@jonathanokoro35 No he didn't die, everyone decided to live their present and hope for a better future...they will abandon their previous life memories and accept to be earthean. for example , Enjo will ignore that he was a female.........In case of Rin, as he wrote in his diary.........that he hope for Alice to go togather to the beach and enjoy and as soon as they go back home everyone will have his own life......they will break up in order to live this life.......life moves on and so they do.

If you'd like to buy thi anime, they sale it on FYE online in the used dvd section. It's very cheap too!! I thought it was sad and cute. They didn't want it too end too sappy but they wanted shion to realize the meaning why she told him not to kill his self, because fact being she saved him in the future. It is an older anime, but I like old and newanime, I don't care. I grew up with older anime. It was good.

*Spoiler Alert*

The OVA doesn't cover half the manga (which is 21 volumes long) - it covers the entire pastlife through Mokuren's eyes, and eventually the present is given a true ending. Everyone makes peace, and among other things, Issei and Sakura get married (Issei becomes a decorator, LOL), Alice and Rin get together, and as I recall everyone else just has their mini one-panel success stories. The ending and pastlife is brilliantly done, so I highly recommend reading the manga if you can.

The OVA series was canceled so they tried to include as much as they could at the very end.

They made a movie of the series to try to end it later. I had most of the OVA footage, but they cut out some to add new footage. I know they animated what happens at the end of the manga. They must have also had mokuren's history added too. The movie was never licensed in Canada & U.S.A. don't even know if it was even ever fansubbed.

Yes that is true, there were some answered questions, but yes, they did figure out all the plots Rin did in the manga such as his persona change.

I only planned on watching a couple of parts, but instead I watched the whole thing all New Year's Eve and finished early this New Year. It was probably best I did since Viz is no longer printing the DVD.

This OVA was great, I can't believe I didn't take an interest in it before. I was mostly hooked on the thickening plot with Rin/Shion's plan to gather the seven passwords. I also enjoyed the premise of the seven alien lifeforms reincarnating as earth humans.

There were some drawbacks; I originally thought the whole story was going to be about Alice, but then shifted to Rin. Unfortunately I didn't like Rin that much. Also, some characters got shafted in terms of screentime and development, particularly Sakura and Daisuke.  I also would've like to seen more backstory on the aliens, not just Shion and Mokuren.

Being dubbed in the 90s, I didn't expect high quality voice acting. But some VAs really stood out. I was impressed by Lalainia Lindbjerg's work as Alice, and Chris Turner (Rin) was great too. Richard Newman was great as he usually is, I would've like to have heard more of Paul Dobson and Ted Cole. Tony Sampson's voicework was so-so (thankfully he got better in later years).

The manga is twelve volumes long, so there's more character development if you read it. I think I would have missed or thought a lot of things were random in this if I hadn't already read the series. Several of the significant plot points were only mentioned briefly or shown as an image flashing by. :)

Also it continues on to an actual ending after where the OVA videos stop.

So I would suggest downloading and reading the manga if you like the general storyline for this.

I agree that everyone should read it, just because you lose a lot of the story if you only watch the OVA's.

That was pretty interesting, but kind of disappointing...It seemed like they threw away the chance to develop a lot of interesting characters and instead focused on that stupid kid. I could have stopped watching an hour ago and been happy.

The anime is unfinished. The original manga has up to 21 vols, you will have to read the manga to find out more about this kid. There's a VERY valid reason as to why this kid behave like this. And in the manga, other characters do get developed, so don't you worried. =)
