  • First heard this in the Iron Door soul club in Liverpool circa 1967,long before the term ''Northern soul'' was invented.Keep on Keeping on.

  • Remember this one from Wigan Casino. Big Tune!!!!!

  • That's me, no more!!

  • the first ever 'northern soul' sound I heard. Many people knock it but I think it's down to personal tastes and memories lol. We all love being taken back 30 40 years? Can remember shuffling along nicely to it often .

  • I have been into the "scene" for many years and there are many po faced idiots who prefer to diss people , rather than encourage, Enjoy the music we all love and tell the idiots to f**k off. To answer the question,,"Keep the Faith" --- in Northern Soul..

  • Apart from, 'Queen of Fools' what are the rest of the words?

  • @SteveArpo

im a fool!!!!! or maybe it's you thats the fool ? who knows?

  • @motown60s I sorry but I see there are so many enthusiastic and knowledgeable people on here I just thought someone would know the answer. Is that another way of saying, 'Keep the faith' - calling someone a fool for asking a perfectly innocent question?

  • @SteveArpo go to wikipedia put in barbara mills queen of fools lyrics

  • An old northern soul classic

  • I am from Manchester England I love this song. I had it on a 45 yrs ago. I'm so happy I found it again. I live in the US now and nobody here knows anything about northern soul, they don't know what the're missing. how ironic.

  • Hi

I am from Manchester. They have opened the Twisted Wheel again ( one Friday night session and one Sunday Afternoon session) it gets packed to the rafters...they play all the old songs and they play this song almost every time...one of my all time favs too : ) I think a lot of the artists don't realise we still play these tunes.

  • Where in the US are you. Some of the soulies go over for Motwon "tours" Kev Roberts organises them. I live in Australia now and we have a Northern Scene over here, mostly ex-pats. This was playing when I walked in to my first Soul night in Australia, and I knew it was the real deal! I had this record and someone nicked it!

  • Lucky u living in USA!. BUT A SHAME NOT APPRECIATED NORTHERN SOUL. wigan casinos will be remembred 4 eva, and the music will live on!. Enjoy your life across the pond!

  • respect , keep the faith people , best ever x

  • classic imo! ktf

  • It is indeed a classic

  • Herringthorpe get some therapy ! its just a song

  • narkydjh, i couldnt agree more with your comments. I dont understand all this ill feeling, from different era's, venues, clubs etc, i love northern soul, be it from clubs in the 60's 70's, the only reservation i have, is the sound that started to come through, which reminded me of a disco/funk sound, but i still appreciated how good it was. there is room for every one out there, we dont have to be rude to one another. best wishes jacqui

  • Ace northern classic ... great post .. KTF..

  • Thankyou for this share!!!

  • Still a great song

  • Here we go again Chewy, the untouchable torch crowd. I was a Wigan regular from 74 onwards. The best thing was when the sightseeing " old guard " vanished up their own arseholes, you thought we should look up to you because you were older, and had visited other soul clubs, coming to the odd nighter looking down your snotty noses. YOU thought you invented Motown !!!!!!

  • A track players and hula hoops

  • i think the label gives it away on the opening shot 7/12 /65 ? hey still a great song

  • I bought a copy of this in 1972 and it was not an original, I can pinpoint the year precisely as it was the year I turned 18.

  • flax- 75 was when i first heard this, i think it is more 1965 but not 100% sure never the less great tune

  • Just found this after, well after many years and a lot of water under the bridge, But wow time travel back to happy days 1975, Cheltenhan (uk) the only northern soul club in the south- brilliant

  • This was playing when I walked in to my first soul night after a break of 20 years. I just went straight onto the dance floor and remembered every beat!

  • this is a defining moment in the the soul of the North. The Northern Soul. Proud and enduring. The sound and lyric drills right into the bone like nothing else.

  • magic what a voice and what a tune just makes you want to get up and throw some moves out
