  • uniting the north and south would hurt the south's economy. so many would starve and die if they were to unite. the north koreans would flood the south causing disease and strife.

  • omg I'm playing this for march on the arts at my school this year!!! it truly is a great song, i love playing it!!!!

  • @lorien77

Well, nope. But I discovered a version that I really like by Kim Young-im: Jeongseon Arirang (정선 아리랑). Run a search for it on Youtube, you just might like it :)

  • This is a kind of variation of a real Arirang ~ try the real Arirang music in other postings

  • If I didn't know it's Korean I'd say it's Arabic... Korean language sounded different to me when I visited th country.

  • I am not Korean, but I love your music, food and culture of hard work, family, education and perserverance. No other nation and people have advanced so fast in such a short time. Ironically, Koreans are doing more to preserve good western traditions (Classical Music, Christianity, Etc.) than the westerners themselves!

  • Thanks for wonderful presentation of the culture and explaination. Probably few that are not motivated by self-serving motive.

  • Thank you for the beautiful collection :) Would you know the name of the singer of the first version(at the start of the video)?

  • I like this song,what's singer name?

  • It's so beautiful song...I like the part of end of this video...it was deliciouse melody....thanks..

  • Do you still have the different versions? I need the last version for a Family Night performance and the finale is featuring Korea and I want to open the number up with Arirang.

  • A sad if beautiful song, especially sad considering the present day situation regarding the two Koreas :-(

Good to be able read about the historical background in this clip. Thanks for uploading, yong4251.

  • @yong4251 sorry...absurd..tibetans are not atlaic people...tibetans are aryan mongoloid..

  • nice music

  • yes, korean society is extremely patriarchal

  • Most society is like that, don't you think so?

  • true. amazing that Korean social rules resemble the Indian patriarchal/caste system. some dances Korean women perform had similar movements and style as the Tibetan religious dance performed at Lamaist monastries. are Koreans descendants of Tibetans and from Himalayas?

  • @reggaemn

I don't think so.. In some parts there may be some similarity,

but I think thats just such coincidence as being able to see among any country each other

In history and ethnologically there are no connection between Korea and Tibet as far as I know.

  • So sad sounding first song
