Its a good album but Splinter and Bloodsport are much better. Perhaps I feel this way because I don't have an emotional attachment to Becoming X like many of you do. I was like 9 when it came out.

Sneaker Pimps shot themselves in the foot after they fired Kelli Dayton - superb vocalist. 'Bloodsport' etc was cool, but vocally it sounds like Placebo - TERRIBLE compared to Becoming X. Basically, Becoming X is the only Sneaker Pimpd album you need.

Chris Corner's voice is ok, and sounds a bit like Liam Gallagher's from oasis. Its not terrible, its just nothing in comparison with Kellis.

"post modern sleeze" could refer to a whole universe of hurts , longings , losses, hits & punches we all take as we get swept up & swept away in our lives . Basically they rob convenient stores and run from cops (this video) and sleep and have sex in dumpy motels (spin spin sugar video). Kelli did an amazing job being actress Rose McGowan. Since '6 Underground' and the first album, theyre just invisible on the radio in the US. Cult following, yea, mass appeal, no. They lost something when they asked Kelli Ali to leave. Corner is too self indulgent. Watching him sing 'Spin, Spin Sugar' is almost like weird karaoke. Creepy when compared to her.

Beautiful song. :) But it kind of annoys me how I find on every Sneaker Pimps video a Kelli Ali vs. Chris Corner debate. Does it really matter? Becoming X is a great album, Splinter is a great album, Bloodsport is a great album. They all have some really good tunes on each of them. I don't prefer any of them, I love them all. Each have their own unique sounds, and you gotta love the SP for actually doing something different each time.
@DuckieXt , thank you! I love both SP incarnations. She brought her own style to the group, and then when she 'left' and Chris took over vocals, he gave it his own unique vision. Neither of them is 'better or worse' in my opinion. They are both complete individuals, and WITH or WITHOUT Kelli, I think SP are awesome.

This album brings back memories of graduating from high school, smoking pot, not having a care in the world for the next couple of years, not going to college because my parents were poor and wanted me gone and that in itself makes it a personal album for me. Mainly because I was a "typical 90s child."

The sneaker pimps with Keli produced something...special...extraordinary,,,something they couldnt do individually. Sometimes you have to look beyond individual ego and recogize the collective beauty,,,,to bad, such great music

Beautiful song. :) But it kind of annoys me how I find on every Sneaker Pimps video a Kelli Ali vs. Chris Corner debate. Does it really matter? Becoming X is a great album, Splinter is a great album, Bloodsport is a great album. They all have some really good tunes on each of them. I don't prefer any of them, I love them all. Each have their own unique sounds, and you gotta love the SP for actually doing something different each time.
That's my two cents. I'll go away now. :)

@DuckieXt , thank you! I love both SP incarnations. She brought her own style to the group, and then when she 'left' and Chris took over vocals, he gave it his own unique vision. Neither of them is 'better or worse' in my opinion. They are both complete individuals, and WITH or WITHOUT Kelli, I think SP are awesome.

@DuckieXt I repeat every album after becoming X was trash. Chris is trash for firing Kelli just cause he wanted to be in the spotlight. Chris is trash for ruining a great band. If he wanted to do his crappy vocals he could have just done a couple songs so I could have an album of songs I mostly like. I repeat the #1 reason chris is trash is that he kicked Kelli out. Chris's vocals do not even come close to Kelli's.

@NinJavaisDotAnoobLOL I have to admit that I'm not a real big fan of the Sneaker Pimps without Kelli and I personally think that's why every one remembers this album even almost 15 years later. This album brings back memories of graduating from high school, smoking pot, not having a care in the world for the next couple of years, not going to college because my parents were poor and wanted me gone and that in itself makes it a personal album for me. Mainly because I was a "typical 90s child."

Is it musical differencies?...tired of touring...too many drugs...or z 2 much 2 fast!
After just 1 album they became popular...it's known to be a dangerous thing...they r often more fragile than bands famous after their 3rd lp

@DanielSarayashi ... but well this is just her version of what happened ...who knows if her version is really the whole version of the band... maybe you're right... but well... i'm a fan of 200 bands ... so it's normal that i can't listen the deep biography of each band that i like... i'm not like the 95 % of fans... who used to like just 5 to 20 bands....
that's the price for rock'n roll knowledge ahahah .... well ... hopefully i don't have yet a 'Mars attacks' brain...

This... Is amazing. I never had a chance to listen to this band and I just saw them in my recommended and thought eh, what the hell. FANTASTIC. I've been really digging the sort of laid back rock sound lately, and with a gorgeous female voice like this? Gorgeous.
