I feel Radiohead performs Ceremony better and truer than New Order. Thom just does sad really well, given the nature of a lot of Radiohead songs. I think he just has a thing for writing and covering songs about suicide... but Thom seems preoccupied with water suicide. Listen to Weird Fishes and Pyramid Song and you'll see what I mean. lol
why cant we just like em all? I like Joy Divisions even though its a poor recording, I think New Orders version is amazing, and Radiohead is one of the few bands who id want to hear cover joy division and they didnt disappoint.
I totally agree with your point. This is one of the best JD covers, but it wasn't Ian's last song. 'Touching from a distance' is a great read and has a great section of lyrics at the back.
harrybaules is an idiot. now think about this, he'll probably never read this comment UNLESS he comes back to watch/hear this again, proving he somewhat likes this song. that would disaaprove his old comment. let's see what happens ;)
it´s poetry? and the lyrics is out of this world! the lyric gives different meaning depending on who you are and what is going on in our life at the moment!
"nonsense, jibberish, pasted together garbage. what does it all mean" can be said about some of the greatest works of poetry in the english language. just because you dont understand it doesn't mean its garbage. kindve narrow minded
@AlternativeUses Good point there in the beginning. Well said. Glad you didn't take it personally like others. So I will expand on my earlier comment. I have always loved this song. The New Order version is my favorite. Didn't like JD's version as much. I'm one to pay more attention to the beat than the lyrics. That's just ME. So honestly the first time I read the entire lyrics was in this post. And I was thinking to myself how ironic that I love the song but hate the lyrics.
@harrybaules Well, it's not my fault you don't know how to express what you really want to say...I didn't take it personally, I love Joy Division lyrics, if you don't it's not my problem and I respect that, simply.
I like your video.

"Ceremony" by Joy Division/New Order is one of my favorite songs, and I think Radiohead did an excellent job covering it.

I wonder if Coldplay would do a cover of New Order`s "Vanishing Point"?

I'm with StrokedGT - great song, great cover - New Order's version is the best - Joy Division original is not good quality audio.
Ian Curtis is still the best though! :)

This is the only good cover of a Joy Division I know. Remember Paul Young, Grace Jones and so on. But this one is great.

Arguably some of the worst lyrics ever. It's a bunch of nonsense, jibberish, pasted together garbage. Honestly what does it all mean?
