  • It does get easier! My daughter had silicon lenses initially which were never removed, and when we DID have to take them out it was a nightmare. When we finally switched to hard lenses, I was terrified about having to put in and take out lenses every day, but after a couple of weeks of doing it everyday my husband and I were both pros at it. Even my mom can do it now and my daughter doesn't fight hardly at all anymore. Props to suebhoney for having to do this everyday for TWO kids!

  • STOP U HATERS!!!! It was a really good video.

  • READ THE DISCRIPTION DUM ASSES!!!!

  • r u fuckin' spasticated u fucked in da head retarded DOG!!!!! do u even care about ur flipin' child i bet u put them lenses in just too see how it looks and i bet that baby died!!!!!!!!! and dats why u are suuch a idiot (fuckin have chaved cunt)!!!!!!

  • And for those people who have made discriminative comments about children with contact lenses .. my son would not be able to see without them. Can you imagine a three month old keep a pair of glasses on?? It is imperative that they get as much stimulation of sight as they possibly can to give them the best chance of vision in the future. To be able to do the things we take for granted like drive and read and write. Contact lenses give them this chance..

  • I have a little boy who was born with congenitial cataracts. To all those people who are starting out on the journey of having to insert the lenses into their childs eyes, I can re-iterate the above.. it does get easier. There were times when I honastly thought it never would and would dread the change over day. Now my one and a half year old brave soldier lies down so calmly .. so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

  • 73 people don't care about the baby's vision

  • For all those who are struggling, it does get easier just hang in there. Be creative in the way you do it. Be patient and believe that you can do it. My 5 year old has the implants and my 3 year old will get the implant when he is 5. The eye does significantly grow until the age of 5. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. Also, the ignorant mean people, ignore them like I do because they are just clueless if they have anything negative to say.

  • Havent been to your page in a while... I see people are still the same!!!!! How are your boys doing?

  • I was wondering if they were going to get a permanent lens put in, and if so, how old? My doctor said he would do the surgery when my daughter turns 5. And you were right... It got easier day by day. Olivia just turned 2 last week, and to put her lens in and out is just part of our day. Takes but a second in and a second out...Now did you lose any of them? we lost about 3 of them in about a year... LOL..... Thanks again for your support and your video!

  • They say your eyes are the same size from brith. Wonder if this mean I would have used the same size contacts as a 6 month year old.

  • just found out that my son is born with cataracts and will require surgery and then contacts.. thank u for the tips on how to put them from a fellow mom..

  • Great mother!!

  • well said and thank you for the supportive comments. For those that are negative, please take the time to educate yourself..

  • Continued from "under general" - anaesthetic at 6 weeks, the Contact Lens has helped his affected eye focus & operate in conjunction with his other perfect sighted eye. At 8 months, this little boy can focus & crawl to his toys, just like his brother. Waiting for an age when he could wear glasses would have set back this progress years. Wake up to yourself you nay sayers, and tell me.... do you REALLY want to inhibit a childs development by taking the path your STUPID COMMENTS suggest we take?

  • This mother is amazing!!! Clearly you people DO NOT have your own Children!!! If you did and this were the case with you, knowing that this will help your Childs vision and give a better quality of life!! Would you then being so critical. I suggest that you ALL do your homework before for making such pathetic comments on things you CLEARLY DO NOT have any education on!!!

  • I really admire you, you're and amazing mother!

  • that seems dangerous.. Lol

  • "cataracts have no scientifically proven prevention"

Uhm? Why are you doing this again?

  • amazing how people do not read the description first and comments like retards.

  • Don't put those contacts in there eyes there just babies and they can just wear glasses

  • @XMORNINGX1 read the description, it's for cataracts not normal nearsightedness or farsightedness, they'd be blind if they dont wear them

  • y will a toddler use contacts!! its a baby all that mostly do is sleep!!!

  • @TheSoccerGaby a newborn mostly sleeps. but big babies and toddlers DO NOT. They love to play most of the time. They'd be blind if not for the contacts. Sometimes reading descriptions would make you look less stupid.

