space invader did suck all my allowance but i grew up up started drinking and dope then i grew the most ten times theside of my head swelled for the love of music
Back in the late 70's early 80's a young kid growing up in the Dandenong, Frankston area of Melbourne, I hated the foreign music of the day. Thank god for good old aussie rock, with acdc the angels, rose tattoo and cold chisel etc. My pushbike was my best friend and the smokin greens flowed freely. For those who dont know who the Angels are, Australia was the place to be back in those days. I couldn't fathom the gay stuff like culture club and the human league. thanks heaps to the uploader!
Doc Neeson was a legend in Angel City in The States and was and still is in The Angels in Australia. Pity some American chick just pinched that name Angel City. Don't be misled - this is the original Angel City - the one with chick isn't.
@blueralf1 With all due respect, there was an American vocal group called the Angels; they pre-dated the great same-named Australian band by ten years. Their big hit was called "My Boyfriend's Back". Two good, but very different, groups, one great name. I saw the Aussie Angels play live in 1981 or so; they were AMAZING.
@tattoofu You're absolutely right. They weren't too happy about the name change in the States...but wadda ya do? Doc Neeson is a great singer and went on to have a pretty good side career as a voice over man in Aussie commercials lol. Through the 80's and 90's, there was always somewhere in Sydney or Melbourne on any weekend you could see them live.
i learned to play guitar playing angels tunes. i cant believe that after all these years i still really dig their stuff, i will never forsake the original angels. rock on Doc.
Great White should've hired better fire guys and that's why they wouldn't have had the time to redo this song and pay back about one-hundred burn-family victims.
Right on friends, was @ that Paramount show . . .believe it was 1980? anyway, the Kings opened and we had front row balcony seats! Right on top of them! great show.Only my 3rd concert ,saw pablo cruise @ gill collisiumwith buffalo springfield and then QUEEN @ port coll. WOW queen was the shit back then incredible show, good memories.
these guys played the paramount in portland or in the late 70's or early 80's. i think it was a $10 rising star show. anyone remember ? been a fan ever since. i have some cd in my modern collection. Doc is still rockin hard !
The best, for me, is "Darkroom"...Plenty of remembers, a way of life....And the harmonica on "the devil gate is openning on me " very good...No secret for a frenchie....
Funnily enough if you go to Portland KGON FM radio stations website they have an interview with the band from 1980. During the interview they play a live version of Face the Day.
They were called Angel City because there was a band in the States that already had the name The Angels. Saw them in Winnipeg in the 80's, best show I ever saw, and 'Ive seen ACDC, Priest, Aerosmith and about 50 other realllly good bands.
i am the owner of the LPs ^^ they were/are pretty cheap... i bought them for 2€ each... and that was the best buissness i have ever done because the musik is... wow
Angel City. Great band! Only record I have is Darkroom, bought it in the early eighties. Still working fine. Fantastic album. Too bad Darkroom was all I could get here in The Netherlands. Maybe Amazon has got some?
Okay how stupid is cougargw to not no that the Angels (a.k.a. Angel City in N.A.) did this song LONG before Great White. Get a frickin' life. Or learn something about music.
The Angels wrote this song. They released it in 1980. Great White's cover followed in 1986. Check out the video here on YT - the arrangement is different to this one (& better IMO). Doc Neeson's performance is fantastic. Great band.
The video is already posted - it's called LOOK THE OTHER WAY - it's a screamer!
The Angels were Austraia's greatest rockers in their heyday - even better than ACDC - richer, fuller, better songs - more melodic licks, better lead and rhythm harmonies, better lead tone, better arrangements and of course far better vocalist. Even the bassist was notably good - they were the full package - the best of the best.
@mallamoozoo Actually I was around for this bands hayday. There was a rock war with ac/dc and angel city. Angel lost bigtime. But Ac/Dc had more of a following. But this album Angel City did was super hot.
@sixstringfender Angels only lost as the market was manipulated by record companies in those days - they fucked up the Angel's USA marketing and they were buried. But just as justin bieber outsells unknown musos - popularity is no indicator of talent. The Angels were were markedly better than ACDC.
I am a die hard Angels fan and have many of their albums such as Face to Face,Night Attack,Darkroom,Two Minute Warning,Left Hand Drive,Howling,Skin and Bone,Beyond Salvation and No Exit. The Angels are awesome rockers and very underrated. One of my favorate bands.
yeah I love Angel city and it was only earlier that I discoverd they also go by the Angels. there is a CD available called Face to Face. I am trying to locate older stuff from people online. Two Minute Warning, and Darkroom
It sucks that there is a techno Band using the same name in Europe. I was hoping to find some stuff from the "Face to Face" album, one of their best in my opinion. Surprised to find next to nothing on here.
Thanks for the info....After making this comment I discovered they had been around for years after I thought they had disbanded. Rumors I heard here on the West coast of Canada involved Docs throat giving out or throat cancer etc....circa 1982/3...Thanks again. Rat

I bought this cassette in 1979 I think. I forget album name but it had this song in it.
It got in the uS and it was under Angel City. Not sure if I got it thru Columbia record and Tape club or a local indie record store in New Hope PA.
But I listened to this tons on my way to the BMX races, along with the Clash, the Photos, the Surf Punks, Split Enz, and omg tons of XTC

Reminds me of early Alice Cooper, probably a strong influence on them. A song, I
heard once on 1985 & never forgot so I looked it up. Great song. Especially when you
don't want to face the day the first time you hear it.
