  • Always a great oasis in the midst of so much desperation

  • In to the blue

  • cheers

  • @God4Dunoon thursday gaynoon

  • the first time i heard this song i was trippin balls and i lay on a hill for around half an hour staring at a twig. the music was the wind and i could taste, eat and see it

  • I get awesome "artistic boosts" when I hear Brian Eno's songs from the albums On Land and Apollo, and of course this song and First Light :)

  • Wanna watch this in full hd :(

  • I see water.

  • I need to go to Pismpo or Morro

  • It's like watching galaxies evolve and then fade away.

  • Time is now 15:00, on August 8th, 2011.

Sun is shining, not a cloud to be seen on the sky, and I'm about to lie down on a blanket outside with the girl of my dreams, and pass the rest of this wonderful thursday afternoon doing absolutely nothing, but enjoying the closeness and nuzzling up to each other.

    Perfect bliss.

  • @rahma4 you are blessed pall, blessed ;)

  • From me you'll get the straight 50 out of 5 stars for that. The match simply couldn't be any better; almost hyperperfect; faved; liked; LOVE it!

  • this insipred cool drawings for me thanks :)

  • One way to get high on life is with drugs, and one way is without. I used to be addicted to getting high on life with the aid of drugs....but one day my brother explained to me that the drug wasn't necessary. I have been clean and getting high on life with my own drug....that drug is me. I have been doing that for the last 5 years...and every year my life gets better and better. Its easy to explain why....with the drugs you know its the drugs.....with you ...you know its just you..

  • @Heartopener Good for you. Glad you are doing well without the "other". Live strong.

  • My life perception just changed completely!!

  • where is this magical rock?

  • I can feel the paradise coming

  • this could be heaven...

  • It is an ancient Hindu song. Where Love is an "emotion"

  • ありがとう。

  • Getting high to this song is the greatest thing that's happened to me..

  • Thursday afternoon, the troublesome week is almost over and Friday seems quite endurable. It's not the same as Friday afternoon which creates it's own hustle and tension while trying to clear everything up before the weekend or in anxiously counting down the last few moments of the week . No, Thursday afternoon has a serenity all of it's own.

  • This is a great song to get a blow job to.

  • wheres the lyrics

  • All 'highs' are natural.

If a compound DOES, or CAN exist - Then it's only natural that it SHOULD exist.

Clearly, people who've suffered an addiction to something which has affected them adversely will take a stance against drugs. And people who enjoy their experiences will take a stand in favor of drugs.

Anyone here take drugs? Fine. That's good(ish!). I can ony hope they don't end up hurting you (As they sometimes do!)

  • Through musical articulation, Eno has made me realise that days have different colours

  • SHIT it's saturday

  • @DethTones Very well said mate. I agree.

  • Afternoon of thursday, I always Listen to this song.

  • Words can't not describe this music.

  • this reminds me of the first time i did mushrooms. i was watching my friends fish tank, and it looked like there was a hole in the middle of the little rocks on the bottom of the tank. it looked as if the rocks kept being sucked into this hole, but there was never any less rocks in tanks. just what seemed like an endless supply of rocks flowing like a waterfall into nothingness.

  • This is where Aphex Twin got his sound.

  • I can really deal with this music, it envelopes me...

  • @DethTones heck yes! brian eno is my drug!

  • Honestly, before I found Brian Eno music, i would have terrible time going to sleep each night because I'd imagine all sorts of terrible things but then I was recommended An Ending (the 1st Eno song i ever heard). I went to sleep with no troubles and no nightmares...and now months later, I'm no longer afraid to go to sleep. I can listen to his music all day every day ^^

  • @dee32693 Thats quite a testimonial. What a wonderful thing to have done for someone. Eno's music says 'its ok'

  • omg... i think, this is what paradise sounds like....

  • I bought the CD when it came it out in mid 80's. Went home, put it on the speakers and layed on the couch. The CD player was on repeat mode. When I woke at 2am, I heard a whining sound and thought, "damn my refrigerator is broken. But it sounds so .. beautiful" I think this is the best of his composition/performances. I wish I could have seen his installation in Milan playing the tracks used to mix the CD.

  • If anyone would like to purchase and experience the beauty of the hour long piece 'Thursday Afternoon' you can in the link below. I suggest you do, it's a masterpiece.

    w w w . amazon. com / Thursday- Afternoon- Brian - Eno/ dp /B000003S1T

  • omg fractalz

  • You say Tuesday. I say Thursday.