  • @sugarmom0710 i was giving my opinion out ok.. so next time you see a comment that you dissagree with just keep your shit to you r self!

  • Why does ur baby and ur toddler have to wear contacts at a young age?

  • the baby has georgous eyes

  • champion mommy!!!

  • Poor baby :( what if the baby falls asleep?!

  • Comment removed

  • why wuld u put contacts on a baby????

  • @mrfluffyunicorn3 Read description.

  • Thank you very much for making this video. My partner and I adopted a toddler that after multiple eye surgeries requires the use of contacts to see. We have been going to our very patient doctors office daily to have the lenses put in. However, having used your method under the supervision of our doctor, we are both now confident to insert the lens on our own. Additionally, our sweet girl is much more at ease now that we too are. We commend you for a job well done!

  • Thank you for posting thus vid even tho you got a lot if negative comments I was some one who did not know why a baby would even need contacts and now I see your struggle thanks

  • gee just wear glasses =(

  • @DarkAshes27 The glasses they need would be too thick. Plus having glasses on an infant or toddler? Throwing them around or breaking them? Why do that when you can just put a contact in and have them to be able to SEE all day.

  • @SecureLove i guess but they are toddlers its not like they read or anything yet. eye vision can only get better by not wearing contacts or glasses. What if his vision gets at least a bit better?

  • @DarkAshes27 contacts and glasses can correct vision. second its her choice if she wants her baby to see its the toddler is stil in its learning stage i wouldnt want my child thinking the world was just made of blurs and random colors

  • @mamal12395 yeah true ^_^ thanks

  • T'F wrong w. yu laidie du yu atlest now somthn bout baby's well i dnt think so cuz i bet yu hvnt been on sckool did yu now that babys cnt were that they close their eye tight and it goes IN the eye an aye doc. cnt du nuthn tew tha bby cuz hes lil USE YUR DAMN HEAD

  • I feel bad for tht kid..

  • poor baby... i hope theres medical technologies that could help them..

  • Awesome! How are they doing now?

  • awww poor baby:(

  • @evoleulb, ever stop to think that the baby might be blind WITHOUT the contacts. We've been using contacts in our 2 year old for over a year now. Without them, he can't see. Trust me when I say, he'd much rather have someone stick their fingers in his eye than to not be able to see. Do some research before posting stupidity. The number 1 treatment option for congential cataracts is to replace the clouded natural lens with a contact.

  • @nateandsuzi can they just wear glasses?

  • @mayra4244 - Glasses are not a good option for post-cataract patients. The main reason is that the prescription is so high (my 2 year old's is currently +20). Glasses would be extremely heavy. Plus contacts offer better overall vision. Peripheral vision is better and there is no space between the eye & the lens, so there is less distortion. Older kids and adults can have intraocular lenses implanted, but with babies & toddlers, the preferred treatment is contacts.

  • @mayra4244 - (cont'd) Since a baby's eyes are growing rapidly, their prescription changes fast. With an IOL, the prescription is set & can only be changed by doing more surgery or by adding glasses and/or contacts. With contacts, the prescription is much easier to change. When the children get older & their eyes are done growing, they can get lens implants instead of using contacts. Sure, it would be easier to do that now with a 2 year old, but future eye health is more important than ease.

  • @evoleulb there are some toddlers have to wear lenses I have a friend his fathers started to put lens when he was just 3 yeard old because he don't have any retina so if parents have to do it well cruel or not medicine world never be cute. but his father did it when he was in sleep sorry for bad english but I think you get it

  • Thank you so much! This looks much easier than the way the doctor's office showed us. We also have to use a lens for a toddler, and the "pinching" method (the lens, not the toddler) just made the lens fall off my finger before I could get it to her eye. We will try this method next time we put her lens in!

  • you have to be 12 to wear contacts, ??? if there was a hair on the contact, it hurts!!! how is tht baby supposed to tell you 'THIS FUCKING HURTS BITCH'

  • @bbshannah See baby has cataracts idiot.

