  • The Walmart! Hahaha..yes

  • oh shit that sounds like me.

  • I am from south-west Indiana, and I do not talk like that, ever. I tend to talk more southern than in regular American English. Instead of saying "Have you sold your guy's house yet?", I would say "Have ya'll sold your house yet?" I would never ask "How's come?" I have never heard anyone born in Indiana talk like those women, especially the blonde.

  • Ma'am, I have no idea where in Indiana you are from, but I would certainly like to find out so I can make sure and not visit. These two sound like retards.

  • I'm guilty of all of this...

  • Lol I'm from Indiana and NOBODY says that

  • lol have you sold your house yet, how come? Maybe because we are sitting in it right now.

  • James Dean was from Indiana,so I love anyone from there

  • I live in [central] Indiana, I hate corn, and I don't talk like that. I've only ever said Meijer, not Meijer's, I'v'e said Walmart, not Walmart's... etc.ALTHOUGH... I say "guys's" a lot, lol. I have never said "How's come" though xD only "How Come" This is wrong, mostly. We don't use THAT MANY s's...

  • oh god. i live in indianapolis and the way they are talking is uneducated, and none of the people who i associate with talk like this...

  • I live in Indianapolis, Indiana and I Hate corn, have never said something as stupid sounding as alls I know or how's come...um who says that stuff AND I have never in my life heard anyone in Indiana talk about a tractor

  • How about I'm from Northern Indiana too, and I never use that many extra 's in a conversation. That sounds totally stupid to me. We do say Meijer's, but I would never say "All I knows" or "How's come".

  • "How's come?"

Open your mouth and I'll show you.

  • I've met people from northern Indiana and when they say I have an accent and ask me where i'm from and I tell them I'm also from Indiana they can't believe it. They say I sound like I'm from the deep south. In which case I say close. Basically I consider everything south of Indianapolis and Bloomington the start of the deep south. There's not much difference in dialect and culture between here and Mississippi or Alabama. People from N.Indiana consider us country, and country im proud to be.

  • I have lived in southern Indiana my whole life, about 15 minutes from downtown Louisville, Ky. It's amazing how many different regional dialects can be found throughout the state. Indiana could be divided into 3 states with 3 totally different cultures and dialects. First is the north, northwest with Chicago being the main influence. Then central to south-west with Indianapolis influences. And finally the south heavily influenceed by Louisville.

  • I just realized that I do indeed say "How's come?" Representing east central Indiana.

  • Lmfao! The president of our organization does this, we all make fun of it, YES!

  • Nobody says "how's come" or "all's I know". And no, we don't talk about corn and tractors all the time.

  • Dude, that's ridiculous. My freakin favorite food is pasta, by the way. Born and raised in South Bend!!

  • I live in southern Indiana and I NEVER say how's come!

  • Not everyone from Indiana likes fucking corn!

  • I assume almost all the people actually watching this already live in Indiana. Including me.

  • Out of all the pictures you could've used for Michael Jackson, you use THAT one???? 0:09

  • Born and raised in Indiana. I eat corn. (Corn is real tasty). I add S's to everything and I hear LOTS of other people do it too...no, not everyone in IN does, but a good majority does. Guess I'm a stereotypical hoosier :P

  • i'm from indiana..... and to all the ppl who say "we never talk like that" no not everyone talks like that... but yes... absolutely. all the things i've heard on this series of vids i have heard said in this state somewhere along the line.

  • This video made me giggle. It's so exaggerated xD

  • Nobody's favorite food is corn. Corn is what you eat when you killed all the animals in your general area.

  • I am a proud Hoosier and loved the video! The thing about stereotypes is ... that there is always a kernel of truth to it. In this case, there´s more than a kernel -- there´s a whole cobful!

  • It depends on where in Indiana ... Northern Indiana accents sound very different from parts of more southern Indiana such as Lawrence County.

  • Lol what the hell im from indiana and NO ONE speaks like like.

  • Half the shit in this video is bullcrap... we don't do that in Carmel LUL

  • i like turtlez

  • She makes us sound so stupid...

  • "Allsyou need to know" lol

  • I am a Hoosier and i hate corn :/

  • This all sounds so normal to me XD

  • Theres a pub on the river in Evansville called "RiRa" and I've never ever heard anyone pronounce it correctly. It's always "RiRa's".

  • @Jcbgrvs i live in evansville and i've never heard of it.....

