  • I have a question...When I recorded, I didn't know about recording everything to the same rhythm, so pasting the same numbers into everything obviously doesn't work for me. But say I oto'd the first part of 'abibubebo' to get 'a bi'. Is there anyway I could copy those numbers and replace just the stuff from 'abibubebo'? Does that make sense? ^^;

  • @Raiyux Eh, no, I don't understand so well. VCV is troublesome because it's always difficult to explain.

I recommend finding one of your faster samples with the longest consonant, and using the numbers from that in much the same way I did in this video, really. I don't really understand the problem you're having so sorry if you already tried that or something OTL

  • @Raiyux There is a duplicate button which makes a new oto keeping the same settings/aliases/etc and then you can just edit them manually to fit the second 'i bu' sample.

  • @AdventRai Wish I had known that earlier. Thanks, Rai. XD

  • You're Australian!? ;D

    I love your accent!~

  • By the way, I record with Audacity, not OREMO. How do I do this if I record with Audacity?

  • @evilpolarbear7 ...This doesn't say anything about recording, does it? It's exactly the same... Not that I'm very helpful in this video. I need to make a new one OTL

  • My screensaver is creepy! *shudder* BEN... Why did I pause the video to read a magazine?

  • For some reason, my oto file refuses to save...

  • Ok, i thought i was getting the hang of all of this, but now I'm confused. I'm planning on doing an english bank (That's my focus because i should be able to do the japanese without much struggle) and i thought i should record samples like... CV, VC, (V)CV, C, V.... laptop dying. bye

  • @BlackOakStudios ...Sorry your laptop died, I can't answer your question because you never finished it... OTL

  • @haloheroine For my english bank, the plan was to have the following sample types.

    CV, VC, (V)CV, C, and V

For my (V)CV samples, a little of the last vowel is in the sample... like (a)KA, you'd hear aKAAA.

    Am i doing it wrong?

  • @BlackOakStudios ...No. How did you get that XD if there wasn't a vowel, it'd just be VC.

The point of it is to have the first vowel part to be a smooth transition to the CV part, the CV part is still the main part to be played. So don't worry, you're doing it right.

  • @haloheroine Thank you :) So the VCV plug-in isn't really necessary is it? I don't use it and things seem to sound right together, i blend the vowel sounds like KA+aT = KAT. My only problem is sometimes the vowel cuts of a consonant of a previous or following note, depending on what type of sample it is. Like I intend to make CAT, but you hear CAA, or i intend ALONE, and you hear AONE. I'm assuming that's just an error with my otoing though.

  • @BlackOakStudios VCV plugin just turns hiragana USTs into VCV usts, and even then it only changes the lyrics.

    And yes, that's you otoing oddly. e ve;;;

  • @haloheroine Ah. Thank you. I'm working on my OTOs right now, sounding much better. Not perfect, but better.

  • @BlackOakStudios that happens if the vowel you have before the consonant in the sample was too long

  • @TheSnowSongstress Well, actually, though it can cause bugs sometimes, the previous vowel can be as long as you want as long as the preutterance is between the consonant and vowel.

  • You have an accent <3

    AND PRONOUNCE UTAU CORRECTLY ;DD

  • @TsuyoikoeKaika uu taaaah uuuuuuu. XDDD lol

  • @haloheroine YES :DD

  • i can't copy otos from other vcvs because my computer can't read hiragana. I don't understand some parts of the tutorial. I am so doomed DX

  • @sofitssofi No, it's okay, I'm bad at video tutorials XD

with romaji VCV reclists... There should be at least one other person who's used it, right? So find out who that is, and copy their aliases (you'll have to find/replace every number in that oto with a space or nothing though). All else fails, just do the aliases by hand, that's the only reason you should copy an oto file anyway.

What else were you confused with?

  • @haloheroine about the tutorial i was confused with how to separate thenotes. one other person asked. But thanks for telling me for the alias

  • @sofitssofi Ah, no problem. You other question as answered then?

  • Okay, I'm still pretty confused...

What I'd like to know is how you seperate the string of notes.

Like, when you record a VCV, you usually record about 5 or 7 notes in a row or whatever.

    When otoing, how do you seperate those notes? Do you have to copy each file and like, make 5 or 7 copies of that same file? Because I heard if you have over 1000 notes, it'll make UTAU really laggy. ;n;

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm just really confused...

  • @ChefMae387 It's kinda silly, but I know I was confused about that for a while, so it's good to ask.

