Dr. Paul is right, we ARE going to default. I would have to agree with him when he says that the best way to do so is to cut the spending so that we do not ruin the value of our dollar. By cutting spending, there will be people who are hurt in the process, but if we ruin the value of our dollar, every stakeholder of the US dollar will suffer. It would seem as if someone were intentionally trying to devalue our money....

True cuts are spending less than you spent the previous year. Thats why Ron suggested freezing spending and not do the automatic 7%. That still wouldn't be a true cut from previous spending but it would be way more than all the current proposals. Rand suggested with Rep Connie Mack to freeze current spending and decrease spending 1% each year for 6 to 8 years to balance ther budget. That means freezing spending at current levels 3.8T then reduce it from there each year. Totally doable.
Most people don't get that spending AUTOMATICALLY goes up 7% each year vs the previous year. They propose cuts from that automatic increase and call it a cut. It only cuts a small % of the automatic increase and doesn't touch the amount of money spent the previous year. So if they cut 2% from the automatic 7% increase you still have a net increase of 5%. If you spend 3.8T this year and it is scheduled to automatically go up to 4.1T this year but you cut it to 4.0T it's still more than before.

To write a bill to do a complete 180 on the spending trend would require a bit of time for a person if their strategy is to be well thought out. I bet he'd also find a lack of sponsors on either side of the aisle because he'd likely cut into military spending.

I like the poles these news programs use. One says 70% of americans say the government should cut spending, then a week later 65% of americans say we should raise the debt ceiling. Either these polls are full of shit or people are just dumb because these are totally conflicting policies that the same people apparently support. How many times do you have to tell people that we are never going to pay off this debt, never. This centrally planed welfare state will crumble if people don't wake up.

Contrary to what some would have you believe FNC is not the media arm of the RNC. Their duty as journalists and newscasters is to present topics of interest to viewers in a discussion format as we see in this example. Unlike some other supposed to be competitive journOlist media outlets FNC gave Ron Paul an opportunity to present his view fully. An objective anchor is not required to adhere personally to the view of her subject. She did let him respond and apparently you understood.

@ffrank345 I'd guess primarily it's due to time constraints. The debt ceiling D-day is a few days away and he's running a presidential campaign. To write a bill to do a complete 180 on the spending trend would require a bit of time for a person if their strategy is to be well thought out. I bet he'd also find a lack of sponsors on either side of the aisle because he'd likely cut into military spending.
