Yep, this is exactly what my kitty did. I epoxied bars (made from a cut-up wire hanger) over the opening vertically... just far enough apart for the food to get through. She just scrapes them if it backs up and the food falls out.

Those "Le Bistro" feeders (by Petmate - sold at Petsmart) don't work at all.

My cat broke into it in about 30 seconds, the exact same way. Bad design.

So I tried it for my dog, thinking he couldn't reach into it. He discovered that bumping the reservoir produced the same result.
