@hartleymartin Only the couple of other videos I've posted. I left enough there to show how I'm making the various parts. Sorry, I don't have any dimensions, I just "eyeball" everything. I searched youtube and any web pages I could find on homemade pipe organs and gleaned what I liked the best. The keyboard I laid out with the same measurements as my piano.
If you did all this without help it's wonderful, and if you had help that's wonderful too. Credit goes to you and all those who have nurtured your confidence and provided you with the means to follow through with your remarkable intentions.
The pipes could be cut slightly sharp and small rolled sheet metal "sardine can" tuners attached to the top for more precise tuning. In a few years you could work for a pipe organ builder. You're already off to a great start.
Nice video and nice organ, great. This is the g-moll prelude taken from the eight little preludes and fugues. The authorship of JSB about this collection is doubtful.
Really nice organ! So, how does it work? I'm guessing when you push a key, that opens a solenoid/manifold and allows air through? I want to try building an organ.
Thank you. I have a couple of other videos posted showing how it works. I tried to make this organ as simple as a could, no electric solenoids or anything.
@hidemichiXT This is the Prelude in G minor from the 8 little preludes and fugues. They were initially attributed to Bach, but more likely by Johann Ludwig Krebs.
Nice progress! It looks and sounds like you have a good organist who can play for the dedication concert when the organ is completed and all of the tuning and voicing meets your expectations.
Expectations are funny. When I first started this, I believed I would be happy with just about any sound. Now I'm getting picky and bugged by the variations in tone quality of my crude pipes. The smallest (C#5 and up) are more "breathy" than the others, the the largest are slower to sound, etc... I never would have believed I could distinguish all this. I'm learning alot.
Awesome! :o)

@vslslr She should play an c not an c# ;)
MegaDani141 6 months ago
@MegaDani141 Yes you're right, but it doesn't really matter on this instrument...

@vslslr He means: The left hand should play a C instead of C# at 0:34! :)

Is there any delay in how long it takes from when you press the key to when the pipe sounds?

I think these would be called flue pipes

Lovely sound. Have you thought of adding bass pedals?
Lunariouse 2 years ago
It does need foot pedals. I'll see how I feel after finishing the last octave that the organ needs.
vslslr 2 years ago
It appears that more of us have built these than one would think! I'm glad to see your video.

Thanks. It is facinating to hear the pipes sing. Even though I know how they work and even built them, it still amazes me that they work.
