I was their doing junior guards and a lot of people broke their boards that day, the waves were huge and the current was strong

Slater is using this new board design that is alot smaller and faster, but the downside of it is that the board is more vulnerable to breaking in half.

I just hope that one day I am a good enough surfer that I can throw my broken board to the crowd, watch them fight over it, and then grab the next jet-Ski back out to the line up on a perfect 3+ overhead day. A man can dream can't he?

Good to know that even Kelly breaks boards on a big summer day in CA. We had it perfect for three days in July and yes, there were broken boards and lots of bruised prides! Loved it!
