We used to die from scarce resources. Scarcity = competition = violence. Since then, we`ve increased production & resource supply using science & technology (e.g. agriculture), which also decreases human labour. Technology = Abundance. Today, people don`t starve from lack of food, they starve from lack of money, a human invention that has us hoarding, restricting & wasting resources to increase value & profit. Resource Based Economy is the next step in our evolution. Watch Zeitgeist Addendum.
All economics is based really on one basic problem that has to due with scarcity: unlimited wants and limited resources.
"What are we going to do with our resources to satisfy our wants?"
This is a problem that ultimately a problem that humanity faces. We are always constantly wanting more than what we have and there is only a certain amount of resources available. I believe even when we get what we desire, we want more after that point- its a never ending circle that creates this problem.
"Unlimited wanting" does not exist. We desire more because the media tells us to. Our economy requires that we constantly buy things to keep money flowing. Corporations pump-out products designed to fail using cheap labor and short-cuts, while ads convince us that new trends will make us happy & that non-conformity leads to rejection. In 1915 the Wilkinson Sword Company wanted to sell more razors, so their ads convinced us that women's hairy armpits are gross. It's time to outgrow this madness.
