Remember the name Davy Knowles. Then when you're old like me, you can say you followed his music when he was a young man. What a terrific talent and a great guy too!......Roy
I agree with you all the guitar is amazing in all of his music, it makes me feel so refreshed, and i love love how suddel his voice is. I was really surprised because i found him one day when i was searching for another song on Beta Records TV. beta records seizes to amaze me with the artists they have on there page.
@TheBeargoogoo mee to! i love him! i herd him on Beta Records TV and i love the exsposure it gave him, idk about you guys buti neer herd of him befor Beta records tv fetured him!
I would say the scarf is more of a nod to greats like Peter Green, Brian Jones and early Clapton not so much emo at all.
Carnaby Street sold a ton in the late 60's.
Chelsea boots are still the epitome of cool rocker foot gear...besides when you are as good as Davey you can wear a beanie hat with a propeller and shorts with suspenders.
what do you think? Savant guitar player and singer and a bunch of local highschool friends trying to keep up to the likes of Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck...
I wonder what happened.
I wonder what happend to the rest of Back Door Slam.
The intro isn't abrasive, just probably different than what you're familiar with. It's a throwback to old blues guitar like Robert Johnson. That kind of intro was very common, and is still used a lot today by artists who have been influenced by the blues artists of the 20's and 30's. Clapton does similar intros, as does Keb' Mo' and many others.
Thx, but the Song is Wonderful, the volume is back to normal now, so I can turn it way up again. Was it a glitch, or site maint? The abrasive part is the first 8 seconds of the video, not the song. That screeching organ curbs my enthusiasm. I heard it about 7-8 times one day, and I think it bruised my soul! Keb'Mo is in my Fav's as well as this song.
Mercy.

Absolutely superb stuff, not really a slow song person, but this is a great melodic acoustic song. Up there with wish you were here IMHO.

Hey, Davy plays a variety of guitars and styles, like -- dare I say it? -- Rory Gallagher.
Davy has always cited Rory as one of his primary influences.

Hendrix wore scarves too, more flamboyant though. When I first saw this I thought Hendrix, not emo.
pplbfrprft 2 years ago
Yeh, but he couldn't play in tune.
I saw another guitarist the other day and he was wearing trousers and I thought hell Hendrix did that..do something original.

i just saw him on live tv, played perfectly in tune. And whats this about trousers? Thats stupid dude.

Actually he's in open D chord tuning (D A D F# A D). And, does anyone have the lyrics for this song?
Gretschman44 2 years ago
do you have a link for the tabs?
acarls20 2 years ago
There are no tabs for it, so I learned it by ear.
Gretschman44 2 years ago
What tuning is this in? And in response to the last post, it's youtube. the vocals are much more prevalent on the album.
JPizzle1490 2 years ago
He is in D standerd.
ynkysrbest 2 years ago
open D actually
JailbreakFilms 2 years ago
wouldnt the be the same or do u mean drop d?
ynkysrbest 2 years ago
D standard would be every string in standard down a note. D open is DADF#AD. Drop D is just standard with the first string tuned down to D.