Did you know you can copy otos and make a bunch for the same file? You can on call them separately using different aliases.

So, you have one file, but 5-8 otos for it. c:

This way, UTAU only needs to load more characters in the text file, rather than more WAVs.

So just right click the note you want to copy, and press "paste (or P if you don't use the translation patch)"!

  • @haloheroine Okay, do I do that in the oto text file, or the Voice Configurations box? Because the Voice Configurations box doesn't have a copy thing, so I figured the oto text file, but I just wanted to make sure.

Sorry, I don't know much about VCVs. xC

  • @ChefMae387 It's fine!

In the configuration box is good, you don't copy, but you just press paste and it will duplicate whatever's selected. c:

But the Text file works too.

  • @haloheroine Thank you so much for all the help, but I have another question, if it's okay. D:

My friend isn't very good at UTAU, and she wanted me to help her with VCV(even though I don't understand much myself xD), but I THINK she accidently recorded a Lite list. (Lite lists are the ones that only start with vowels, I think...?). Is otoing a Lite list the same as otoing a standalone VCV? Because I don't think she'd be very happy with me if I said she had to rerecord. :C

  • @ChefMae387 Ah, ick. Lite lists are okay... And to answer your question, they're oto'd really similar, though because they're smaller lists you don't need to be so strict on the Uniform otoing... But i would suggest finding the extension Lite list so you can have "n CV" samples, because that's the main thing Lite lists cut out. *nod*. I know Sora Suiga uses one, so it exists, but I have no clue where to get it... ;;;

  • what's that screen recorder?

also, you should mention that there's an easy way to make the aliases for hiragana vb's with setparam automatically.

  • @nils8950UTAUACC

It's BB Flashback Pro Screen Recorder/Player.

And I didn't know that lol. Care to explain?

  • @haloheroine ok. first of all, download setparam. (comes with oremo) open it. 3 windows pop up. in the one that says "browse for folder", choose your utaus voice sample folder. it asks you if you want to choose an existing parameter file(oto.ini) click generate parameters automatically. choose VCV. choose your standard parameters (the ones you used for every sample in that video) and click ok. now it will do the aliases itself. (this only works with hiragana.)
  • @nils8950UTAUACC Ah, awesome. Okay, that works too. XD Thank you!

  • your accent is amazing, I love it XD;

and thank you for this tutorial, it was very helpful! :D

  • @lazerwolf96

xD Theres still stuff I missed here lol. If you need anymore help or refining, Feel free to contact me. But I'm glad it helped you a bit ; w;/

  • i hate mi vcv it suck's u.u good tutorial :D!

  • Sorry for the late reply ^^; I really don't mind what bank I use :3 as long as it is in Romaji *hug* Thankyou so much

  • @ArtictheSnowWolf

Hm, just worth mentioning, I think the Taya romaji is missing a few files... possibly just one. But I tried my best to keep it correct, so here: 4shared.com/document/NQWVned9/reclist-taya-romaji-renzoku.html

I believe this is a good list to start out on. *nod*

  • I really like your voice!! ;//; It's very easy to listen to.

  • @Etsuuko ; w;;; Thank you~

  • I feel like a light has gone off, watching this. I've always been a visual learner, but with VCV, I definitely needed a visual AND auditory explanation. So, thanks for this video! ^ ^

  • @Flashcat911 I'm glad it helped you!

    c:

  • Not to be a creeper or anything of the sort, but I love your accent...

    :3

  • @Synthaem

    xD Thanks.

  • YOU ARE AMAZING .A. I can't even figure out VCV I want to do it so bad ;A; I can't even find a recording list D; and that's because I fail -3- anyway I think this tutorial will help me once I get the list for VCV ^^

  • @ArtictheSnowWolf

I have links to a few Reclists, what one would you want?

Full lists I can provide - Ritsu Namine's 7-mora (hiragana or romaji), Soune Taya's 5-mora (hiragana, romaji).

    Both are good!

  • Please excuse the argument on this video. I have no comment.

  • Halo I suggest you block Ms.flushne (toilet sound) ;D

seriously delete all her messages and block her. She is NOT IN ANY WAY worth your time :D

  • @inutomboyo15

No. I don't do that, man.

OTL I'd feel like a butthurt retard; besides, I may as well leave this assholery up. It's a good example of why I have trouble dealing with her.

