  • real good video and it helped alot , you should do more on the new htc phones too ...thanx

  • Amazing review watched all 5 of them!. Thanks

  • thx for the help man, great videos, reguard to the UK from the US.

  • A pleasure. Hi to US too from wet and windy UK.

  • Thanks

  • Hi there! I'd like to congratulate you for the 5 video series about TyTN II! It helped me a lot in clearing my mind about this PDA. I decided in buying it but it's on shipping to my house. Im from Brazil (sorry about the grammar mistakes) and Tom Tom Software doesnt work here, so Im intending to use Google Maps instead. Thank you very much for spending your time in guiding other people, like myself, through so many doubts. Honestly, its a very expensive gadget! See ya!!

  • Great review very informative..

    Thanks for taking the time...

  • That was great, thanks for that.

    Jon

  • There is a software that you use to help the gps reciever to lock satelites faster...did you use it on this video ?

  • Really enjoyed the video's. I have one question, how is the battery life on this unit and did you get an extra battery? aftermarket etc.

    Thanks in advance.

    seer

  • Battery is pretty good, although I am a heavy user so charge the machine daily, and whilst at my PC at work. Keep wifi, bluetooth and gps switched off when not needed and the battery will last a good while. I have not got an extra battery as if I do not charge at home I ccharge it in the car or even with a portable battery charger running on 4 AA cells if desperate.

  • hi, just wanted to ask you whether you would recommend that I get one TYTN II or imate ultimate 9502 as I am in a fix over these two and I cant say which one is better than the other. Thanks

  • Never tried an imate but read some reviews. Nice phone with vga screen but i do not think it tilts. Imate has a flash for the camera as well. Read a few reviews sayng wifi is not good on the imate but overall ok. Processor speed and memory are the same as is gps receiver. On balance i think the tytn II wins if a vga screen is not importnt. Prices seem comparable too.

  • thank you for the reply, now my life is much easier.

  • thanks a lot for the excellent set of video reviews! theyve been really useful in helping me decide which device i buy, obv the tytn ii .! cheers and keep up the good work..

  • Thank you. Glad it was useful. Enoy your Tytn II. I've been using mine for months now and love it!

  • does gps cost?

  • No. You receive satellite signals for free directly into the phone. But you will need to buy GPS software e.g. TomTom. The Tytn comes with a free city map for Tom Tom so you can see how it works.

  • Nice video, good to get a Brit doing one at a reasonable pace and properly, not cramming it all in to 10 min. Great detail on build quality etc. and useful comment about Activesync 4.5 as I have XP and 4.2 for my neo at the moment, which will have to change :-(. On the GPS: my bluetooth Sirf III can sit on the windowledge and get no signal at all, maybe its just cheap rubbish. Anyway, my Tytn II Orange will be here soon (hopefully) and will be promptly unlocked (hopefully). Thanks, keep it up !

  • Thanks for the comments. trying to keep Union Jack flying here!! You might have got your Tytn by now. Hope you like it. I'm hooked on mine despite the video performance issues.

  • Got my TyTn now. Unlocked it and flashed HTC WM6.1 on to it. I really like it, despite sometimes slow graphics. Using gps all the time on my cycle runs, logging the route. It takes more than a minute for a fix which I find "dissapointing", still acceptable though. Just found out today that recording phone calls is not possible which it was on the neo. I removed my video response from your Kaiser-case-vid only because it wasn't searchable in that state, no matter what I did. TYTN II rules!

  • Got convinced thanks to your review. Been a big help for me. Thx :)

  • ive got a tytn and uve sumed up wat it does very well good job i was wondering is it possible to get messeger live for the tytn

  • My TyTN has Windows Live installed as standard, which is the same thing, so yes must be the answer.

  • Thanks for the fantastic effort you've put in reviewing the TytnII. I've been tossing up between the TytnII and the P6300i. After watching your vids I'm off to buy a Tytn tomorrow! Thanks for solving my dilemma.

    Keep up the great work.

  • Glad to be of help. Enjoy your Tytn.

  • I had seen loads of mad users on XDA Developers complaining about video playback and the touch screen bug, but from your videos, it doesn't seem too bad.

Whats the speaker like? Coming from a Vario 1 with stereo (if rubbish) speakers I have seen comments that this one isn't too good either.

    THanks for the great reviews!

