@MrDBounce Just because people are skinny doesn't mean they arnt strong lol. I mean I look I am 120 pounds but I am actually 160 due to muscle mass, no one expects it or believes it lol. This is a great guide, I just need to know good push-ups for lower pecs lol.
@MrDBounce there are a few types of muscle, high intensity, low intensity, high is for burst power, low for endurance many parkourists work these in harmony. if you work one too much you lose a bit of the other.
Leaner (ripped) muscle is usuallystronger & tighter muscle fibres thus smaller, larger muscles require more oxygen, blood and more energy and resulting in poorer results. skinny guys that train have denser muscle mass, therefore on weight to power ratio, are actually stronger.
Hello.Nice video!I'm 14 this year and am just starting parkour. What exercises shown in the video should I start with and do you know how many reps should I do?Thanks!
loved the video but saw your climb up btw :P try to give more swing with your leg so you get more speed, cause then i think you have the uber straight climb (: +10 for movie
U r AMAZING!!, seriously, incredible strength :D, any tips for someone like me? --- , good upper body strength but carries bit of fat around the bottom half of stomach xD any excercises to help reduce that?, ;), thx in advance :D
i was wondering should i train by doing to my limit or should i do with rests and should i train every part of my body or a little at a time? i've just started parkour and i'm interested in improving my body condition and stamina. thanks for the video and the other videos too.
i was wondering should i train by doing to my limit or should i do with rests and should i train every part of my body or a little at a time? i've just started parkour and i'm interested in improving my body condition and stamina. thanks for the video and the other videos too.
Thanks for this vid it is really helping me and my friends who do parkour this video got to the point and showed many techniques whereas in other videos they just stand there showing of there pecs thanks I'm subscribing
Hey up, this is amazing lol i can hardly do push ups :p but can do chin ups really well, i was wondering because im 14 just do like half the amount u do at the moment to increase muscle steadily? thanks in advance
Chin ups work your bicepts and push generally work the tricept, pecs and deltoids. so work on progressional overload on push ups, pull ups or on any other muscles you want to strengthen.
Start off with a small goal like 3 a day, then next week try and achieve 5 and up the reps through time or increase your weight thru heavy backpack or weighted vest
i did most of this yesterday but im wondering do you train chest all at the same time? then go to triceps soulders and then train them all at the same time.then go to arms back.then finish?
if you do this how many set do you do for each part of the upper body?
or do you do chest then trieps and shoulder then arms back then repeat until a hour gone by like circut training
this is exactly the kind of conditioning we use at gymnastics! these certainly helped me very much with my fitness and body tone. I need an excercise wheel and my chinups need work, but definitely the hardest thing is the muscle up. creds to you for managing it!
Thank you so much dude, Iv'e taken in every excersize you have shown on your upper and lower body conditioning for parkour, i have to say it worked for me, I can now do a few flips inclueding a palm flip, iv'e becone more energetic and can run longer then i even drempt i could run, after 10 weeks i really felt the difference, this has helped my Parkour and Taekwondo considerably, thank you i'll continue these excersizes, and i will definetly recomment these escersizes to others, thanks friend.
Yes Protein is important for repair/building block to maintain a healthy body. I usually eat a lot of carbs to replensish my energy levels, so I am not so drained the next day. it is up to you where you get your protein from (food or powder). The is plenty of info on the net.
It is important to get your protein between 0-30 mins after your intense workout, and not to ingest to much protein as it can lead to kidney problems. Again do you research and google it.
This will GREATLY help me out a lot. Alot of this I already do out of curiosity and experimentation, and a lot of it is extremely hard to do, but with practice it will become another par tof my routine.
Its more of a body mechanic type of sport really, what is the point of working on a machine that does not mimic that of real life? The walls, stones, trees, and other objects we use is what we have to use in Parkour if we have to really do a run for some reason. It is better to train for reality by using reality.
I am not Zeno but I have been practicing for four years now and the machines are no where near the same as the walls.
good point, I also hate working out indoors, it is very limiting. I think nothing compares to body-weight training done outside, it gets a bit harder to maintain in the winter though...but still not impossible
so did you get that muscle from almost primarily body lifting? all of your tutorials are body lifting, first time i had seen weight is in this video.I've lost a little muscle and weight since a couple years ago when i stopped working out regularly and it was all from body lifting, it didn't take long to get where i was, just seemed a lot more work than it shouldve been to get to where i was. :\ so i was just curious
For amazing calisthenics moves check out BarStarzz. BarStarzz is a workout team that's works solely through calisthenics. We separate ourselves from others with exceptional strength and creativity. We developed a workout regimen that's great for losing weight, bulking up, definition, and strength.
work out 5/7 days of the week and try to do cardio every day for atleast 30 minutes unless you wanna lose weight then for 45minutes. also stretch everyday the more the better but for atleast 15 minutes before excersise and 15 minutes after exept on cardio.
nice job

I understand that conditioning is to prepare your joints and muscles for all the demands of Parkour but I've seen some skinny traceurs, so I'm kinda confused, do you have to be SUPER STRONG or just plain fit?
MrDBounce 1 year ago
@MrDBounce The conditioning will make you very strong which one of the pillars of Parkour training, but the other main reason is to protect your body from the demands you put on it. Conditioning will make you more strong and resilient, which will decrease your chances of picking up Injuries.