  • Furthermore, your idea of deleting all of Ritsu's settings is completely stupid. Okay, Ritsu's settings are basically as uniform as you can get (and it's pretty much correct). All I do when I take a Japanese OTO is add decimals to overlap to track my progress and then I Edit. Furthermore, 13:50. If the green can't fit onto the vowel because the voicer recorded improperly, you should pull red out so that green /can/ fit.

  • @annamaeblythe aww no body loves you everybody hates you guess you'll just troll a shitton XDD you fail, epicly. Go sit on your dads lap and take one you psychotic b*tch. no one likes you.

And how cliche, everyone knew you were gonna get all assrape butthurt and message on this video. Go to hell maeblythe, you are SO immature. XD

  • @inutomboyo15 Aww :3 You think you're good at what you do, don't you?

  • @annamaeblythe not necessarily... but if I'm good at knowing anything its that your a complete moron. Who has really. NOTHING better to do than troll people about shit you /obviously/ suck at -.-

  • @inutomboyo15 Oh, insults hurt so much more when they come from an illiterate whore.

  • @annamaeblythe XDDDD as if that makes sense you just scold me on insults dont hurt and insult? Since when do you have the right to go onto peoples channels and bully them for what they do. I'm sorry over 90% of the community SO HAS to be doing it wrong...and stupid fushne is SO MUCH BETTER. God you make me sick. And in other news, your absolutely talentless. And you sitting here trying to scold someone who is so /painfully/ better than you, your poor wittle ego is burning. This is why you troll.

  • @inutomboyo15 Are you having trouble proofreading your responses? It's quite hard to make sense of them.

  • @annamaeblythe I know Im having grammar problems. its only because Im squishing everything i want to say in one box. And with you I seriously have a lot to say. And its clearly because you have a tremendous amount of issues. I really could care less anymore. All I know is your a narcissistic troll and really should find something better to do in life than be a total bitch. But I'm sure for you its a full time job kind of thing.

  • @inutomboyo15 At least I passed my English classes <3

  • @annamaeblythe at least i graduated :D lol good for you and your english class. XD wow I'm done here. lol

  • I just skipped through most of it. But, hun, you don't really get the point. You look like you're BSing most of the line placement. And as for vowels, going quickly into the next but not actually straining like that is better. Yeah, Slur = bad. Strain to the point it's almost a consonant = bad. There is an exactness to where the lines need to go if you don't want slurs. But LOL you don't care about that, do you? Furthermore, U-TA-U, not Utaw. (And not Ritsu. It's a Japanese D. Hayao. Not Hayo.)

  • @annamaeblythe

I will admit, I say Hey-ow. Habit dies hard (I've been trying to fix it.

I do say U-TA-U, WTF are you on, and stop being such a bloody troll.

  • @haloheroine Why don't you stop giving people misinformation?

  • @annamaeblythe ...Mae, if you don't want to be called a troll, JUST DON'T ACT LIKE THIS. First thing, I agree with your point about straining. I'm sorry Halo, but straining the vowels is the WORST thing you can do when recording VCV, it can ruin a song. Unless you do it like me, record a set of strained vowels and a set of normal vowels. Okay, now the second point. WHEN SOMEONE IS SAYING SOMETHING WRONG, YOU CORRECT THEM, YOU DONT BASH THEM OR ANYTHING. THAT'S WHY YOU'RE THE UTAU COMMUNITY TROLL

  • @maluquinho5 The fact that you don't actually understand what a troll is is cute.

  • @maluquinho5

    ...*looks over tutorial and comments*

... Ah. Usually I suggest gapped with a set of normal but I didn't here..

    ...

    *feels like idiot*

  • Have you ever used SETPARAM? I don't use it to edit the oto.ini but you can use it to copy the pre-utter and overlap into all the notes (rather than using notepad)

  • YOUR ACCENT IS SO CUTE<33 ;v;

  • @tofutau

    Hee. Thanks XD

  • @haloheroine Welcome darlin~

  • I FINALLY HEAR YOUR VOICE HARDAR FINALLY. It sounds mixed to me XD

  • @PeppermintCereal

    xDDD <333

  • OH MY GAUD! UR ACCENT!!!!!! It sounds so CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Like a...like a...baby still learning how to pronounce engrish :D no offense if that did offend you...BUT ITS SO CUTEEE!!!! Go=Ger.

  • @UtauNegiko

    Pffft; are you American, or...?

  • Dat' Accent.

    XD

Sorry, that was just amazingly cute. Love the tutorial, i might try to re-edit Ama's oto's now. If you don't mind, could I make a request that would help me? Because well..my pronounciation sucks, and it really makes Amagaku's voice sound kind of nasily, bad, etc. any tips in that area?