  • Ok, so I was raised in Muncie, currently live in central Indiana, Before I get too critical, I do accept the adding an 'S to the end of store names. Like Marsh's, Meijer's, Ross's (now defunct)...but that does not mean you add an 'S to every proper noun. Geesh! Real Hoosiers my a**. If they really wanted to capture the Hoosier dialect they should have gone to restaurants or asked to sit down with some real families in their homes over dinner and a game of eucre. Good for some laughs I suppose.

  • I really didnt know we had a big accent

  • Haha, I'm from Indiana and I speak like every other American with the General American accent, but it's true some of us do speak in a fucked up way (Southern drawl, constant use of 's', 'ah' instead of 'I', 'a' as in 'dad' instead of 'eh' as in let). Also, we don't talk about corn THAT much!

  • @MrFfuckUp And we don't always live next to cornfields or tractors!

  • @MrFfuckUp

    omg and the "warsh"

like they got it from those damn people from Kentucky *Shakes fist*

  • @animegirl506 Oh god, I know! And replacing "idea" with "ideal" and vice versa, and saying "Benjermin" instead of "Benjamin"! It's fucked up since my brother mom display all these aspects within their speech, it's so god damn annoying!!

  • @animegirl506 Oh, and the absence of "l' and thus saying "code" instead of "cold" and "toad" (or 'tone") instead of "told" and saying things such as : "I done tone him to come over here!"

  • @MrFfuckUp hahah I know! so messed up

and I don't know where this came from but instead of "creek" it is "crick" WHAT IS THAT??? haha

and my grandma (who is from Alabama but lived in Ohio for a great amount of time) says It-lay instead of Italy (I-tah-lee)

  • @animegirl506 My mom actually says "he don't" and "we doesn't"...

  • Thank you for the humor- so fun.

  • ANDCORN IS MOST DEFFINATLY NOT OUR FAVORITE FOOD!!!! IT IS FREAKING EVERY WHERE HERE!!!

  • Ummmm I have lived here all my life, and I don't say "Prye" I say "Probly"

  • @bugboy992 thats funny, i find myself saying "probly" and "proly"

  • This is awful. I'm a Hoosier and I do not speak in this way. This is more indicative of southern states like Tennessee or Georgia.

  • I'm from Indiana and I don't talk about corn, and I read the word as it is read; I don't add an 'S.

  • I'm from Indiana, and I definitely don't talk about corn this often.

  • This is ridiculous BULLSHIZZEM! I am from N. Indiana and have NEVER heard anyone speak like that before ...we don't say "How's" or "Alls" <-- I hear those way more in TN.

  • @Skabur123 It is bull. I'm from Indiana too, I speak true Hoosier, and i don't speak like that. I was born and raised there. I don't hear anything like that either....I don't hear "How's" or "Alls" i hear more "Yinz" or "Aint"

  • @twilightstarism I do notice;however, that people around he do say "Meijers"

  • Comment removed

  • Hehe. I know this by heart. >.> From Indiana.

  • This video definitely highlights the accents of Northern Hoosiers, but Southern Hoosiers have a much more typically Southern accent.

  • I really need to thank Dan for this. This is amazing. Hahahah

  • you are a dumbass. lived in indiana my whole life and have been all around indiana and no one talks like this. you're probably from illinois.

  • @crazykid1094

Do you pronounce the 'S' in Illinois?

  • im from northern indiana and haven't heard anyone say "how's" .... ? whered this chick go to elementary?

  • That's kinda offensive. Why the hell do you stereotype that we don't have proper grammar and we love corn??! Who said anything about corn? Do you think that we grow corn cause we love it? No! We grow it cause it sells!

  • I think these videos need to be renamed "How to Speak Northern Hoosier" cause I was born and raised in southern Indiana and have never heard anybody speak like they do in these videos. I've only had one friend from college who sounded similar. She was from Indy, but she also had a lot of family from Minnesota.

  • @Bubbless4444

I live in Northern Indiana, and I've NEVER heard someone speak like that. Lol.

  • @twilight4evr7 you prolly speak like that and your just accustomed to hearing it so it's no different to you

  • @freeradke

Actually, I don't. I went to a family reunion, and it was hilarious because all of my grandmother's siblings and their kids all spoke like that. I noticed it within 5 minutes of getting there.

  • I'm from Indiana, and when I moved down here to Louisiana, I was told, "Yew sound like a yank!" 8D

  • I kind of noticed that, I'm from upper michigan so I have a northern accent kind of like minnesota but its called a yooper accent but live in indiana

  • im from texas but i live in Indiana, and i have a friend who even says "mines,"

as in "mines has a scratch on it"

  • This is Minnesota, not Indiana.

