Musharraf doesn't have the best job in the world but he's trying, he's one of the few 'positive' dictators the world has witnessed. Yes, your philosophical answer also makes good reading but in reality things are a little tough on the ground for Pakistan at the moment. Musharraf doesn't have the best job in the world but he's trying, he's one of the few 'positive' dictators the world has witnessed. A dictator needs an enemy to survive as the leader, I'd say, better to have that enemy as extremism rather than India since there's a lot more to gain from a positive relationship with our neighbor.

That is an overly simplistic view of the '71 war. You first have to understand the circumstances surrounding the surrender. 50K soldiers with no air or naval support cannot stand ground against an entire command comprising, army, airforce & navy. Plus, the leadership failed, not the soldiers on the ground.
