I've raised birds all my life including these Java Rice birds aka finches. Please be conscious! They are an invasive species in Hawaii and are quite adaptive. If you found some outside and feel you have to rear them Please don't let them escape. They are very aggressive and displace a lot of the native birds in Hawaii. You can see them wild naturally in several countries in S.E.A. . There is also another sub-species that is lighter gray. Only the male sings. They are very intelligent birds!

My Java Sparrow's mated, and now their trying to make a nest, but if you buy them one they still won't you it XD

to bad its very rare now to see them in java,
back in 90's i raise em in large cage and 3-4 wild finches would came to stop by.
but now they are dissapearing

yes there aren´t any more lots of them in java but you can find lots of java finches in Hawaii, Fiji, Philipines and also Miami

i live in hawaii there r lots of these. i found 3 little ones at my doorstep as these other birds raided their nest. now im handfeeding them.

It is so cool. I would love to visit hawaii someday and meet wild java finches. I have heard there are lots of them on Magic Island.