  • Wow, you're a brave mama. I could never do it alone. Very good...

  • I respect you with all I have lady, serious! I stand and applaud you

  • dID you know that they do have glasses for babies thats why their not blind....ah thats just simply terrifying to do that to this poor little boy......

  • You wouldn't be so fast if your baby was Asian

  • @chervakrubin actually, asians have very similar sizes of eyes as caucasians or any other race. it's the crease of the eyes that some asians don't have that make their eyes look smaller. and asian babies usually have HUGE eyes lol

  • ur the best mommma ever :) he will love you when he is older :PP!

  • I wish people would just type "congential cataract treatment" into a search engine before spewing their ignorance. Then they would be asking question like "Why can't they wear glasses" or calling those of us who have to go through this with our little ones "stupid" or bad mother".

  • Thank you for sharing this. My husband has one pseudoaphakic eye and one aphakic eye from bilateral congenital cataracts, and our son inherited this trait as well. We are both looking forward to and fearing getting his first contact this week. I can't believe how many ignorant people didn't bother to read why you are doing this, or think that glasses would be just as good. My husband hated his glasses and had significantly reduced vision from the farther focal point. The best to your children!

  • Thank you. Our son was born with cataracts and your video is the main thing that has helped us. Now to get them in in the morning. Thank you so much! Check out the videos I made of Asher Gregory Fountain on my you tube channel. jfountai

  • Thank you so much for your video

  • Awww I feel so sorry for the children but u r a great mother for being so dedicated to ur children, well done.

  • why cant they just wear glases?

  • @alyluvsyew Can you imagine getting a baby to wear glasses and keep them on?

  • @coopercute well dont u think its a little but easier than putting on contacts everyday?

  • @alyluvsyew Haha yeah, I know I won't be that dedicated of a mom, ever O_O

  • @alyluvsyew I know, I wore glasses, if my mum had tried shoving them in my eyes id have probs screamed the place down

  • Thank you so much for putting this up, you make it look so easy! My 11 1/2 month old just had a lensectemy on Friday in his right eye as he has a condition called PHPV and today we went to get him fitted for a contact lense. He hated it, and now I'm worried about how I'm going to manage doing it myself. I'm having trouble getting all his eye drops let alone the contact! Anyway I think you're amazing, I can't beleive what some people are writing on here, they obviously have no idea

  • 0_O

  • Thank you so much for your video. My 10 week old had unilateral cataract surgery 4 weeks ago and his contact just feel out after he rubbed his eye. Up to now the doctor had inserted and removed the lens, only cleaning it once a week, but I'll let him sleep without it tonight and will try your method tomorrow. The best of luck to you with your beautiful boys.

  • wow. i never knew such a thing....

  • Wow! this is amazing! i didn't know this! anyway Good luck to you and ur son! :)

  • Exactly toontownn1111

Thats True,What Would Happen If They Fall Asleep?

  • @rainahreid16 i heard people said it is fine to fall asleep with soft lenses. but i never do that before. xD

  • what if they fall asleep!

  • this video just freaks me out... i'm fourteen and i have worn contacts before but i think putting them into a babys eyes is just not right :O

  • @iLike2EatGravy so if you were older and had a child with the same condition what would you do?

  • I am so sorry is because i think this pretty child is so young to have contacts but i am so sorry u r a god mommy Good bless u

  • thats so sad y dont u just make them wear googles cus glasses slip and contacts seem dangerous at a young age so what about googles they do the same thing right?

  • OMG is so young !!!!!! u r so stupid!!

  • @Kike3851 Read up a bit .... Feeling stupid?

  • @Kike3851 Look up just a little bit and read the description. Who's stupid now huh? -.-

  • I couldn't do that to my children, I would be too afraid.! your one amazing woman to be able to go through that daily. My prayers goes out to you and your lovely children.!