  • @shawnk1210 are you fucking retarded?

  • Indiana lovely state? I live here AND THIS SHIT SUCKS CORN AND COMBINES AWHHH YAHHHHHHHHHH

  • @LetsStartARiotJordan i live in indiana to embrace your surrondings

  • One thing we do NOT do is speak with that stupid Minnesotan accent. No one in Indiana says "wanna come with". I have a sister in Minnesota and this is common place there. If anyone in Indiana is saying it, it has to be a northern thing. This didn't sound at all Indiana to me. Except for the Meijer's and Kroger's. I can't believe they didn't mention the one I hear the most which is ending Illinois with the ending "s" sound.

  • We do like our Ss :)

  • Yeah, lived in Indiana all my life & I totally talk like this! Hahaha! Oh, & yeah I do love corn & obsessed with finding it on the cob in the summer! I'm not kidding either! I fit the Hoosier stereotype to a T expect the hick part!

  • If'n y'all cain't laff at y'self, then go home!

  • Omg! I was born and raised here and i can honestly say I've NEVER made a special trip for corn.... I eat as much corn as some one from the west coast. Also, the only people I know that say supper are senior citizens. This is not how the majority of us Hoosiers speak. I'm actually kind of offended...

  • I think this is more northern Indiana than middle or southern indiana. I'm from the northern parts and I find almost nothing different from the way I speak from the way the people on this video speak.

  • guys this is just a joke... hopefully.

  • indiana sucks!!

  • is alsos like cornmart's and corn supplies and more's ands i like alls the corns in the indianas

  • i am from indiana and i bathe in corn syrup every day

i will name my son corn

  • Except for adding S's at tha ends on names like meijer and tractor supply we dont talk like that

  • hows come!? really thats giving us hoosiers a bad rep.. and corn.. ahh Really. and know's. seriously come on.. I don't even think you were even raised in Indiana..

  • Interesting. It almost sounds kind of like a hick language. I lived in Indiana for 4 years (in Crown Point for bible college) and I must have picked it up from the staff at the college. Strange. I don't know if Southern California has an accent (were I'm from and I'm here now), but I was recently told from a couple that I sound like I'm from Hammond IN. The last time I was in IN was in 2001!! It has been 10 years and I still have this accent? I will make sure to not use those 's.

  • What is it with people who assume their way of talking exemplifies an entire state? You're a couple of people from the sticks. There's nothing wrong with the way you talk, but don't assume you speak for all of Indiana. I'm from Fort Wayne, not far from Angola, and I have never heard "how's come" or, shudder, "all's I knows's."

  • i'm from indiana and i dont talk like that but then again im from northwest indiana

  • @audreerocks, I know I never talked like that before when I was there in Northwest IN.

  • I HATE CORN!!!!! This is stereotyping hoosiers

  • @BudDiez4, I didn't even know that Hoosiers "like corn" (didn't know the state was known for corn) when I was there. Good thing I didn't even eat or talk a lot about it

  • I'm from Richmond. I've definitely heard a ton of people do this including myself, just no as exaggerated as they make it in the video.

  • My family's from Evansville. They sound much more southern.

  • I am from a Kentucky city just across from Indiana, and I DO say "you guys's", "all's you/I have to do", and say business names such as "Ruby Tuesday's". I wonder though, what about "You all's"? Because I do say that sometimes.

  • that redhead has more of a dakota accent...

  • Then again, how else would a person indicate that they are talking about something that belongs to "you guys" if not "you guys's"? I guess I'm a dyed in the wool Hoosier.

  • This is great! I also didn't think I had an accent until I moved away from Indiana 28 years ago. Yes, the "add an S" thing is overdone in the video, but basically true. Come on, you's guys! You know it's true. Why did I move to Utah? Because this is all the farther I could get. Yup, I still got it!

  • really? REALLY? my favorite food is definetley NOT CORN just because i LIVE in indiana and who the heck says "how's come?" or "alls i knows is" what the- who actually talks like that?! this is insulting.

  • Oh crud I say "you guys's" D:

  • Basketball wasn't invented in Indiana... it was invented by a Canadian in Massachusetts

  • I am a hoosier....I do not think we have an accent...

