If you watched Michael Jordan videos from the beginning of his career youll see that he wasnt a great shooter to begin with and then he got alot better...but Kobe has been a GREAT shooter since coming straight from highschool. The average 2 guard when Jordan dominated was a non athletic 6'-3" white guy who couldn't jump over two quartersand couldn't play D. Guys like Jeff Hornacek were considered premier 2 guards in Jordans day. Now, Jordan would be an average athlete at best and he'd get exposed by the Kobes, Carmelos and Lebrons.
Jordans good, but athletes get bigger, smarter, and better over time. Kobe = Jordan 2.0

weren't as many threats? how bout the knicks and pistons who just beat the shit out of everybody, who came near their lane? with todays handchecking rule it is way easier to score as a guard than in the 80s or 90s, and jordan at age 38/39 still scored almost 25 per game in todays "athletic" league, kobe is great, probably one of the best 10 to ever play the game, but if you think hes better than jordan, you have to get your head out of your ass, cause mj is no 1

I will however agree that I think Kobe is a better scorer, but I think Jordan is a better inside-player. I don't fancy these guys as my favorite players though, too many great player get lost in the hyped crowd. I like Yao Ming :D

Check this - 1) Jordan had 10 scoring titles (NBA record), Kobe has only 2 2) Jordan has a career ppg average of 30.1 (NBA record), kobe is not even close with 25.3 (and MJ did this shooting 50%) 3) Jordan has playoff PPG average of 33.45 (NBA record), kobe is not even close with 25.1 4) jordan has 6 championships (MVP in all of them), Kobe has won 4 (MVP in only 1).

Good point Sal, but one of the reasons Jordan had such inflated numbers is because he never played with a guy on his team who was just as good as him. Shaq, justifiably got just as many touches as Kobe did & the Result was 3 rings. Playing with the best center of all time "deflated" Kobes lifetime numbers, so comparing numbers is apples and oranges.
