I don't know if this is connected, but in northeast Oklahoma, I have discovered tall poles with antenna on top being placed just outside several small towns. These poles are about twice the heigth of the utility poles that carry the electric lines. Could they be listening posts or something like that? Look in Narcissa, Ok, & just east of Bluejacket, Ok, and just southeast of Welch, Ok. The poles are in line with the electric lines on the side of the road.
It's not just cell phones. I am a TI (targeted individual, look it up) and I know from experience they can listen to you through your computer's speaker, your home phone's speaker, any tape recorder or boom box you have in your home. If you put your ear to the speaker & you hear a hissing sound, even when the device is off, you are being listened to. And I'm not sure it's true that if you take the battery out, you can stop it.
@xander7ful In order for 'them' to record and transmit/receive the signal from the listening device, the device has to be powered in some form. Without batteries (disregarding solar power like may be used in calculators, phones, etc) or a plug, how else would the devices be able to be turned on and used to listen to you? Doesn't make logical sense.
There's a difference between being informed/cautious, and being paranoid.

I don't know what receivers look like in tape recorders, cell phones, etc or how they operate. But it makes logical sense to me that you would only need some type of technology able to remotely access the receiver part of a device, apart from a battery.

One look at spy equipment web sites I noticed hidden GPS car remotes, smaller versions of "zoombak" with extra long life batteries and magnets to be hidden under your car! Wait thats not all, Cell phone spy software recieved though SMS disguised as legit Carrier Upgrades. This tool is probably loved by perverts to watch you in your home so they sell it over the web on XXX web sites.
Remedy-Thick rubber cell phone cases, Microphone covers, camera covers. Never allow anyone to touch your phone.
nevermind the gov. Your boss can do this to you just to see if you are job hunting or to find out where your place of worship is. Watch out for paranoid wifes or husbands also.

What I DID show was how he said it was good so that they can "track known members of the mafia". Another distortion.
