it's pretty,fast ...energetic rock'n'roll ,except for the speed ...the rest of the version has nothing diferent... very inferior vocals only and sax not so good as the Little Richard's version.But this speed and messy sound is really inovative.

The first song I heard by the Sonics was Strychnine, and I was VERY impressed...and I kept wondering what it reminded me of. I decided it sounded like a deranged Little Richard song...on steroids. I wondered if the Sonics had been influenced by him, and I guess that's a big YES.

P.S. Thanx to RHINO for the 'Nuggets' 4-CD box set. Primer in early punk.

Yeha LR did it - and Jenny Jenny and maybe other Sonics stuff. I love both versions, the Sonics one is slightly punkier but I don't think you can beat the original LR vocals on this track.