  • I think the video playback is fine provided you do a decent conversion and use a file suited to a 320x240 screen. The lack of video drivers to properly use the video hardware is a genuine issue, slowing screen refresh even during normal useage. This said, it is not enough to stop me feeling this is a great device. Thanks for your comments.

  • Thanks for the reviews - and nice to be a fellow brit!

I'm considering a Vario 3 variant as an upgrade from t-mobile. Keeps the cost down a little although I prefer the look of the HTC!

  • Too few UK reviews I think, so perhaps this provides a little balance!! I think you would enjoy using this device. The build quality is high, GPS acceptable, and the video comfortable, but see my other reply. For the price, HTC should have provided proper video drivers.

    Cheers.

  • I brought my today! Can´t wait to test it.

About the QVGA screen, if it had an VGA screen the battery would last less and im pretty sure the autonomy isn´t the best among smartphone. But with all the features this phone has, im pretty sure I can recharge it everyday!

  • That's not correct..

I use Eten x500 plus, which has vga screen.

However, the battery life is pretty long.

BUT... there are not so many applications or skins for vga screen. SO ANNOYING..

  • Thats not correct (2)

The E-Ten x500+ have a better battery of 1530 mAh against the Kaiser 1350 mAh.

It doesn´t have an keyboard, 3G, USB 2.0 (only 1.1) a camera of 2mp without auto-focus. This is plenty of room in the fone for a better battery.

  • Thank you very much for producing these reviews, one of the best I've seen, been looking at this phone and its so great to get a users eye view of it. thank you.

  • Very very good review. Just want to know if it can view youtube videos in the browser. I have an HTC s620 and it cannot view youtube videos. Can this device view youtube videos and how is the video quality.

  • Can you use the microsd to install programs by that I mean store the programs on the card and utilise the sd as memory at all?

  • Yes, I install all my programmes on the card and all my files. The SD slot is HD compatible and will take 8 gig cards.

  • May I ask how much you paid and did you get any warranty?

  • You can get them for about £420 sim free in the UK with 1 year warranty.

  • Thats so much cheaper than here in canada even after converting the rates. :(

Did you buy it at a shop or online?

  • Hats off. unbiosed review. I want to get this for Chirstmas (My very first pocket PC). I have the option of chosing between N95 8GB & Kaiser. In Singapore this will cost 888 sing$ & N95 8GB is 200$ lesser with 2 year contract. What would you recommend in terms of functionality (pls don't say kaiser is running WM6 and N95 8GB is running Symbian). I want the best to chose. However I've never had a PPC and I really want one (I dropped the plan of buying Atom life after seeing the reviews).

  • Even with Kaiser the reviews say that HTC has not provided the 2D/3D graphics accelerator drivers, even though the QualComm processor has the integrated support for graphics with the processor. I hope that HTC will release a driver in the future for this issue. Does this really affect the video performance; I went through all the videos from 1 - 5. it would be better if you can do a review on the video side of Kaiser.

    Cheers......... great job

  • I'll try and do a vid on watching video on the Kaiser but I can tell you now that it is great, especially using TCPMP. The screen is bright and the video smooth. N95 is a lovely machine, but I prefer WM as more flexible and intuitive but not as pretty as Symbian. I do beleive that WM is the superior OS.

  • WM6 is well supported and lots of software out there. Great for business and games. Video applications also well supported. The N95 is slimmer, lighter and sleeker than the HTC and equally well built. It is a tough call but think hard about what you want from a PDA.

  • Fianlly, thanks for your comments. I hope that the vids are useful. Whatever you decide, you are going to end up with a great PDA.

  • Thanks for the comments......... as you told WM6 has lot of software that will allow us to play around. I had had a long wait for a pocket PC and today I've made up my mind which will put the long wait to an end. I'm going to have a Kaiser for Christmas. Ho ho ho.....

    Merry Christmas to you........

  • Good choice! I think you will be very pleased with it. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  • One more point to consider. The Kaiser comes with no memory card. An 8gig card will cost around £50, so worth noting that as far as price goes.

  • Thanks for pointing out. Well..... the storage is a downside with kaiser (it's going to cost extra bucks). However 1GB micro SD is given free of charge with Kaiser, in Singapore (well that won't be enough in the long run). I haven't come across a 8GB version of the micro SD in singapore (kingston doesn't have. may be sandisk may have). 4GB will cost 62 Sing $.

Anyway I'm going for the Kaiser. May be after couple of months I'll get the 8GB micro SD.