  • well i can see why the baby needs conacts because glasses would just fall off but what is the point in the toddler wearing the contacts when hes doing just fine with glasses... i guess every kid has his day when he doesnt want to wear his glasses... but it just sounds a little unnecissary..

  • oh, your poor babies!

you do a great job tho

  • i didnt know there was such a thing :(

i bless you and your children, i cannot believe how hard it must be, and you must be a very patient and caring woman :)

  • scary,,,,, but mom's so good

  • awwwwwwwww

    he is so cute

  • awww. he's so little. he has beautiful eyes.

  • omg!

a baby dont need contact lens

    but oké,

    you didt it very good

    ps: cute baby!

  • poor baby :( i feel so bad for him you a very good mother for being so caring and patient.

  • wow its easier to put em on a baby than me wow thats embarrasing.

  • Wow!! I had no idea ppl do this. How did u know your babies would need contacts at such a young age??

  • omg LOL THATS TORTURE

  • It's even harder if the child is conscious .

  • Susan, I just wanted to thank you (again) for your video! Our little guy has been in contacts for 7 months now (he's 19 months) & things have gotten so much easier! We switched from weekly removal to daily removal to get him used to the routine and it has made all the difference in the world.

I wish people would stop posting ignorance. Do a little research (heck, just Google it) on congenital cataracts & you'll see that we are doing what's best for our babies!

  • wtf? u dont put contacts on babies and toddlers!

  • @musiclover3369 - You might not, but people who have babies/toddlers with eye problems do! Do a bit of research on "congenital cataracts" or "childhood aphakia" before spewing your BS!

  • @nateandsuzi actually i think its just stupid but hey... its just my opinion

  • @musiclover3369 - And your degree in ophthalmology is from...? The American Academy of Opthalmology's opinion counts for more than some random 16 year old hiding behind a computer.

Stupid would be letting our babies be blind when treatment is as easy as putting contact lenses in, which is the most common treatment for aphakia.

When you have kids & have to make a decision like this, then you can call it stupid. Until then, go play.

  • @nateandsuzi y dont u just use glasses then? it hurts less and is a lot less annoying!

  • @musiclover3369 - Glasses would be very, very thick (my son's prescription is +23, but the contacts he's in go all the way to +32) even if we got special lenses that had been cut down. Plus contacts allow for sharper, clearer vision. The distance between the eye and a glasses lens allows for distortion & peripheral vision is messed up as well.

Contacts are the best choice for babies with the condition. Lens implants are the choice for adults or older children whose eyes are done growing.

  • @musiclover3369 - Glasses aren't the answer for every eye problem. They would be very, very thick (my son's prescription is +23, but these contacts go to +32) even if we got special lenses that had been cut down. Contacts allow for sharper, clearer vision. The distance between the eye & a glasses lens allows for distortion & peripheral vision isn't as good.

Contacts are the best choice for babies with the condition. Contacts don't hurt & aren't nearly as annoying as glasses.

  • @nateandsuzi when they're babies dont they need to learn everything? and for that (at the start atleast) they dont need those! but yes, if your son actually does have +23 then lenses would be WAY better

  • @musiclover3369, what do you mean "when they're babies don't they need to learn everything?"

  • @nateandsuzi i mean that they dont need to read or write yet so why put in contacts

  • @musiclover3369 - Because they need to learn to crawl, walk, pick things up, etc. Just b/c they aren't reading or writing doesn't mean aren't learning anything or that they don't need to see. Like I said before, the vision part of their brain is at a critical development stage. If the brain has to struggle to see, it eventually just gives up trying. If we don't correct vision NOW, later when he "needs" it (according to you), he wouldn't have it to correct.

  • @musiclover3369

children were born with cataracts and would be blind if I did not put contacts in their eyes at such a young age.

  • Are you crazy!? you put contact's to baby!? WTF!!???