Let's call the whole thing off.

Then, \while we are waiting for the lawyers,

what better ambient soundscapery than Eno, Budd, Lanois, et al ?

  • Being high is cool, not being high is cool too,its whatever really.

  • This is absolutely amazing! The constant background "drives me crazy" - in the ambient meaning of course.

  • i'm listening to two at the same time out of sync and it's amazing! :D

  • hypnotic Enoesque netherworld

  • I love how the whirlpools form <3

  • Blood pressure stabilizing, I now would now like to smoke a bowl and take a warm bath in the dark. think ill stay there

  • It's Saturday evening, but this piece has still managed to make me feel chilled out!

  • is it Thursday or Tuesday afternoon???

  • It's a shame the whole 1 hour song isn't on here it's truly breathtaking. This 5 minute video doesn't do it justice. I remember the first day I heard this song I was going through very conflicted feelings on where my life was going and in the background pandora was playing this song. It was seriously the soundtrack of my life at that very moment. I wasn't angry, I wasn't sad, I was calm. And that's what Brian Eno's music does for me.

  • @Nobodie92 Just think yourself lucky you can get Pandora. Apparently on this side of the pond we can fight alongside you guys, die alongside you in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we can't share your music!

  • @Nobodie92 I really liked your comment, I too stumbled upon this album on Pandora during a similar time in my life. To this day it remains one of my favorite Eno works.

  • i can't believe how immediately this music calmed me.

  • peace and serenety can be and is reached withiout the use of chemicals..turn off your mind relax and float downstream.

In this age if information overload, it is nice to have just a brief island calm amid the chaos. Space music indeed: inner-space music.

  • @cementbug Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream? Beatles fan? Tomorrow Never Knows?

  • @rizkunisnator Why yes, I am a fan, as I assume you are from knowing what song the lyric comes from. If you are, good for you, if not, oh well, to each his own. Good music is good music, I only suggest that inner peace can be acceived without chemical enhancement. I also believe we need to unplug from the electronic umbilical cords every so often and let it go: YouTube, Facebook, cellphone, all of it.

  • @cementbug "Turn off your mind relax and float downstream" is a reference to a Beatles song inspired by LSD about - death . . . .

  • @lasrarities Tomorrow Never Knows (is the song)!

  • When I heard this for the first time, it sounded like "space music" to me. I made me think of floatin weightless in outer space.

  • I can see waves in the swell.

  • Sshhhaaaaaaaaarrrrrkk !!!!!!! Oh wait, never mind! Just a wave...

  • tnx for the upload

  • This music is so peaceful. If only we could find and hold that peace in our daily lives.

We are beings of experience. All of us have a mind, an intellect and a personality. We're only different in the skin. We look out through our eyes at the world. Peace can only come inside the self.

Take away all the worries and problems we generate through thoughts, find time to chill out, create positive thought, attitude and feeling, and then...

The natural peace will come back.

  • timeless.

  • stumbled across this ....On a thursday afternoon...how nice

  • @Thehellaepidemic hey me too! it was written!

  • @Thehellaepidemic eerie. me three!

  • Never get tired of this piece! Thank You!

  • Why oh why do i want to jump?

  • @spectrum99122 Cause you're more great than you think !

  • i get high on life but one way i do so is with the aid of drugs

  • @monteoner Hopefully at some point you will evolve enough personally not to need drugs to achieve a high. A natural high is a thousand times better and more meaningful. I say this having been like you for years. Cheers.

  • THIS ONE WAY IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN DO THINGS !!!

  • symbal777 is a wank. Must have a real tight sphincter.

  • @exile103 unlike your gaping anus(from all the gay sex)

  • thursday afternoon is one of Eno's best works undoubtedly, it's haunting & profound, & no, one doesn't need the stupidity of drugs to appreciate it, it is simply awesome to listen to.

  • Drown me in that blessed water.

  • eno AND acid, thats a novel combination, I expect the result to sound like Ash Ra Tempel B-Sides minus the drums

  • @kosmischesynth Wow, I didn't expect an Ash Ra Temple reference. Good call.

  • unique sound and video,Eno is exceptional.

