I think Asena is special in her own way. I don't get it why she always looks pissed and does rought movements. But the girl is very talented. But she always dances on 2 ssongs over and over. I wish she would show some more stuff and express herself. Very pretty girls though.

of course, everyone has different perception of music and the way how to express it. asena is one of the greatest turkish dancers today, i might like it or not...but thats a fact.

and she is much much better in drum solos.

of course everybody have different perceptions, but the main thing in bellydance is the art of move the hips and chest like snake mixed with other moves and this girl doesnt move nothing just legs and arms and anybody can move legs and arms

Didem is not better, Didem is muuuuch better!!! Asena can even clean the floor after her perfomance. She doesn't move almost nothing. And she doesn't show any tricks. Only twist and go backwars and forwards... Watch from 3:05min hahah

classic turkish dance is similar, but asena has her own style...i respect her because she started totally new age in bellydancing in turkey, dancers are thin, atractive and very popular.

she is better in drum solo then instrumentals, but you can find lot of her videos or other turkish dancers like didem, tanyeli etc. not to mention sema yildiz, who is a legend of turkish dance and karshilama, gypsy dance. and i have to admit - i prefer egyptian and lebanese...

dinavienna, this is modern turkish belly dance, but if you are used to egyptian or lebanese, it is a big difference. turkish is quite agressive, not elegant as egyptian, not to mention costumes...

afwan dina, well thats why i prefer egyptian raqs sharki and lebanese...lebanese in my opinion could be perfect (except costumes, they seem too cheap and voulgar), because their dance is sort of fusion turkish and egyptian dance...lot of elements from both styles. but it depends on dancers, everyone is different and has something personal...regards and kisses

just came back to watch this again coz it s interesting :)

you are right lebanese style has a bit of both, it s very fast and energetic. yet it does of course keep many traits of the arabic dance. it s different if the people trully understand the arab music, the words, and what the melodies express.

so that is why lebanese of course is very different from turkish even if both are very energetic :)

where's the technique? where's the layering? *any* layering? this is more like mediocre ball room meeting mediocre belly dance. If a dancer is going to rely on spins and arms, she has to be exceptionally graceful, and Asena is not. The poor choreography shows up a lack of technique
