If Christ came back today, he would be brought up on false charges because he was not going church and for always sitting at tables with gay folks, single Black mothers on welfare and drug addicts. He would be caught in Texas by conservative Christians and given the death penalty. Hundreds of years later, good little Catholic children would wear necklaces of a lifeless figure slumped over in an electric chair.
@mannyfit75 it's hard to admit the truth but Jesus was about forgiveness, love. There is no salvation for one who cannot admit his mistakes as the murderer on the cross next to Jesus did. What does Richard Rohr say that is false ?
@ tarmbruster...re: "It seems that the sermon on the mount , we just can't do." Right you are! That is why we NEED to be saved...redeemed...so that Yeshua can do in us what we cannot do!!
Jesus prayed for us (believers), declaring that the love of Yahweh, and Jesus himself would be in us. [John 17:25-26]
"He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it" [1Thessalonians 5:24]
Emmet Fox talks about the same thing. He states the most important person in history, Jesus, meant what he taught or he did not. One either practices the Beatitudes or one does not. Of course we find that we cannot be right on all the time and we are forgiven for that. We either walk the walk or talk the walk! Which one are doing?
I was raped when I was a child so I feel really sorry for other victims of PINDOWN, and Pindown victims are always persecuted, to stop us being able to claim compensation, and I went through the secret family courts for 7 years but God looked after me. But I feel like a leper, they make you feel dirty when you are a child and stupid when you are grown up. Jesus said to be kind.
I told four other vicars about the Pindown abuse and the persecution and childstealing in the secret family courts and gave them letters from Governmenyt ministers to prove I was not making up stories and lies. But they were all toop scared to get involved. They wont even pray about it, and one vicar lives near me and runs off every time he sees me as if I smell or something. I feel like a social outcast and its not my fault.
Other people were joining in, and it was at coffee and tea time, so he tried to stop me praying. But I was not being noisy or doing anyone any harm, so I just carried on, and they started a whispering campaign about me. Then I found out he was a Jesuit, and the church was a Protestant church. I think he hated me praying for victims of child abuse because of the Catholic church abuse. But it was not my fault was it?
The vicar at my last church hated me because I was a pest. He thought I was a pest, because I went into the sideroom to pray for the victims of Pindown and the secret family courts and the vicar wanted me to stop doing it, but I couldnt stop doing it because God told me to do it.
@tarmbruster1 He wouldn't have said it if it was not possible. He said that everything is possible through faith. Our problem is that we keep refusing to work with God!
Israelitish nations and the whole World do not have peace because of the God of this World is not whom most think.(2 Cor 4:4) Jesus was crusified because of who he is and what he came to proclaim in The Gospel Of The Kingdom Of God.His message of his now immnent return to take over the Government's of Man to rule with the 144,000 saint's for 1000 years.True Christians are Beggotten now & will not be born again into spirit beings until our Lord Jesus Christ's return to smash all the disobedient.
@FreedomFighterReturn The entire Bible is metaphor. It is more important to understand the MESSAGE and not read it LITERALLY.
Scripture scholars have concluded we know only 5 or so sentences Jesus actually spoke.
It's the message that's important. The message being God is love, and to know God we must love one another.
Therefor killing in the name of God/Allah is twisted human ideology and NOT the will of God. Killing cannot be associated with God, if anything it is the absence of God.
@FreedomFighterReturn Your response doesn't disprove a word I wrote. I'm stating FACTS...you're stating metaphor and interpreting it literally. There is no intelligent discussion to be had on those grounds.
But if Muhammad teaches you love, compassion and forgiveness better than Jesus I am happy for you.
Er...Islam came 600 years later. It's main purpose was to unit desert tribes. As was noted so eloquently by the pope (quoting another scholar)...Islam brought nothing new...
Jesus teaches The KINGDON of Heaven and the KINGDON of GOD, First public statement and even after his death, Repent for the KINGDON of HEAVEN is near!!!!!
All through Matthew, thats all he talked about!!!!!Matthew 3:1
@fonz1231 Correct. The KINGDON of Heaven and the KINGDOM of GOD are one and the same.Repent and believe the Gospel. The Bible is absolutely emphatic on the monumental difference between the Messenger—Jesus Christ—and the Message that He brought—the kingdom of God (His coming, world-ruling supergovernment).
I attended a retreat lead by Fr. Rohr in The Bahamas many years ago and I find his very inspiring. This notion of inclusiveness seem to be a part of his DNA. Even though a catholic priest, he sees the value that other christian denominations bring to the Body of Christ. Notice in this piece how he credits the Amish and Quakers for retaining the virtue of peace. Jesus has a very simple message for the world - LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
Richard Rohr says, "Jesus never excludes people." I'm convinced Jesus would not exclude him from His words: "Woe to you, blind guides." Rohr says, "we've" done this and that wrong, but he doesn't mean himself, he means other people whom he condemns, while holding himself aloof and better than all those others. The jesus Rohr believes may be fine with contraception and abortion, but the Jesus I believe did not compromise the Truth even while He insisted on love of neighbor. BOTH are required.

I know what you mean about the church and gospel values, but the Vatican is not the church, the pope is not the church WE ARE THE CHURCH.We are the people who understand what Jesus was saying and try our hardest to be like him. I have worked in Catholic schools for years and there is always people of different cultures - faiths - and yes, sexuality.. Judge not, lest ye be judged - MY FAVOURITE <3 peace...
I think the "Christian" countries have also done alot. There are many Christian and non- Christian people working with the people who would have been the "outcasts" of the old testament. I don't think its fair to ignore the fact that we at least try to help each other. We are all so busy Father, we are tired just trying to keep our heads above water. We are kept blinded and powerless by those people who start those wars.
When Augustine won out over Pelagius in the early 400s, the Christian Church took a dangerous detour from which it has never recovered. It took "good works" and made that into an evil concept. It took "humanity" and "flesh" and made them into evil things in and of themselves (as per Augustine's Manichean beliefs.) And it made the Adam & Eve story into a universal fall that destroyed our Free Will, where Jews and Christians had never believed or taught such a thing.
luke 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