  • -also the redhead's accent reminds me of a minnesotan--but that may be because i'm from indianapolis and am used to hearing that tv-caster indiana accent moreso than more rural areas

  • hahaha at first I was thinking--i don't talk like that and I'm a hoosier...but when you broke it down i realized that everything does end in s, lol....meijer's-how's-all's...it was a little overdone in the video [ive never heard anyone say *all's i know's is*] -for me-in any given sentence there is only one instance of an additional s...one thing i do is turn things into conjunctions which ends up adding yet another s to the mix...there's/where's/here's/their's--great videos!!

  • Ok, I'm uhh... Indianian, and I've never said all's or know's. My friend says all's, but she's from New York so I thought everyone said that. Oh yeah: I freaking HATE corn...

  • ROTFL - we invented Michael Jackson!

  • I'm from Indianapolis; no one here talks like that, at all. Way to accurately depict stereotypes!

By the way, the corn thing got old decades ago.

  • @mrrobinzine maybe it's because we're from the city---once outside of indianapolis there are a lot more variations on the hoosier accent...just go to new pal or greenwood and there are differences in the way they speak as opposed to how we speak in the city limits-i've noticed a slightly more southern pattern of speech

  • They do not sound like any Hoosier I've ever met. And I am one.

  • XD Ugly accents XDDDD

  • "all's I know" and "how's come"---not so much. I don't think I've ever said that unless I was playing around. But, "guys's" and adding " 's " onto the end of store names: definitely! And LOL the whole corn scenario! I only eat corn about once a month -Katie

  • im from indiana,

and yeah i totally sit around and chuck corn all day...

  • there real life conversation between hoosiers is SO fake

  • Living right in central Indiana I have to say that the "Hoosier" accent is really our Southern accent... The rest of our state has no accent unless you live right up in Chicago. So this really is our "state accent" if you drive around and listen since you either hear this, or no accent at all. I've been a native since I was born 20 years ago, and it's been this way all my life.

  • @flyer280 I have to agree. I live in "The Region" NW Indiana 35min from downtown, but I travel all over the state. This is more of a Jasper and Newton county accent. If you live in Lake or Porter county you have a southside accent and people think you live in Chicago. Da Bears Da Bulls accent if you know what I mean. If you go down to Terre' Haute in Vigo count it's about right there that you start to notice a distinct Kentucky creeping into local dialect.

  • @flyer280 Everyone has an accent. ;)

  • The red head sounds Canadian. I'm from Muncie we don't have accents. At all.

The store's thing was true. Meijer's I say that instead of Meijer. and Ruby Tuesday's instead of Ruby Tuesday. Omg.

  • @ATLTH Yes you do! It's narcissistic to think that everyone else in the world has an accent except you. I was born and raised in the Hammond area, and didn't realize that it was me with the accent until I moved away.

  • @ATLTH well dude you sure have an accent, if it's not hoosier at least it's American xD

  • haha, the Michael Jackson slide really cracks me up.

  • Haha no one in Indiana sounds like this. It must be you. You really should get some grammar lessons.

  • sounded like the blond said "porn for supper"!

  • @bub777 haha, I found that bit funny. Pretty funny how the redhead sneered at the fact that it came from Ohio. LOL!

  • I'm from Indiana and I don't say "Hows come". That seemed fake.

  • are you serious? comeon i live in anderson and i do think i hear anyone add 's to everything.

i was born in this state, lived here the majority of my life and when i travel to other states people seem to think im a new yorker

  • I am a hoosier and I have never said "all's"

  • i guess i don't have and indiana accent after all. except....i live in indiana :)

  • I've lived in Northern Indiana all my life, and this video is very entertaining. =) I do have to say though that I have never once said "how's come", "all's I know's" or "how's about". lol!

  • This isn't really a video on how to speak Hoosier. I don't think these women can vouch for the entire state. Maybe from where they're from?... But I'm from Mooresville, and my husband is from Martinsville [born and raised!] and there are only a few people we both know that talk like this, and they learned from their oh-so-hick grandparents. Most everyone else talks pretty normal...

  • Lmfao this is hilarious. And yes, I am a Hoosier.

  • Yeah we don't add S's to EVERYTHING. What the hell? Lol.

  • I never even realized that we Hoosiers add "s's". I never even knew! haha

  • half is right and half is wrong. first of all we dont say HOW'S or ALL'S. you will just sound dumb. i live in indianapolis and yes we put s' into store names like those two meijer's and ruby tuesday's. i just cant help not saying that. Most of this stuff is just stereotypes. at first i didnt realize we had a dialect but now its obvious.

  • @ulaanbattar yep lol Meijer's. Certain stores need a possessive 's to dictate that they are selling or possessing the goods stored inside them. It's the same way people in California add a "the" in front of everything.