  • lol u think the baby would be harder

  • He issss soooo cute, are the contacts that you put on your children specially made or are they regular contacts like older people wear are they perscriptives just wondering cause this is my first time knowing that a baby wears contacts

  • My 8 week old daughter had bilateral cataracts removed at 6 weeks has been waering contacts for about 2 weeks now. It is a nightmare to put them in, and it causes alot of stress and anxiety. The ONLY reason parents do this is to give their children the best possible eyesight. It takes a strong and patient person to put contacts in an infant. Shame on the people who judge us for this. You are completely uneducated and cruel. Without these contacts our children would be BLIND.

  • @kwadephoto i actually didnt know that they were doing this because they HAD to .. i thought they were just doing it cuz they wanted to .. thanks for the info

  • @kwadephoto One word for you: GLASSES.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheRealEtniesgirl9: Even though you are completely ignorant, I will explain to you why glasses are not the best option.

    1. Babies are very likely to continuously pull glasses off because they do not like them on their face. Contacts do not bother them nearly as much, and are much more likely to stay in place.

    2. Contacts give much better vision than glasses. Due to the natural lens having to be removed, the lens used in glasses would be very very very thick.

  • @kwadephoto Never knew that children could be born with cataracts...makes me much more thankful that my son was born healthy with no problems. All people need to do is read the facts but a lot of people are too lazy to do that and are stuck in their ways.

  • Dear Susan,

I don't wont to attack you, but you are doing these very wrong. Please, try to insert contact in our eyes that way. You will probably gone crazy. The contact must be completely clean even from fingerprints! Otherwise you just can't wear it.

Your baby is so small that he can not tell you that, but believe me when I tell you - I'ts not ok. I'm wearing contact for 21 years and I have very hi miopia. If you like, I can record an video, just to show you how to do'it right.

  • well its good ur taking careof ur kids my mom doesent give me care like that

  • wow. your an amazing mother :) goodluck

  • my name is joshua

  • @TheZebraCode101 LOL you're a joke. Can't you see her poor babies were born with bilateral contacts, and WITHOUT her putting lenses in their eyes, her children would be BLIND. Are you freaking retarded? These children are BABIES. First off, glasses would not have fixed the problem very effectively. Secondly, did you REALLY think the babies would be fine with having something on their face? They will knock it off, and could quite possible hurt themselves with the glasses. YOU'RE SO STUPID.

  • @pielol36 If you had payed any attention to the video, the babies need contacts because they were born with cataracts, and if they did not wear their contacts they would be BLIND.

  • This mother have to see a psycho doctor. I never see this crazy mummy ever in my life ! uneducated at all !

  • @yokehelen - Grow up! Unless you have a degree in ophthalmology or have researched congenital cataracts, you're the crazy one for judging!

  • This mother have to see a psycho doctor. I never see this crazy mummy ever in my life ! uneducated at all !

  • It takes a strong woman to do this and you definitely are to save your children's sight. I commend you for taking such action and not being fearful of putting them in. A big hug here for you :)

  • Comment removed

  • @janayakatlyn The need the contact because there is no lens in the eye. The contact lens works as the lens that is supposed to be in the eye.

  • @tropicalorange101 They are made to stay in for a week. They don't hurt them.

  • I never knew how rude people were until my son was born with a cataract.I can't believe some of the things people are saying on here.Do you really think it's a choice for us mothers to put a contact lense in our babies eye?It hurts me more to have to put it in than it does him.Having to put a contact lens in my sons eye is not a choice it is medically necessary.Noone chooses to put a contact in a babies eye we HAVE to so our child can see.I have a lot of respect for parents that do this as I do

  • @pielol36 The Lens that the baby was born with was removed. So now the child can not see. The contact is put in place of the lens so the baby can see. They do not make glasses for a lens that strong, and if they did it would be about 5 inches thick. That is the reason for contacts in babies.

  • Hi Sue, I just started putting a lens in my 7 month old daughter. It took me almost 2 hours to put it in, and I stll have not been able to remove it. The one that you are using for Joshua, is it a hard lens in the middle and soft around it? We were giving a small plunger to remove it, and it's just not working. Is it easier to pinch it out like you are showing in the video? I would be scared I would break the lens. My daughter screams likr someone is killng her. Any more tips would be helpfull.