  • healers CAN crit

  • great ,thanks

  • i wouldn't be caught dead trippin' and watching this grainy-ass youtube video

  • Beautiful song, as always with Brian Eno. I also know how to play one of his songs, and it is GREAT, so people talking about drugs and acid, stop it!

  • My eyes got tired and crossed eyed and I saw all sorts of images: animals, faces, etc. (not on drugs btw) it was really cool, i like it a lot

  • that reminds me i need to pick up some acid

  • my humble opinion is it is a wonderful integration of sound and sight which delights individual imagination.

  • That was hypnotic. Watching the water create patterns out of randomness.

  • wonderfull in a hot bubble bath , jesus its lovly i can tell you .

  • drugs are bad, vote for brian eno

  • I love the sounds coming out of my computer right now

  • Almost Moby-esque.

  • This stuff will help me de-stress during law school. Thank you Mr. Brian Eno.

  • I have dug THIS particular song for near 3 years. Just found this vid... cool!

Pure solice.. like Brian's song. Perfect.... dulcent ... .scienced tones!

  • Mind you.... the actual song by Brian's clocks in at nearl;y an hour. It's fantastic for CHILLOUT laxing-mood needs...from our hectic world/pace!

  • great effotrs beautiful setup of sight n sound----------biggest ENO fan incentral florda too

  • Fools, taking psychedelics can show you an image that has been there all along.

Id prefer to freebase some oxycotton and relax to this song

  • @Blood420Wizard You should snort the oxy. I've smoked it before and it does get you higher for 20-30 minutes but the high goes away much too quickly. When you snort the drug, much more of it gets in your system as well, so your not wasting as much. OC's are too expensive to smoke.(in my opinion) I'm not trying to be a snob, I'm trying to help u out. All the smart opiate users in my city pop them, snort them, and the hardcore users shoot it. Smoking is a waste.

  • wonderful stuff, soooo relaxing, whether you are working too hard, at Uni doing revision, or just chilling out. Timeless, like the video.

  • beautiful

  • You are so correct...The only drug is your spiritual drug..Try it..It's lovely...

  • he either left the camera there all day or is REALLY sad

  • Brain, You got some really weird stupid and not funny stories! BITCH

  • rattled your cage didn't it ? so who cares what anyone else thinks.

  • Вечная музыка!!! Спасибо Eno...

  • amazing, i want to jump too. i want to cry

  • Does anyone like me, just want to jump?

  • @spectrum99122 Haha OMG an example of the brain damage, leave the drugs buddy

  • @betolala You must have replied to the wrong note methinks

  • Nice video and music. I think Eno himself would appreciate this since Thursday Afternoon was initially composed as a ambient background piece to accompany what he called 7 video paintings. Very well done.

  • Oddly enough, the video painting is also very slow motion. But it has a semi-naked female in it... Better to look at than water.

  • @hayata1968 only a man would insult a beautiful video and awesome music with his mind in his pants

  • @paloverdemusicshack piss off...

  • @hayata1968 , and this confirms the content of my original post

  • @paloverdemusicshack as if anyone gives a shit...

  • All matter is made of tiny particles, I am the water, I am the rock jutting up from the water . . . I am, talking from my ass.

  • excellent choice of video for this song.

  • I love this

  • psychedelics are NOT narcotics

  • @CM1590 LoL what a dumbass I am on narcs-opiates(hydrocodone-morphine) and benzos(valium) right now, and let me tell you= Brian Eno and any psychedelic or opiate/downer works but next time I listen to this song I'm going to listen to it tripping on natural psychedelics(although LSD would be cool) and cannabis. Natural drugs (marijuana, mescalin, mushrooms) seem a better fit for this music than the synthetics i'm on right now...

  • @CM1590 maybe da guy was thinking of psychotropics

  • @CM1590 There is no such thing as 'psychedelics' ;Maybe psychedelia ,or psychedelic drugs.I think what this poster meant,is that this kind of music has almost the same effect as narcotics,(without the hazzardous addiction problems, mind).Although, sayin' that ,I'm seriously hooked to Brian Eno's sounds, and probably would get withdrawal symptoms if I lost his music.

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • The ebb and flow of life in real time.

  • there's a horse and a turtle... and a bird that keeps splitting his head on the rocks.

  • I see SEan Delfin in the swell, smoking greencrack.

  • whoa

  • ma no go capio no i canta sò stà canson!!!

