Mashallah a beneficial reminder. We can achieve the same objective by gentle, persistent reminders. This issue occurs a lot in the Haram in Makkah and like the shaykh said, elders may not know how to turn the phone off or easily forget. There is also a haidth that 'A'isha reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah is kind and loves kindness and gives for gentleness what he does not give for harshness nor for anything else." [Sahih Muslim]
