Good video. I have to build a fence, and it seems all the country folks like gravel, and all the suburban people use concrete. I trust the country people, chances are they have built way more fences than the others. My only thing is trying to find the right gravel. I have to get educated on crusher run and all that stuff. Some say use pea gravel, others say no way. I need to find the sure bet.
Thanks for the tips. I have 1.5 acres I'm fencing in just using dummy poles. ... well I should say my 13 yr old daughter is using them. It's a Character Building Exercise for bad grades.
Good instructional vid Wayne! As you say do it right the first time then you don't have to do it over. Yeh the smoking can wind you but that is for each one to decide. I smoked for years and found myself getting winded. Plus people bugging me to quit so I started dipping (Copenhagen Long Cut) love that stuff. Got my wind back so smoking is history for me. Only when I can't dip. Them quit smoking aids are crap. Of course I didn't want to go nicotine free either. I found I don't have to spit much.
We used to have a JD401B (basically a 2030 Industrial) that was a terrible ether baby. It's first life was spent being owned by the West Virginia State Highway department, which was where it's ether addiction came from. Other than that, and the fact that it didn't have any remote outlets, it was a real good tractor to us, especially for raking hay.
That Deere is a handy little tractor, and very reliable from the sound of it. Do you have a loader for both it and the bigger deere. or is the one loader interchangeable?
5:03 to 5:23 it looks like the sun is a black hole and it is opening up scary... LOL and that is how i say it munerr that is the first time i have herd some one elts say it like that
Great job! A lost art setting a post. most people just cement them in anymore then they rot out in 5 years. I like to use some stone also with the soil, and let that tamping bar do the work wayne, let it slide through your hands when its bottoming out. Much less impact to your joints.
yup when we get in to some of the other pastures where the gravel is very heavy, the posts will set very solid... as to my tamping style perhaps that is why my joints always hurt lol
@wagner59270 your lucky if you can get it for 150 dollars a truck load... i have worked with farmers befor but they mostly have there cows out in the field so its kinda hard to collect lol...

Good to see you putting your P.H.D. to good use(post hole digger) my Dad always said a good fence was horse high... bull strong

Thanks for the vid, it's way easier than having them in cement like they did with my fence's posts.

I think the best way after you put the in his the top off on a angle then pack dirt up around it so water won't flow in it

I dug a few post holes for some fence sections around the yard- easy digging cause its sand- packs real easy as well.
dangeroustoys56 2 years ago
all the ground around our place is hard clay and gravel... really hard to dig but packs in a post like cement
wagner59270 2 years ago