@TraceurZeno : Can these conditioning exercises useful for tricking ?? / will these help only parkour or help tricking??
ukku999 1 year ago
@ukku999 Yes they would help with tricking. They help anything you use your upperbody strength for. Even knitting to an extent!
jakeywakey27 1 year ago
@MrDBounce I'm a tracuer myself and The key in parkour is to be strong yet flexible. Like spider silk steel. Conditioning will make you stronger, but you need to combine it with stretches so you maintain your flexibility.
ParkourFlame22 1 year ago
@MrDBounce along side what he said you dont have to be buff to do parkour. you can look like the skinniest guy and bench press 300lbs
originalkillerpuppy 1 year ago
@MrDBounce Also, you can be strong without having big muscles. I am small for my age and it doesn't look like I am strong at all, yet I have more upper body strength than people older and much bigger than me.
dragonmaster888888 1 year ago
@MrDBounce You just have to be fit. Traceurs use momentum after all to help them get by obstacles. In fact, being to muscular is bad because it makes you heavier.
newsleet 1 year ago
@MrDBounce Just because people are skinny doesn't mean they arnt strong lol. I mean I look I am 120 pounds but I am actually 160 due to muscle mass, no one expects it or believes it lol. This is a great guide, I just need to know good push-ups for lower pecs lol.
ZezainKingPker 10 months ago
@MrDBounce there are a few types of muscle, high intensity, low intensity, high is for burst power, low for endurance many parkourists work these in harmony. if you work one too much you lose a bit of the other.
Leaner (ripped) muscle is usuallystronger & tighter muscle fibres thus smaller, larger muscles require more oxygen, blood and more energy and resulting in poorer results. skinny guys that train have denser muscle mass, therefore on weight to power ratio, are actually stronger.

Hey up, this is amazing lol i can hardly do push ups :p but can do chin ups really well, i was wondering because im 14 just do like half the amount u do at the moment to increase muscle steadily? thanks in advance
RazorIcon2 2 years ago
Chin ups work your bicepts and push generally work the tricept, pecs and deltoids. so work on progressional overload on push ups, pull ups or on any other muscles you want to strengthen.
Start off with a small goal like 3 a day, then next week try and achieve 5 and up the reps through time or increase your weight thru heavy backpack or weighted vest
TraceurZeno 2 years ago
bloody hell your strong, how long have you been doing this for?

Motoruven 2 years ago 6
yes, you are right.
TraceurZeno 2 years ago
i did most of this yesterday but im wondering do you train chest all at the same time? then go to triceps soulders and then train them all at the same time.then go to arms back.then finish?
if you do this how many set do you do for each part of the upper body?
or do you do chest then trieps and shoulder then arms back then repeat until a hour gone by like circut training
looselibra333 2 years ago
this is exactly the kind of conditioning we use at gymnastics! these certainly helped me very much with my fitness and body tone. I need an excercise wheel and my chinups need work, but definitely the hardest thing is the muscle up. creds to you for managing it!
parkourdude100 2 years ago 3
Thank you so much dude, Iv'e taken in every excersize you have shown on your upper and lower body conditioning for parkour, i have to say it worked for me, I can now do a few flips inclueding a palm flip, iv'e becone more energetic and can run longer then i even drempt i could run, after 10 weeks i really felt the difference, this has helped my Parkour and Taekwondo considerably, thank you i'll continue these excersizes, and i will definetly recomment these escersizes to others, thanks friend.

woah intense very nice. is there any special foods or anything sonmeone should eat after an intense work out? just high protein or?
JJvideoman 2 years ago
Yes Protein is important for repair/building block to maintain a healthy body. I usually eat a lot of carbs to replensish my energy levels, so I am not so drained the next day. it is up to you where you get your protein from (food or powder). The is plenty of info on the net.
It is important to get your protein between 0-30 mins after your intense workout, and not to ingest to much protein as it can lead to kidney problems. Again do you research and google it.
Hope that helps you my friend

why the hell dont you just do it all in a weight room.....where they have weights so you dont have to do pull ups in a damn tree and lift stones?!?!
bballrules41 2 years ago
Its more of a body mechanic type of sport really, what is the point of working on a machine that does not mimic that of real life? The walls, stones, trees, and other objects we use is what we have to use in Parkour if we have to really do a run for some reason. It is better to train for reality by using reality.
I am not Zeno but I have been practicing for four years now and the machines are no where near the same as the walls.

weight rooms are limiting, sterile, and boring spaces. I want to be able to interact with my environment ... not be closed off from it.
Chr1sDeb0 2 years ago 5
good point, I also hate working out indoors, it is very limiting. I think nothing compares to body-weight training done outside, it gets a bit harder to maintain in the winter though...but still not impossible
mikek241 2 years ago 2
so did you get that muscle from almost primarily body lifting? all of your tutorials are body lifting, first time i had seen weight is in this video.I've lost a little muscle and weight since a couple years ago when i stopped working out regularly and it was all from body lifting, it didn't take long to get where i was, just seemed a lot more work than it shouldve been to get to where i was. :\ so i was just curious
sylentmyst 2 years ago
how many times a week should i do this
theofficialmcalliste 2 years ago
i usually do 1 day upperbody
1 day lower body
then a rest day, this gives the muscles time to regenerate and can actually improve the rate that muscle mass builds

setahn 2 years ago
work out 5/7 days of the week and try to do cardio every day for atleast 30 minutes unless you wanna lose weight then for 45minutes. also stretch everyday the more the better but for atleast 15 minutes before excersise and 15 minutes after exept on cardio.