  • Comment removed

  • btw southern hoosiers like from evnasville have a lil different accent than the rest of indiana..

  • Being from where this video was made, I have to be honest and say that they're spot on. Every possible store ends in S.

  • There are a lot of inaccuracies in this. Not many people say "Hows about," and the corn joke is sooo overrated.

  • I've never in my life said "hows' about" but their actual accent sounds right.

  • corn is ok but its not my favorite food...who the fuck do you think you are?

  • Honestly. I think these people are from St. Louis.

  • These women do not sound like their from Indiana. The dark haired one sounds more Minnesota than Hoosier. "Oh yeah? You betcha."

  • Ok they're sort of right about the 's but DO NOT say "all's I know is". You will sound like an idiot. But it is true about the store names. I have always said "Meijer's".

Also, seriously, just because we grow corn doesn't mean we're all about eating it 24/7.

  • LOL!!!! That is too funny! Yeah I know people who talk like that. Hhaha!

  • Wow this video is a fail.

  • thanks for inventing Michael Jackson, Indiana! :D

  • Is this video a joke?

  • i have a friend from indiana and she sounds nothing like that!

  • ugly accents? what?

  • Indiana gave us Michael Jackson ^^

  • wait wtf... i dont speak like this and either do my friends... how abouts the corns? lol yeahhh riteee all's i know is?? no dude

  • Okay, I know that picture of the Weber's barn is from Angola, Indiana. I was born and raised there and went to school with one of Weber's. Not sure about the rest of the pictures, but I think all the rest of those pictures are from Angola as well.

  • Busted! :) These were, in fact, all filmed in Angola. I went to school with the Webers as well and to this day think their corn is the best. And for the record, everyone in these videos is a born Hoosier...

  • @jimmihshs idk, the black squirrels might have been filmed somewhere close to Alexandria and Elwood.

  • Haha I'm from central Indiana (I've lived here all my life) and I have heard some of this. Much of it was from my dad's side of the family, who came from Michigan, so I assumed it was Northern-Midwestern thing. Now episode 3 (vocab)? Guilty as charged--at least for half of it.

  • You HAVE to be kidding! I've lived in Indiana my ENTIRE life! We DO NOT use "'s " like that, let alone that much! Corn IS NOT our favorite food (seriously!). Every place DOES NOT end in "s" "even if it doesn't"! And DON'T "repeat after Rachel! No one says "all's I know's" that is just dumb! I can't believe this video...

  • agreed

  • indiana is so boring kinda like wisconsin illinois roxs

  • Aww the best gift Indiana has Givin us is MJ .. truley thee best gift ever

    thank you <3<3

    may he R.I.P

  • This is incendiary. I am really upset at the moment. How ridiculous is this? I've lived in Indianapolis for the entire longevity of my lifespan and I've never spoken in the same demeanor she implies that I do. I am appalled and really don't appreciate the stereotype. "How's about some corn?!?" I am sick to my stomach. I don't even enjoy corn to the extent that, according to this shrew, I am supposed to. I don't ever want to see something this inflaming again.

  • I live in Indianapolis also, I hate this, but goddamn calm your ass down.

Oh, hey. It's been five months. You're probably over it by now.

  • @sbennett14 How's about you lighten up!

  • @sbennett14 This is terrible. We do NOT talk like this.

  • @sbennett14 are you KIDDING ME?! You are actually offended by this? Indy is not rural and therefore does not have the same dialect as a rural area. I just think it's so stupid to be offended...you must have a corn cob stuck up your ass.

  • @sbennett14 are you KIDDING ME?! You are actually offended by this? Indy is not rural and therefore does not have the same dialect as a rural area. I just think it's so stupid to be offended...you must have a corn cob stuck up your butt.

  • @sbennett14 Thank you! I agree. I'm from Terre Haute...born and raised.

  • @sbennett14 Hi there. Indy native here, too. I don't think this is meant to be taken so seriously. I enjoy corn, but I don't talk about it in everyday conversation. I add the occasional 's to my proper nouns (Meijer's, Kroger's, etc.) but never, ever say "how's" or "know's." I think the entire purpose of this was to take a few stereotypes and parody them.

  • @sbennett14 Hi there. Indy native here, too. I don't think this is meant to be taken so seriously. I enjoy corn, but I don't talk about it in everyday conversation. Well done, especially the Michael Jackson part haha.

  • @sbennett14 I think she got us pretty on the dot about us misusing out S's. But i hate corn, lol and all of my friends aren't corn crazy.
