its such a double standard to say that this song is awesome and that rap sucks, and to say they are facts is just lol. both this song, and many rap songs take an extraordinary amount of creativity, and skill to create. josh ritter is one of the greatest song-writers of our time. his music is amazing. but you sound just as ignorant as the ppl you claim make shitty music.

learn to appreciate not only the music that you enjoy, but other forms you may not enjoy but you have to at least respect.

99% of rap doesn't take an extraordinary amount of creativity at all; I can string together the a few words about drugs, bitches and bragging about my gold watch and car. Hell, comercial rap isn't even written by the performer.

Rap and RNB is as shallow as a glass of water, completely lacking any depth at all.

don't know why everyone feels the need to compare him to anyone- dylan, springsteen, cohen, whoever- nothing exists in a vacuum, obviously Josh has heard all of these artists and at some level been influenced. What's important, I think, is how he's revitalizing and envigorating the whole genre, whether you want to call it folk, singer songwriter, or cosmic american music- who cares how you label it. josh is brilliant, and I'm not alone in expressing this opinion. WOW -come back to Saskatoon!

I remember my sister placed this song on a slide show that consisted of pictures of my childhood for me at my high school graduation way back in 2004. I cried, it was so perfect. Josh Ritter will forever and always be my number one artist. Can't wait for that new album of his!!