    Thank

  • what do i see in the swell? i see jack-o-lanterns. i see an elephant. and i am very sad to see that its already 5 minutes through with 22 seconds left.

  • @btreefingers the full CD lasts 67 minutes! 'Thursday Afternoon' is well worth 12 quid!

  • Why do people confuse pleasure with enlightenment?

  • some enlightenment could be associated with pleasure but it doesn't work the other way around

  • i agree

  • lmao, negative a philosophical point, fuckin brilliant reply

  • I prefer the to be blown-away by the grandness of reality. I don't need any medicinal help to immerse myself in this music; it is beautiful and enchanting, and perhaps spiritual all by itself. It is an experience to be shared by me and Eno without anything artificial getting in the way.

  • Very well said my friend......Very well said.

  • @EooWooY i congratulate you, but in no way could you get an experience as profound as a psychedelic purely from conventional means, although i agree drugs are not necessary to immerse yourself in the music.

  • If you like this look for Only time will tell from

Mike Oldfield on youtube. Also very relaxing song.

  • i could listen to eno whenever, but a good 8th or half-strip and your perseption of anything/everything will flip dimensions.

weed just always helped me appreciate friends and life.

music will always be good for people

  • Perfect music to sit back and watch life float by.

  • i had to stop watching this because it took my breath away.

  • theonlysminor:

Want to save this planet? Shut down your computer. Now

  • What do I see. I see a planet we need to save

  • forget the planet, let's save the souls on it. china, india, and brazil are going to be the new superpolluters anyway...nothing we can do to stop them

  • Damn. First time a song got me really thinking.

    You know what I mean?

  • No relation to the Moody Blue's "Tuesday Afternoon," I take it.

  • Amazing video, rated and favorited, thanks again :)

  • nice video. swell, in fact. i see smoke on the water, faces and dandelion clocks :) oh and eno rules!

  • Trust me, drugs dampen the experience.

You have to be high on LIFE to generate an ear for this. Unless you already have one.

  • Amen , Best comment on youtube

  • Fucking amen to that degree7. I've taken drugs, well, weed anyway, and yeah it was fun for a while, but for me it wasn't some gateway to spiritual enlightenment like it seems to be for some people, and in fact in just numbed me after a while... :S

  • weed = munchies and giggles. mushrooms = spiritual enlightenment.

  • h2ophilter, your sentence reminds me of people who think it is enough to enter the church and get spiritualized, it is not that simple, unfortunately.

  • vokshumana, point well taken. but hallucinogenic experiences have been likened to spiritual experiences, and Im citing studies from institutions such as Harvard & John Hopkins. As for your comment, it cheapens my message by insinuating that drugs are a vacuous way to enlightenment. FYI the Mayans, Aztecs & other cultures used psychedelic mushrooms as a sacrament in their religious ceremonies. Going to church pales in comparison to a trip. I dare you to try it before you make blind judgments.

  • h2ophilter, I appreciate your comment, but I had spiritual experience when I was 18 old, in the army, without drugs. Maybe youth is best drug.

  • Im sorry but I would have to disagree. Take 3.5 grams of mushrooms and listen to a song like this and it will show you things a sober mind could never fathom. But sober this song is still amazing.

  • Well, I've never taken shrooms, so I couldn't comment on that.

  • @degree7 I luckily obtained ears, and a good pair of headphones...

  • @degree7 if you havent listened to pink floyd on lsd than there's no explaining the difference between that and anything else, and saying any more would be pointless

  • @degree7 you don't need to be high on life, just connected with the depth and effecting nature of the human experience, both good and bad, for me ambient music pervades all the emotions i experience and all the moods i find myself in, for me it is not mood specific.

  • @degree7 Trust you? Because you know so much more about life than everybody who does drugs? Fall off your high horse chump.

  • @Vaeocyn

Actually, I quite like it up here on my high horse. You should join me (Oh wait, you already have).

  • @degree7 listened to the full thing on acid, it was amazing, it was so calm (i have the CD the full 61minutes of it) and i just stared up and the clouds and watched them morph in front of my eyes, it was the most amazing thing i think i have ever done, pondered existence and many other things. but i thoroughly enjoy this song when i am sober, but i dont think your mind can process those thoughts like you do on LSD

but i like life the way it is, acid just makes it interesting, and intriguing :)
