Someone's probably already mentioned this but if someone else has the energy sword, and you have a medium range weapon like a DMR, and they are coming at you but not within distance to rush you, you can kill that person.
I apologize for my earlier rudeness in my comment... If I played a COD game and made a controversial statement like that, I wouldn't want everyone getting in my face about it and being a jerk to me... Especially since I haven't played Modern Warefare 3 or other COD games much at all... Sorry...
If anyone is the guy that's the king, which in any situation a certain weapon will always overpower another weapon (no one is EVER king), then it is that guy over there with the rocket launcher on bottomless clip (like a n00b) with the armor lock glitch.
gravity hammer has more area to hit and can hit multiple enemies while energy sword has more chance to kill instantly and u can lunge with it. besides, electricity is better than metal. :D
energy sword does not make you king, it make you a bad ass, even more so when you have sprint and evade, scary when you have invisibility every thing else will take away the joy of using it, there is alot of ways to kill someone with the energy sword ,but the best way is to get them in a open field then the energy sword will not be all that effective and it was always over power from the beginnig

There is something the guy could have done, block. If you melee just as the energy sword carrier hits you, you will block his attack and can kill him.

Commando is the new energy sword instead of the energy sword being the new commando :) And when your opponents have a little bit experience on halo reach they could've killed you. This game actually made me realise something. In Halo CE the sword was such a big, glowing lump of sugar. I thought the idea was that it functioned as a cutting torched and charged the target with such a big, sudden surge of energy that he'd die. Which also explained how the battery got drained by attacking, not by having it turned on. But does it now turn out that it's meant to be unlimitedly sharp and made for stabbing?
It is the new commando in some sense. It can be fended of, but it's also a 1-hit kill with some damn overpowered target tracking. But that's the idea of this sword. The difference is that not anyone can just 'equip' the sword, it's always a super weapon in the possession of a single player. And besides, you should have seen it in Halo 2! Remember Lockout? More closely quartered, the sword had an unlimited battery (I think) and you could chop 3x faster than this sword's quick attack can.

I use shotguns against energy swords and win more than half of the time. When they go to hit you they go rly fast and you shoot the shotgun right before they hit you and they die it's not that hard.

Commando is the new energy sword instead of the energy sword being the new commando :) And when your opponents have a little bit experience on halo reach they could've killed you. The energy sword is not like a 'god' weapon of some sort, in some situations it's very good. But I mostly think the energy sword is rather fun instead of very usefull.

Holy shit guys. Stop fuckin arguing about which game is better. THEY'RE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAMES. Two completely different companies, two completely different playstyles, two completely different settings. Do you really expect a game like Call of Duty, set in a relatively modern timeframe to ANYTHING like Halo, a game set a couple hundred years in the future? OF COURSE NOT.

Halo is not supposed to be, The game Takes place in a fictional universe in the 2500's. Second of all, COD could not be less realistic, IRL (In-Real-Life) you would get shot 1 time fall down and die, sounds fun right? COD4 is still one of my fav games of all time, right up there with the Halo Series and Starcraft

@AgentOrange502 I'm sorry, I wasn't aware you had shields, a set amount of health, armor abilities, limits on weapons, or powerups in Call of Duty. Nor was I aware that Halo had rewards for killstreaks (other than medals that essentially say "good job"), a map-wide radar that told you every time someone shot and where they are at the time of shooting, weapon attachments, so on and so forth. Oh wait. They don't. But those aren't things that completely change gameplay mechanics or anything right?

is the NEW commando? lol this was commando before commando was commando. was a problem in Halo 2 and 3 too. but it's still sorta balanced in the sense that it runs out, doesnt respawn for a while, and there's only 1 allowed (for the most part) at any given point during a game. that is, unless you're playing a game type with the sword in a loadout...

Bungie please patch this onlyusemeblade is right this the new commando.As&holes only use sprint to commando with the sword or hammer,so bungie should make where if you pick up the hammer or sword you can't run.You can block the sword,but what's the point if my sheilds drop theirs don't and their reaction time isn't slowed.Don't let reach turn into MW2 where noobs can win only by melee,please someone bungie patch this to make the game balanced again and take skill to play

This game actually made me realise something. In Halo CE the sword was such a big, glowing lump of sugar. I thought the idea was that it functioned as a cutting torched and charged the target with such a big, sudden surge of energy that he'd die. Which also explained how the battery got drained by attacking, not by having it turned on. But does it now turn out that it's meant to be unlimitedly sharp and made for stabbing?

It is the new commando in some sense. It can be fended of, but it's also a 1-hit kill with some damn overpowered target tracking. But that's the idea of this sword. The difference is that not anyone can just 'equip' the sword, it's always a super weapon in the possession of a single player. And besides, you should have seen it in Halo 2! Remember Lockout? More closely quartered, the sword had an unlimited battery (I think) and you could chop 3x faster than this sword's quick attack can.

I use shotguns against energy swords and win more than half of the time. When they go to hit you they go rly fast and you shoot the shotgun right before they hit you and they die it's not that hard.