  • @TheUTAUmania

    Haha XD Thanks.

As for Ama's voice, work really hard on your pronunciation... for Hayao I copied Male vocalists I was a fan of, but since Ama is a girl it should be easier for you. In short; learn basic japanese yourself, dear! If you yourself are less nasal, Ama will be too.

But first.. I'd recommend picking out the vowels you think are off, and comparing them to an UTAUloid you like. find out what sounds off, then attempt to fix it. /lame advice

  • @haloheroine no problem :D

hmmm. ok, well I am learning the basics of japanese (mom bought me rosetta stone, and some of my friends speak it, so they're helping me as well) but whenever i speak it, it seems to make my voice more nasily >_< But i like the idea of checking out different UTAU's and other singers is a pretty good idea. Thanks Halo!

  • @TheUTAUmania

Just make sure the vocalists you study are of the voice type you have, or the accent might clash with your voice! XD No problem, I hope it turns out alright.

  • @haloheroine Voice type? Sorry for being soo n00by (yes i did just use 0's for o's)

  • @TheUTAUmania

    Strong, soft, etc.

  • "... should durrr."

    <333 That accent.

    <3333

  • @VocaloidYorune

    <333 to you, too.

  • I did not know that was possible. Always something new to learn about one's own computer. XD But. I'm confused. So Ritsu's configuration, the 450, -600, 300, 100. It's not good for other voicebanks? So I've been doing this whole otoing thing wrong then?! D::::

  • Comment removed

  • @ThatFiddlerOnTheRoof

I ONLY FOUND OUT RECENTLY TOO. I've told so many people that copying Ritsus is perfectly fine, including you. xD Sorry. It's... It's still okay, just not optimised, hon. XD An ear that isn't picky probably won't be able to pick up the difference to fitted and copied, to be honest. And if you recorded around the same tempo as Ritsu (120, I believe) it'll be fine.

  • YOUR FREAKING ACCEEEENNNTTT

    Get in my pocketttt

Also good god finally a tutorial on this poop

  • @Kitkaloid

    ; w; Thanks.

  • this is great

  • @BitoRaimu

    Thanks, dear.

  • <3 Halo sounds so lovely! I love your accent! Great tutorial!

  • @SirYanyu

    Thanks~

  • halo you sound sexy ;3 its an ameriauzzie <3 I like it... <3333333333 I LOVE YOU. YES THATS RIGHT NOW HAVE MY BABIES.... x'D anyways thank you for using koneko...and I love this tutorial <3 your so smart <3

  • @inutomboyo15

    <333 ; u; ilu2 deary.

  • You have an amazing voice and an amazingly noiseless microphone! :OOOO This is a great tutorial! ( ° v°)b

  • @TDRloid

    Haha, thanks XD

    That's my new mic, I love it heaps ; w;

  • Question! The recordings have to be at the same tempo for this to work, right?

  • @xMienaiTsubasa

No. But it helps a hell-load in general. XDD It is possible, if you're adding settings by hand, to have settings for two different tempos. I've done it before-- but generally, you should find the recording with the fastest tempo and use that in place of "a ka".

  • @haloheroine

Ah, okay. I'll attempt to re-oto Rion's voicebank this way, then.. I didn't use a metronome at all though, so even within the recordings the syllables are different lengths and such XP

  • hm ; w ;

Your accent randomly dissappeared and re-appeared again!! XDD whaat~??

This tutorial is pretty useful though :3

  • @Purufufuru LOL SO.

I have an Australian/American accent. A lot of people here say I sounds American, and Americans say I have an Australian accent. I say I swap between. XD

    Thanks~

  • @haloheroine I was thinking maybe you were making fun of Brittish people XDD Bahaha!!!!

    Australian accents ftw :3

  • This is interesting 'cause other tutorials say to have the offset in the middle of the preceding vowel and the overlap just before it cuts out.

  • @aquatius5

Nope. :O Though you could move the offset to wherever (your choice, it may cause glitches on fast songs tho'), the overlap came from Yoru-Ps suggestion and Ritsu. Having the overlap closer to the offset makes it... Well, in my opinion, a little sharper XD It's nice. Offset/overlap positions... well, they're really something you can play with until you get the sound you want.

  • @haloheroine I just experimented with Raru Mine and you're right, it does sound better. You don't get the jerky bits in the vowel.
