Foehammer:Thanks so much x sharing this great piece of memorabilia , I'm so happy to see Jaco covered in mud,he was simply unique and a true entertainer he brought fun & humor to a musical genre that falls sometimes into an empty pseudo intellectual status,he was the bad kid,the teatrical rockstar full of dexterity and musicality,he is so much fun to watch & to listen to,that is why he keeps influencing the new generations...
@ChiqueRecords Seeing him here covered in mud makes him look like a tribal character & distinguish him visually from Mark Egan ,useful antics ,love it !!!
seeing jaco like this makes me sad. he was great, even in the 80s. when he was clean was the best time of jaco's career. RIP john francis anthony 'jaco' pastorius III. i imagine him playing bass for all the people in heaven now
Jaco had suffered from a great depression - noone had though about it. They thought it was his image. So he was diagnosred in (i think) 1982. At this time Jaco had gone insane unfortunately.
R.I.P Jaco. Noone will ever be like you. An example noone can live up to.
@cammy874 That's Gil Evans. He had a long line of gifted musicians wanting to work with him and be involved in his music. Can't say the same for your idol Jaco!
I play Trumbone for our school Stage Band, and we are the best school jazz band in our region.
We play this, really love this, but no offence but to me this particular performance seemed a little lacked... trumpets were really out of time, no range, and really slow (we play much faster) i donno, this song is much better played fast
Ya. i play trombone in my schools jazz band as well. we've won all but 2 competitions for the past 20 years in New England. We play it this speed, much more funky. When you finally understand funk THEN you can talk.
@Zaul2410 Apparently went sliding down a muddy hillside after a rain...I believe thats what his bio says. Great book, but a very sad ending for such a brilliant mind.
I don't know what the fuck's up w/Jaco--all covered in mud. Jaco still makes me smile and cry at the same time. Goaddamn--he was so special, and just such a tragic figure. Is that Mark Egan on the other bass?
he was hittin the drugs pretty hard and was living on the streets. at one point he was litteraly sitting on a street corner playing birdland out a boombox say to people that that was him and that they should give him money. its so depressing.
jaco is outstanding as ever, but the soloist just suck so bad, wtf this is not some hard bop, just simple fusion, they're playing like they're in the miles davis 2nd quintet or something lol, too much.
All the other trumpet players are doing a shitty job except for that black guy in the green shirt. Listen to all the clams (wrong notes and bad sounds from trumpets) in the beggining!
