If you are demonstrating classcial guitar performance, 4 out of 5, not bad. If you are demonstrating how fast you can play tremelo, 4 out of 5, not even enough. If you are performing Alhambra, this is a classic way of demonstrating how to "murder" a piece of music. 1 out of 5 for no mistake.
Hmm, 10-string...he's must have a "pair" to use it in concert. He plays well, but like me, he hasn't nailed the tremolo down...it needs to be steady and flowing, it's the backdrop to the piece. His "speedy" playing could just be that he was just practicing, not necessarily his normal playing speed...but who knows. Overall, he sounds good, hardly a buzz on the frets.
It is really at the discretion of the artist, whoever is playing it... personally, i used to play this piece a lil slower, but then it gets harder because its easier to hear the little mistakes and then with the tremolo, i think its a little harder to do it faster... so, yea... it really just depends on who is listening...
no mi hermano no es yepes es un japones,,,,,,,,,por eso digo que esta muy rapida,,,,,,,el yepes interpreta mejor,,,,,,,,bueno aunque cada quien es libre de interpretar como quiera :-)
This is way too fast and i have to agree its 'hurry-up and finish' thing without any serious empathy... This is why I think Yepes' version is the best because of its beauty when I hear that.
Wow. All the far east guys just seem to want to go fast like crazy. The more notes the better. Sounds like guitar meets knitting machine if you ask me.
It is not actually that technically difficult to play this fast like he does here but it just shows he has no understanding how to interpret and make this piece sound really beautiful. He has the technical ability to play the notes 'fast' but nothing else.
What on earth message did he think the music was trying to portray? Because playing it in the style of someone gargling salt water really is a travesty....
Yes I wonder why so fast. Take a lesson from singers. Imagine someone gets up and sings and sounds like they're calling a horse race. Trying to sing the most words in a second possible. It would sound pretty silly. Same with any instrument I think. You lose the notes.
Agreed, this is a tiny bit fast. But take the same argument. IF a singer were to sing the melodic line (or a violinist play it), not as a tremolo (obviously) but as sustained notes, then the tempo would be nearly this fast, or it would drag too much. So yes, guitarists can learn something about an appropriate tempo from singers!
In other words, though this is only slightly too fast, with not quite enough rubato and attention to phrasing and dynamics, it still is a better tempo than that of most guitarists, which is much too slow to allow the melodic line to really sing. Listen to Yepes for this one: perfect tempo.
i think that's was very awful too. I must say his has got an incredible speed, but it sounds very scratchy, sometimes he mistakely plays the other strings, no tempo, and lack of dynamics. I must say i cant play tremolo that fast, but that piece isn't about speed, it's about being played very beautiful. If u guys wanna know what i mean, listen to yepes version, when u listen to it, u actually feel something, with this guy u feel he has to work a little bit more on it...
Wow, a Japanese Yepes Impersonator!! This is not Narciso Yepes Dude, change the title to your video. On another note, this fellow should quit caffeine. The Alhambra is a peaceful palace full of soothing fountains... not a racetrack.
thats awful" ok, no problem, but things like that can't be said unless we truly know who's speaking, so that we can tell if you know what you're saying cause, whether not, it will look like a frantic rolling stone journalist wannabe. =P
at least, show a little more respect for this, Narciso Yepes, is one of the most important guitarrist in the history of this instrument. and also, this place here is for commenting the videos, not for throwing tomatos. just say what you think, and avoid cursing, for god's sake. all people can see here is cursing and stupid opinions like "charlieboi1990 (1 week ago)

its waaaay 2 fast... u gta slow it down dude... but well dun 4 getin it right tho :D",
neither can this guy! There are dozens of unintended open strings. And his nails click more than a pinball machine. You have no ears if you can't discern these fatal speed-related flaws.
And by the way, did you happen to notice that he comes to almost an abrupt halt for no reason other than to prevent losing it numerous times? There's no tempo. Notice the bouncing first finger towards the end of the piece?! Tarrega would've thrown a tomato at him.
I can't stand this guy, everything i've seen him play employs nothing beyond the normal six strings. What the hell? And he plays this piece robotically at 20bpm too fast.
Yes, this is astounding, and it makes me wonder just how many people are capable of playing like this. It certainly isnt perfect, though that pedal point acheived with Media, Anular, and his pinky is great, too. And I just noticed that he's playing a guitar sitting on a piano bench... Odd. XD.
It is really saddening for some to play it too fast. As far as I know this is not Tarrega's required speed for this song. Narciso Yepes also plays this song fast. Technically great but not heartfelt. Like Michaelangelo Batio to Eric Clapton.
