ive become a big lisa jackson fan over the last couple of months, and i started off the same way you did...picking up one of hers in walmart and being very iffy about it. I started with "Without Mercy" by Lisa Jackson about 5 or 6 months ago...since then i have read 5 of hers. i would definately recommend more of her if you liked that one :)
the lovely bones is one of my all time favourites as well, but i must admit i didn't like the almost moon.
i didn't think it had the same.. i don;t really know how to describe it. the same qualities and strong themes that made sense. but anyway. i hope you liked it.

i love alice sebold and her books Lovely Bones and Lucky and i am currently reading Almost Moon
you should also read "A Reliable Wife" by Robert Goolrick- mysterious and thrilling book!
