I'm no fan of Sean Penn's politics, but he stands alone in his ability as an actor, and he was unbelievably good in this film. He is a brilliant actor, and certainly deserved the Oscar. I loved his comment in his acceptance speech that he absolutely understands how difficult he makes it to appreciate him. Ain't that the truth.

But what a peformance. And Emile's, and Franco's, and Diego Luna's, and Brolin's...all of them were perfection.

Emile Hirsche is absolutely amazing in this movie! Emile Hirsche and Sean Penn were mesmerizing. Can't take your eyes of them for a second, they are so good in this. They should both be nominated and both win Oscars for their performances in this movie, and if they don't, there is something seriously amiss in Hollywood. Awesome. Diego Luna was good too.

I adore this movie because of its basic message of equal rights. So many have forgotten (and some never cared to know at all) the true meaning of Harvey Milk's message. I was in SF in the 1970's & wish I'd gone over to 575 Castro St and met this amazing man. His friends such as Cleve Jones and Anne K. are so honored to have known him and so grateful for his influence on their lives. He was a blessing to many.

This movie was everything. Brilliant / funny / touching / uplifting / haunting...yes its even haunting.

there is a scene where Harvey Milk notices someone pull up behind him and step out of the car..the man starts to walk towards him and MILK gets paranoid. the score in the scene is SO CREEPY, and theres no editing so its an uncut scene of Sean Penn at his absolute best.

he played it so well it even sent chills up my spine the 3rd time seeing it.
