This was done away with in the 80s I think, or perhaps the 90s. After that they were allowed to take donations if they were offered, but not allowed to ask for money.

The problem I have with JW's statement that the "light gets brighter and brighter" is that Truth does not contradict Truth.
The Medical profession used to think that tomatoes were poisonous and that smoking is good for you.
But we learned more and more and finally realized that tomatoes are NOT poisonous but that smoking is poisonous. And what happened?
They admitted that they had claimed FALSELY and were WRONG. Have Jehovah's Witnesses EVER done so? Not to my knowledge.
