you do use a raw egg to make cowboy coffee. either that or cold water to cause the coffee grounds to sink to the bottom. I have found the cold water method works best but the egg works also.

actually all you have to do is take the pot off when the water boils, put your coffee grounds right on top of the water, let sit for a few minutes and add about a cup or two of cold water, It will sink the ground to the bottom. pour carefully.

That's hilarious. I didn't know other people did it that way too. I used my sock as a filter in a chili can. Slowly ran the hot water through it as if it were a Melitta system. Highly acidic. Yum! (stomach ulcer notwithstanding)
