  • So tight a groove, then the melody comes in over that and completely turns "Wow" into "Holy Mother!" Pete is now the touchstone of epic Steely Dan solo fingerstyle guitar playing, and so much more.

  • It doesn't get any better than that

  • Play that like you have Kin folks in Winona, Mississippi!

  • im in the twilight zone :)

  • INSANE!,,You must have worked on that sucker,,

Real nice....I gotta go and get my guitar plugged in!.

    .THX

  • Pete's in the hospital. Stroke. All the best to him.

  • awesome baby!

  • Outstanding!

  • Danm thts my name

  • So accomplished...and such good taste in songs. What a pleasure to listen.

  • so cool!

  • Amazing. ndver thought this tune was ever possible for solo acoustic guiter. And Peter takes no shortcuts with this tune.

  • Hearing this tune played at this year's All Star Guitar Night at NAMM was one of the highlights for me Pete.

Nicely done. Smooth, tasteful and exciting all at the same time.

  • this rules

  • My gawd! Where have a been! I'm a Pete Huttlinger fan now forever! FINE arrangement of one of the better tunes by The Dan; especially the intro and the chords that lead to the B section. Delicious voicings; can these really be executive on guitar? I now see that they can indeed be realized. Excuse me, I have to get my guitar and see what I can copy.

  • That was pretty cool some nice chords in there, although funk/fingerpicking doesn't really make this song for me its still cool as, also like the hendrix style slides thrown in there very nice.

  • What exactly defines a slide as being "Hendrix style"?

I rather think the slides sound like Pee Wee Herman's classic fingerstyle debut album, "Out" from 1986, a nice mixture of funk and neo-acoustic grooves that's somewhat reminiscent of Narada recordings from the same era, check it out.

  • This guy is amazing and so cool :)

    Ben.

  • As usual Pete does an amazing job arranging a familiar tune for guitar. The guy is amazing.

  • WOW!! You never really hear what's going on in tune until you hear it played in some kind of solo/acoustic setting. VERY NICE, THANKS!!

  • excellent, favorited! and that's a word!

  • Wow!

  • Extraordinary!!

  • if it were not for pete, doyle, thom, muriel, buster b...andy m..we would all be a lot worse than we already are....ive met pete...he and all i mentioned are MO-FO

  • tite

  • Great Playing !

  • Bill Hicks look a like!

  • good call

  • Throw down the jam dude!

  • I'm trying to play Josie too....might take a while to get half as good as you pete...but something to aspire to ...thanks!

  • Thats cool...the bass notes incorporated in the melody line as well as multiple altered base chords. Nice technique. Did you study music theory?...do you take it off paper?.It was written in F, and the guitar was detuned a 1/2 step...do you agree?

  • It's wrtten in E and i don't think the guitar is detuned

  • Comment removed

  • haha no it's not. The relative major to F is Ab, nice try though

  • That was awesome. Good job!

  • great job I've the cd

  • Pretty tuff to top that. Great playing.

  • One of the first full-length songs I learned (Pete has the tabs and music on sale, and is all over the web). It's true to Steely Dan's original and hellava fun to play. Does sound better when you play it with a thumbpick. Gracias Pedro!

  • Pete, wow this is awesome! Great version of a great song!

  • Wow, this is really good playing. sounds excellent

  • response to billcundiff. Its break out the hats and hooters.

  • Im gonna rev up my motor scooter man. Im a third rate guitarist. However I think I may well have just been relegated to eighth rate having just watched your video. That is absoloutely fantastic. Thank you!

  • What a beautifully transcribed piece!! ...and as always Pete's playing is impeccable.

  • perfect. Awesome.

  • Break out the high Bermuda!

  • Another amazing Pete piece... Amazing how he nails the spirit of Dean Parks' guitar AND Chuck Rainey's bass. Just magic.

  • What is the tuning? And do you have pointers to any tablature for this? Cheers.

  • it's standard tuning as far a I know. I don't remember him changing the tuning when he played it. As far as a tab goes, he recorded it on his "Naked Pop" cd and there are tabs and transcriptions available in his "Pete Huttlinger Collection". You can find it on his website. But be forewarned, Pete does some amazingly complex stuff... It should be fun :)

  • yea. It uses an e minor for vamp part, and you can see him making the standard e minor on the 7th fret.

  • Bravo!