  • Very informative, I applaud you for uploading this. I am amazed you can do such a sensitive action and talk at the same time.

p.s you have an awesome accent (lol)

To commenters. Neither child is being harmed, and the toddler is just acting as all toddlers would, being fussy and annoyed at something that is not going their way.

  • I don't understand the contacts thing either because the toddler had glasses on.

  • @Healthspire So they dont have to wear glasses their whole life.

  • @BreezyLivee They can wear lenses when they get older but there is no sense in making them sit there while poking at their eyes, especially a young baby like that if he flinches and mom accidentally pokes his eye to wear it damages it or really hurts.

I say let them wear eyeglasses until they're at least 12 unless of course this is a cosmetic thing which would really make me sad and since there is no other valid purpose I think it's safe to say it is.

    :(

  • @Healthspire why should they wear glasses? they are young they'd probably break them or take them off and hide them before they even wear them for a day. just saying. :)

  • @twiloverforever Maybe, but it's better than accidentally hurting them, right? I know plenty of toddlers and many of them wear glasses never had a problem with breaking them all the time. In fact they're better than I am at keeping glasses protected - I had mine for 3 weeks and sat on them, then I bought a pair ... expensive pair and lost them in a few days. lmao xD

  • @Healthspire - I guarantee the kids you know don't have prescriptions nearly as high as aphakic children have. These contacts go up to crazy strenghts. My 19 month old's prescription is +23.00!

  • @Healthspire The Lens that the baby was born with was removed. So now the child can not see. The contact is put in place of the lens so the baby can see. They do not make glasses for a lens that strong, and if they did it would be about 5 inches thick. That is the reason for contacts in babies.

  • @Minndeeh Right, but if the child was born with bilateral cataracts then I would presume she or he would have had corrective surgery for the cataracts and an intraocular lens is placed where the old or missing lens from their eye(s)? I read nothing about them needing contacts from that point on ...

  • @Healthspire My daughter was born with a cataract in her left eye, the just removed her lens last month. They did not put in an intraocular lens because babies vision changes almost every six months, so they would have to do the surgery almost every six months to put a new lens in. My daughter is wearing a contact now, and they said she will go in for surgery when she is about 5 or 6 to get a permanent one put in.

  • @Minndeeh Okay then. I still don't think it's a good idea though.

  • @Healthspire - Contacts are the #1 form of correction in aphakic babies. Intraocular lenses are great for older kids & adults, but no babies. Do a bit more research.

  • sorry if someone already asked this but why cant they just wear glasses?

  • @TurQuoiseTeety Well this is my theory: they are young they'd probably break them or take them off and hide them before they even wear them for a day. just saying. :)

  • i am so sorry about your kid

  • pls answer..why do you need to put the contacts in the certain container..i mean like i used the contacts on my left eyes..can i not use it on the right ..can not interchange it...do i really need to place it on the same eyes and cannot interchange it

  • youre a great mom being able to do that!! hope all is well with you and your beautiful family

  • Lmao "I'm done… YAAAY!!!! *claps*" xD

  • thats...omg i was like sweating when you were putting them in.

  • Lol, I have to say I admire your dedication, and I do understand the seriousness of the situation. I had to laugh a little though when your toddler was grunting during the process at 5:00 min. He was just like oh gees here we go again lol. Good job for being a good parent we need more like you out there.

  • how she know he need them its kinda funny but ............. omg i never heard of anything like this he not even crying omg

  • All of these commenters are fucking idiots! If they were smart, they would have read the uploader's comment saying that the contacts are REQUIRED or her kid will go blind for life!!!

Suebhoney2672, perhaps you should explain why you are putting the contacts in the child's eyes in in the description so the giant clan of idiots will be less offended, lol.

  • Why would babys have contacts?

    Just get glasses!

  • @AccompaniedxGB why should they wear glasses? they are young they'd probably break them or take them off and hide them before they even wear them for a day. just saying. :)
