  • Bruce Foxton looks like the Paul McCartney of punk!

  • I was lucky enough to see their first concert in the 100 Club in London back in 77 and to see their last concert in Brighton in '83 (at least I think it was classed as the last at the time). I rode down to Brighton from Colchester on my Arthur Francis and met some other kids on the way (just like in Quadrophenia) and had one of the best experiences of my life (apart from the wife leaving me - that was good news ;-) ).

    Long live The Jam.

  • @Maxheadroom64pk Nice one, Unfortunately I was born ten years too late. I loved The Jam at the time, the first record I ever bought was 'Start' when it first came out. Unfortuately I was just a little kid and was too young to go see them. By the time I left school the new bands were The Stone Roses and The Mondays which were great but I wish i'dve been 10 years earlier!!

  • brilliant song, sounded great..thanks for posting..always love this band

  • i thought it was Paul it certainly sounds like him, he did a great job.

It felt like the Jam again.

Miles better than the carp Weller produces now.

  • It may not be the whole three but 2/3 is the best we can hope for to hear the tunes we love played live. I miss the Jam and would love to see Paul Weller realise he should go back to the boys who kick started his career.

  • I agree with ianjrivers ... and they look like they're having as much fun as the audience ...good on 'em

  • its not all about weller

  • its from the jam not the fucking jam get it right ffs

  • Bruce is a god

  • @pawnsacrifice1

    Agree

  • Man... I thought it was Paul for a few mins. I was surprised too! Didn't think he'd do it again. I LOVE him though. But this dude does a great job!

  • I love the Jam. They are my favorite band & have been for decades. In contrast, I can't stand Weller's post-Jam music. The Style Council stuff is simply atrocious. That said, one must respect Weller's decision to musically alter course. It was his right as an artist to do so. At the same time, folks need to respect Bruce Foxton & Rick Buckler for staying the course they chose. I'm glad to see the latter 2 doing what they enjoy with Russel Hastings on board. There's room for both camps.

  • @SunnBurn I totally agree with you on this. The Style Council were absolutely atrocious. Just what was he thinking?

  • Great to see Bruce just enjoying it - good on yer - weller needs to get out of his own backside

  • I'm listening to a Jam playlist while playing poker and popped over to see what this version was because I liked it. Very surprised it wasn't Weller, would love to go and see them next time they are about.

  • @gary6667

I agree, I thought it was Weller until I saw your comment. I'm going to go and see them, too.

  • To be fair none of us really know what happened back then. as for giving them what the fans want, Paul Weller doesn't need to go back to 77. He has evolved and given us all music we love as much today as we did back in those eraly days. Yes I was there from the start in 77 and have had the pleasure of seeing his transformation throughout the years, long may it continue.

  • Well done, chief.

  • that there is a lot of male pattern baldness.

  • saw them in dundee last saturday........an excellent excellent performance.

  • good for bruce and Rick!! Paul Wellers grudge with these guys has been going on for 27 Years now. bit sad really. Anyhow they don't need him anyway and besides they seem to be having a jolly old time. Good on ya lads!

  • still great... shame about paul :/ sort ur head out weller!!! for old times shake!

  • Great stuff, full credit to Russell Hastings for having the bollocks to do what Weller won't and give the folks what they want to hear. Shame PW can't make the peace with Rick and Bruce, after all he still needs a Bass player and a Drummer for his post Jam stuff.

  • Very mixed feelings about this. I was a big Jam fan saw them live etc. and don't like it when bands 'reform'. Should be left where it was, but saying that I must say the Bruce is definitely one of the greatest bassist of all times, and still rocking...

  • could the one singing sound any more like weller

  • if you like this you may like... A Band Called Bert

  • this is kinda wierd. as a big jam fan i find it a bit wierd (and sad) that the 'remaining' two still wanna play these tunes, despite them being fuking great tunes, weller wont speak to them. whats that all about? im not sure i should turn up and support these two amasing musicians or throw rotten eggs at wellers memory???

