Doom - Episode 3 - Nightmare shotgun only speedrun

I played and finished Doom 2 for PC on nightmare and tried with the original Doom as well. For some reason I found nightmare on the original Doom to be much more difficult... I didn't even make it past the first episode. Anyway, I would encourage all the naysayers to actually try and beat any Doom title on nightmare.

What these guys are fucking saying? What he (the DOOM player) did is extremely hard to accomplish. I'm a PC gamer and I never played the Xbox version, although I can say that they aren't THAT different.

This may not be one of those global record-breakers but the achievement is great. Also I note that your responses to the nay-sayers are very well-put.

@xodarapi Thanks! I don't play Doom on pc, so I've hardly played any custom wads. Just from watching speedruns though, I think claustrophobia is really cool.

@AidanCecile First off, who's to say what is the purpose of playing the game? The developers put in a par time for every level, so the creators themselves encourage speedrunning. Second, what is the purpose, playing the game "normally" by not worrying about time? If so, then I hope you realize the only way to do speedruns is to know the game inside and out, and the only way to do that is to play the game "normally" many many times... In the end it's just a game, you can do whatever you want.

great speedrun, just awsome some of the tricks, and great aim for a xbox control (thats is most dificult for me) but i think is much harder the original version, i had mine emulated in dosbox, many of the tricks in the original version are imposible.

The PC one is much harder than this. You have to be a master at dodging these and bumping on the walls so you wont waste time and allow the enemy to hit you. But those ONE EYED creatures are mad nasty.

@Fellzification No it isn't. They are almost exactly the same. The pinkies are faster in the PC version but that's about the only difference. Not enough to qualify as "much harder" imo. Also it's much harder to strafe run in the xbox version, making trick jumps much harder to do than on the PC version. Some tricks aren't even possible in the xbox version such as the red key grab in e4m1. You sure it's much harder on PC?

What you did is quite hard, with or without assiting tools. As far as I'm concerned, this game doesn't have glitches to help you pass the levels faster.

On the XBOX 360 you go straight to Dis after Limbo there is no level 9. I know because i've played through the game a few times.

Thanks! It took me around 2-3 hours to do the whole episode. A few of the levels took a lot of retries, e3m4 and e3m7 in particular. The rest weren't too hard.

My absolute favorite weapon on doom or any fps game. I like the standard shotgun more than the super shotgun on doom 2, i dunno, it's just a great weapon haha