  • when I heard of 'From The Jam' I thought 'sh*t!' but they're fu**in' doin it!! Good on em

  • Seen the "new" Jam" on numerous occasions now and think that Mr Hastings does a bloody sound job!

Saw them at the Camber scooter rally and to say how they did is that out of 2500 people not one moaned but just paid tributes to them.

Weller is God, but let the rest be they are entertainers and great ones at that.

  • I love Rick and Bruce, Weller is god, but can't have the Jam with any of them missing.

  • Rick Buckler and Bruce Foxton's contribution to the Jam was to make Weller's songs listenable, he was an average guitarist, a shouter singer, but a great songwriter, if he had an average rhythm section in the Jam, he would still be playing the Red Lion pub. He was lucky to have two great musicians with him, wish people would realise that.

  • Fuck me! The Red Lion. Opposite Peckham Nick !

  • @ianjrivers Well said. But we still love mr weller. Correct?

  • @ianjrivers Well said Geezer!!

  • well your only 18 ,so ill let you off , wellers music ,apart from the odd song ,has generally been crap, well may be not crap ,but substandard compared to the jam years ,why sould he ,you say, well why not, as a thankyou to all trhe original jam fans,, nothing wrong with singing his old music, almost every old bannd did and does, more recently ,the police , the original line up of the jam , would out sell any weller concert now,

  • , what was foxtons contibution, great bass playing , he was an original member of the jam,you could say what was john entwhistles contribution to the who,or ronnie lane to the small faces ,moving on and being an artist isnt the be all and end all, look at elvis costello,in the 70s,and him now, shite , look at the specials ,then look at the fun boy 3 ,shite , the specials reformed , the whos still performing, let weller keep moving on and being arty , he,ll never be as good as when with the jam

  • by crap you mean it mainly aint sounded like the jam i take it .nothing lasts forever and yes those bands did reform but none of them without the original members mate i personally would not like to see the jam reform as their music will last through time and weller reforming the band would be against everything that the jam stood for . these two are tarnishing the good name of the band by bringing in someone who likes to peretend he is weller its embarrasing to be honest

  • Weller had every right to "move on." Others had every right not to. I think Mr. Hastings does a fine job. I also hope Mr. Weller - who gave us all of these great songs - found the happiness he was looking for.

Mr. Hastings, Mr. Buckler and Mr. Foxton, please proceed!

  • Im only 22 so didn't get to see the original Jam in action but youtubing Weller as he is now, i dont think he would actually do "from the jam" any justice, with his now american singing voice. The songs wouldn't sound as they used to, and there would be another mass of people complaining about it. From the Jam are the closest we are going to get to that late 70's sound. Good luck to them.

  • Paul? Going back to the 80's Wimpey Bar? Woking,Surrey? Still owe me two fags mate!

Two fag's to a star, with no pay-back?

  • saw him live in august. was so close to him! loved it!

  • Rick Buckler's drumming is just brilliant in this video!

  • Paul has moved on and I don't blame him. Good for Bruce and Rick for doing what they like to do. It has worked out for both parties really. Weller is an artist and has grown a lot since then. Its like the American Peter Saul going back and painting the first few things he did on canvas when he was a boy. I mean it simply won't happen.

  • Wot a load of shit your all talking. Good luck to Bruce & Rick but Paul Weller wrote the songs, sung his lyrics ,played his songs an HE was the Jam.

  • I met Bruce, Rick & Russell when they did wolverhampton as from the jam, I was well impressed with the gig, although paul wasn't there, let's face facts that's not going to happen!! they loved their fans and Bruce even joked with me because I have an original card from before the jam were famous, and they autographed it, it was printed more than 30 years ago by Bruce!!

  • Bang on the button this fella...incredible!

  • Met RICK, RUSSELL AND BIG DAVE MOORE when they toured as " The Gift".

Genuine talented guys.Great that Bruce has noe joined them.

Def NO need for weller i first saw the jam in 1972. These guys are MUCH BETTA !!!!!!!!

    LONG LIVE "FROM THE JAM"

  • F*uck weller he'll NEVER be missed.

    LONG LIVE FROM THE JAM....

  • good stand in for weller , very good

  • Now I'm scared to go down in the tube at night. I'd be afraid to get beaten up by people who spent some time in Wormwood Scrubs.

  • they still sound fu..in awesome...just feels really sad to hear and watch without weller there.afterall its the sheer genius of him that penned this track and 98% of all the other jam records...but fair play to bruce and rick still sounding awesome.well worth a visit by the looks of things..

  • this is absolutely brilliant

  • he sounds quite like weller

  • Jam without Paul Weller ????

    That's a fucking shame ...

  • id agree he really made it completley

u nned foxton and buckler but withot the modfather its nothing

  • well if weller would get off his high horse and stop this ,no going back rubbish, let by gones be bygones ,and get back to his best ,with the jam,the jams never been the same , but neither has weller

  • just ask paul nicely ya idiots...xxx

  • They played at the Prince of Wales in St Kilda (Melbourne) a couple of nights ago.

Being a big The Jam fan I held out buying a ticket. The fear of disappointment was scary. Then I decided to chance it and part with my hard earned. If they sucked, then I would have to live with it.

    The band carved up.

    Amazing.

  • excelent song

  • Why is he pretending to be Paul?

  • hes not even pretending to be paul hes just singing hu the fuck du thinks goin to sing?

  • hay great video its like being at the consert again the only diference is my hering is not impared :)

  • Whos the singer? I hate to see good bands reform when they are old. I think they should be rememberd as they were. The Sex Pistols totaly embarassed themselves when they did that gig in 1996. All bands are doin it now. Shame.

  • Agreed man. I remember the fools who went to see the Velvet Underground around the mid 90s too. There was no way I'd waste my time seeing such a band out of time and place.

  • They are absolutely brilliant and you have just got to see them. You will love it!

  • fucking quality band

  • Went to the octagon last night, what an amazing gig. All the old favourites where their. And when Bruce sang smithers jones the house nearly came down. Thats entertainment, Start, Little boy soldier all quality..

    You wont be dissapointed

  • Was at the barrier in Oxford last night...

    Girl on the Phone

    Running on the Spot

    The Gift

    All Mod Cons

...with all the number ones and other hits. What a show...

  • Well the JAM are coming to grimsby and the mob of us wondered how much of the oldies they would sing so whoever put this on thanks!!

  • That was fucking amazing!!

Its gonae be a very special night.

    I cant wait!

  • Brilliant vid lad. Well done... Will we see more on the next tour.

  • crap quality song, but a great QUALITY song if ya know what i mean =P. (if u dont know what i mean, i mean that the sound quality on this vid aint great but its a kick arse song)

  • Cheers Red! I was at the gig in Edinburgh - awesome!!! 25 yrs wiped out overnight. The boys were on TOP form and were as good as when I followed them all those years ago. The Jam are so much more than a band!

    Brendan

  • Thanks for the uploads Red. Quality stuff. It is a shame that Weller hasn't, thus far, agreed to rejoin the lads, as they were and are the best band ever. But if he won't...like I said, we'll enjoy it without him! Saw them in Dublin. WOW!

  • lovely!

  • yeh nice one the jam!

  • never realised how good rick and bruce were. Paul if you what to compete with the best you need the best. Oasis have been a pile a shit since sacking bonehead and co. clever words dont make a song

  • great vidio very clear and sounds superb

  • pure quality!!!!

  • cant wait till manchester in december.been a fan since 1980,weller is NOT required, this is whats its all about small venues, people who love the music. WELLER CAN KEEP DOING TEDIOUS ACOUSTIC VERSIONS,STAY AWAY

  • to true man, i do not want to listen to songs about his sweet pea or the moon light, this is what we want, raw passion and f-cking great songs, man i could'nt hear for 2 days after the gig, it was proper live loud music, keep the faith bro
